While I admittedly took a few years off from playing Bloons Tower Defense 6, I recently got back into the game to start exploring the new maps and trying my hand at playing the game with some fresh eyes.
BTD6 comes up fairly regularly in my conversation with other gamers, especially on Twitch as a good portion of my community plays tower defence games, though not limited to BTD6.
While many community members report that BTD6 is too chaotic or frustrating for them, I have to admit that the game actually calms me and while I’m not a perfect gamer who will still allow bloons to leak by mistake or quite frankly will let bloons leak to see how detrimental certain rounds are to complete.
I thought, in hopes of making BTD6 more accessible to my community on both Basically Average and Twitch, I would start making recordings of my play-throughs to give tips or strategies. In these videos, you’ll get to see a “more relaxed” win that doesn’t require you to place any Banana Farms, in hopes of better preparing yourself for C.H.I.M.P.S.
The following guide will take you through my first-time play-through of Scrapyard on the Hard Mode Alternate Bloons Round. I’d be curious if your strategy is similar or what you did to complete it!
Note: This guide does not require any Monkey Knowledge, so if you have any equipped you will have a much easier time.
BEST HERO FOR ALTERNATE BLOONS ROUND ON SCRAPYARD
In my opinion, I would always take Ezili for Alternate Bloons Rounds as she has access to both Camo Detection and Lead Shredding, so you don’t have to worry about their early appearances.
Ezili can also handle a good amount of rounds all by herself, though I have to say her passives aren’t the most interesting or useful compared to other Heroes.
ORDER AND PLACEMENT OF TOWERS IN ALTERNATE BLOONS ROUND ON SCRAPYARD
I always start off by placing a Hero if I can as this will ensure that it levels up enough by the time a player gets flooded with bloons. If you have Monkey Knowledge I would recommend placing a Glue Gunner at the beginning of the track for Free or if you don’t have the Glue Gunner Monkey Knowledge use a Dart Monkey in the top portion of the first loop (between all the crates.)
When you have enough Coins place a Tack Shooter at the base of the first loop, above Ezili. This will ensure that bloons get attacked twice before they continue to leak. Your Tack Shooter should be upgraded at your own pace to 2-X-4.
When you have enough Coin to buy a second tower (if you do not have Monkey Knowledge), place a Dart Monkey at the top of the first loop. This Dart Monkey will become an X-2-4 Dart Monkey in hopes of shredding bloons in a line rapidly and dealing with all camp bloons.
Place a Wizard Monkey on the left-hand side of the screen around the middle of the path. You’re going to want to make sure that it is not too low or too high as your goal is going to make it an X-2-4 Necromancer. To make an ideal Necromancer, players must ensure that this tower’s vision does not lap over two portions of a track. The Necromancer will always summon bloons to the back of the track. The Firewall is more important for this upgrade as it shreds more bloons, so prioritize that first.
Round 40 was my “I’m just going to let the babies leak” round. Players can avoid this by making Banana Farms earlier to support the purchase of another Tower. Typically a Crossbow Monkey with a powered-up Tack Shooter works, though players may want to add a Ninja Monkey with the ability to harm MOABs.
After Round 40, players can place a Mortar Monkey that is upgraded to 4-2-X. Target the X in the first loop as this will ensure that bloons are damaged twice and the most bloons are affected.
When players have a chance, they can purchase a Super Monkey to place on the crate to the right of Ezili. You’re going to power this up to 2-X-4 as this will help you deal with any durable MOABs.
Although late to the party, the next tower I placed is a Ninja Monkey with the hopes of upgrading to 2-X-4 in order to help further with MOABs. I place this by the top loop so it has a chance to attach a bomb twice if needed. Players should always place these types of monkeys at the beginning of the track as this will make sure their bombs are effective and have a chance to detonate before they reach the next group of towers.
For safety, I placed another 2-X-4 Tack Shooter at the top of the first loop, just to make sure more bloons were destroyed. The placement of this is not very ideal, though it does the job.
When all my monkeys are placed in the first loop, I place an Alchemist Monkey with a 4-X-1 upgrade to empower all the Towers in that area. I feel like the Alchemist is regularly ignored, though it is extremely powerful.
Close to the end, I place another Mortar Monkey with an X-2-4 upgrade to get rid of all of the extra durability of MOABs.
Congrats you’ve won!
