Kirby and the Forgotten Land comes with a good chunk of play time offering players both a variety of abilities to use as well as bosses to defeat.
While not every level is going to be a player’s favourite and some will end up being more frustrating for players than others, I have to say that overall I’m really enjoying my play through of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It’s a great game and quite frankly has changed the franchise in my opinion for the better.
I had a feeling I would fall in love with the game, especially after playing the Demo on Twitch, but as I continue to explore the world, I’m falling more and more in love.
When it comes to bosses, the Tropic Woods is by far one of my favourite bosses to beat and has me repeating it multiple times simply for the enjoyment of it. The reality is that players will not be able to complete all of the Missions that are available to them in this boss battle as simply put, one requires a copy ability and another does not.
That being said, I think you’re in for a good treat when it comes to this boss battle.
The following is a guide that will take you through all the Missions a player must complete as well as some tips on how to actually defeat this boss.
CLEAR THE AREA
As is with all other maps, players will receive 3 Waddle Dees for simply defeating the Tropic Woods. It doesn’t matter how long it takes you or what ability you use, just smack this chunga and you’re good to go!
DESTROY TROPIC WOODS’ ROOTS
Destroying the Tropic Wood’s Roots is a bit difficult to do as players will need to do so with the Fire ability.
In my opinion, players should wait to complete this Mission and begin with the “Clear Without Using a Copy Ability” as in most cases players will have to return back to this boss in order to get all of the Missions completed.
Admittedly, coming back when you have an enhanced version of a Fire Ability is your best bet to defeating this boss in under 2 minutes and also completing it without taking any damage.
In order to destroy the Tropic Wood’s Roots players will need to stand close to the roots shooting out fire until they burn. Note that this will take a bit of time as they do not burn immediately, so if it’s possible to place a burn onto the Tropic Woods using your fire ability to continue damaging it while you’re completing this mission, do it up!
CLEAR WITHOUT USING A COPY ABILITY
Simply put, defeat the Tropic Woods as basic Kirby. Shoot starts at it whenever you can. It’s pretty darn simple!
I do suggest that players try to get three stars in their mouth at a time as this will deal a lot more damage to the Tropic Woods and you may be able to Clear in under 2 minutes or without taking any damage.
CLEAR WITHIN 2:00
For a good portion of players, you will have to wait on this one. While the battle is quite simple, there are a number of points in this boss battle where you simply cannot attack the boss due to roots being grown or a fence blocking your path.
I strongly suggest coming back with a stronger ability if you don’t get this in your first run. There’s really no shame in that.
CLEAR WITHOUT TAKING ANY DAMAGE
Clearing without taking damage is honestly relatively easy to do as the Tropic Woods has one of the easiest fighting patterns to dodge. I will outline this below so you can best evade the attacks.
HOW TO BEAT THE TROPIC WOODS
The Tropic Woods is pretty simple in the way that it deals damage.
Fire is going to be the best ability to kill it quickly as players will be able to leave a burn on the Tropic Woods if they attack it for long enough and players will be able to destroy roots in order to get to it quickly.
While players can ultimately destroy roots with any ability, they are going to need a lot of damage before they break, making rapid firing abilities the best to use.
The ability the Tropic Woods will use on you include dust attacks that the player must jump on top of and the roots which players must weave through.
If possible try to stand in the center when the roots appear as it’s best to avoid these if you are trying to complete the battle quickly.
I’m curious though, do you have a great way that you defeat the Tropic Woods? What’s your favourite strategy to take it down and were you able to get all the Missions in the first go?
