I have been a huge fan of Bloons Tower Defense games since the very first flash version of it in the late 2000s.
It’s truly shocking to think about how Ninja Kiwi’s Tower Defense games have been out for over a decade and that I have had the opportunity to play almost all of them, the sixth being the most recent one to add on my roster of games to play.
Although the premise of Bloons Tower Defense games haven’t changed too drastically, the Ninja Kiwi team has done a spectacular job making each of the different games unique in their own ways, BTD6 being the first instance where Heroes are introduced.
Note: If you want to watch me play games like BTD6 on Twitch head on over here! Iām always happy to answer your questions there as well!
WHAT ARE HEROES?
Heroes are an extremely strong set of powerful towers that have unique attacks and have each have their own unique activatable abilities.
Heroes feature categories that somewhat resemble those of the other monkeys including Primary, Military, Magic, etc.
The only time players can use multiple heroes in a game is during Co-Op mode, where each player will have the opportunity to select their own hero.
DO HEROES COST MONEY?
No, players can purchase Heroes by using the in-game currency Monkey Money, though players can purchase Monkey Money from the in-game cash shop.
HOW DO HEROES WORK?
Unlike regular towers, which require players to spend coins on upgrading them, Heroes upgrade themselves based on how many rounds they have been placed on the map.
Different Heroes level up depending on how powerful their abilities are, though players can also spend coins in each round to upgrade their Heroes early.
The more experience the Hero has, the less amount of coin players will have to spend on upgrading them.
SHOULD I SPEND MONEY ON LEVELLING UP MY HEROS?
Players may be tempted to spend their coins to level up their Heroes, however, players also have the option to use the Monkey Sub’s Energizer upgrade as it speeds up the levelling of Hero towers.
Players can also use Monkey Knowledge that they receive from levelling up their player level in order to affect the speed in which Heroes level up.
The following are my favourite Heroes ranked and when you may want to use them:
14. GWENDOLIN
Although not a favourite of mine, it’s undeniable that Gwendolin is powerful and comes in especially useful when players are having difficulty dealing with lead bloons or even MOAB-class bloons.
Gwendolin makes certain upgrades, such as fire-based upgrades, useless as she will provide monkeys with an equivalent and allow players to power up monkeys in a different direction, such as camo detection or piercing.
Gwendolin’s active abilities are fairly impressive as she is able to shred through rainbow bloons effortlessly and deals a great deal of damage to MOABs. The only issue with Gwendolin’s activatable abilities is the fact that they are a bit unreliable as they will target random bloons, versus bloons the player has selected unless there are bloons nearby Gwendolin, making timing essential.
Gwendolin is also useful against ceramic bloons as Cocktail of Fire mixed with Firestorm completely obliterate them.
Notable damage from Gwendolin include Round 65 destroying ceramics, 76 to destroy regrowth bloons, and 78 as she destroys all ceramics again.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Gwendolin can be unlocked when players reach Level 14.
COST TO PLACE
Easy: $765
Medium: $900
Hard: $970
Impoppable: $1080

Gwendolin cannot hit camo bloons, though she can destroy lead bloons from the get-go.
LEVEL 2
Slightly increases the popping power per shot (ability to hit more bloons).
LEVEL 3
Cocktail of Fire is unlocked, allowing Gwendolin to hurl a flammable liquid, effectively burning ally he bloons that pass through the fire.
LEVEL 4
Gwendolin will create a powerful blast of fire that pops bloons periodically and empowers nearby monkeys by allowing them to shoot with fire.
Under the name Heat it Up, this upgrade is most useful for destroying lead bloons, though it also provides affected monkeys with an extra point of pierce.
Heat it up got a recent buff making it activate about 30% more often than previously.
LEVEL 5
Gwendolin receives increased popping power (ability to hit more bloons).
LEVEL 6
Attacks can now set bloons on fire, causing them to burst as they go down the lane.
LEVEL 7
Heat It Up has an increased radius, allowing for more monkeys to deal fire attacks.

LEVEL 9
The initial hit per each of Gwendolin’s attacks will pop an extra layer on bloons.

Firestorm burns about 2 layers per second and does 10 damage per second to MOAB class bloons.
LEVEL 11

LEVEL 19
Gwendolin now shoots 3 blasts of fire per each of her shots.
LEVEL 20
Firestorm gains a huge increase in damage now inflicting multiple layers of bloons and dealing 25 damage per second to MOAB-class bloons.
13. QUINCY
While Quincy can easily be looked past simply due to the fact that he is the first Hero players have access to, Quincy provides players with some of the most versatility, especially for new players.
Quincy starts off weak, but he will always be levelled up and prepared for camo bloons, which appear starting Round 24 and become rampant beyond Round 40.
Quincy can solo all the camo bloons that appear in Round 40 if players use Rapid Shot, thereby avoiding any leakages that would be caused by a weak Ninja Monkey.
Quincy’s versatility really shows when players use him to defeat MOAB-class bloons as MOABs can be frustrating to burst down without the use of the Super Monkey or a substantial amount of upgraded monkeys.
The only bloons that Quincy isn’t great with are ceramic bloons, though players can use Storm of Arrows to help deal with them.
Quincy’s biggest perks are how cheap he is to place in-game and the fact that he has decent attack speed, a good amount of range and can effect the majority of bloons.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Quincy is unlocked when Tutorial Round 4 is completed

LEVEL 20

12. OBYN GREENFOOT
At first, I ignored Obyn Greenfoot because he looked like he wouldn’t deal a whole lot of damage, but man was I wrong.
While Obyn Greenfoot is still considered a support character, he’s much more aggressive than Striker Jones and in my opinion is much more useful due to the fact that he empowered all Magic Monkeys, which is not true for some other Heroes.
The only real downfall to Obyn Greenfoot, in my opinion, is his lack of control when it comes to his abilities and his inability to damage purple bloons and camo bloons, though many other Heroes find themselves in the same boat. Obyn Greenfoot, however, can use his abilities to damage most of these bloons.
Obyn Greenfoot is especially useful for difficult maps where players only have access to Magic Monkeys, so don’t forget to put him on your roster when you’re not playing classic levels.
Obyn Greenfoot himself becomes extremely powerful, being able to place traps onto the floor, some of which will also provide players with bananas for extra cash.
It should be noted that Obyn Greenfoot can place multiple Brambles, however, cannot place multiple Walls of Trees.
I would strongly recommend using Obyn Greenfoot whenever you’re playing on a Magic Monkey only level or if you’re a newer player who simply needs access to a strong, but cheap character.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Obyn Greenfoot is unlocked when players hit Level 28.

11. CAPTAIN CHURCHILL
Captain Churchill is an easy Hero to look past, but beyond how expensive he is to place and the fact that he takes a bit longer to power up than other Heroes, Captain Churchill is an extremely strong Hero to choose in most scenarios.
Captain Churchill is especially powerful when players are struggling to clear out MOAB-class bloons or if players are being bombarded with a series of smaller bloons, as Captain Churchill’s blasts fragment and deal damage to multiple bloons.
It should be noted that Captain Churchill is unable to solo Dark Dirigible Titans (D.D.T.) MOAB-class bloons (the black torpedo looking ones) without the use of his abilities, so players will have to either team up with more monkeys on their side or plan when to use one of his abilities in order to ensure you don’t wipe out.
If players hope to maximize the use of Captain Churchill, they should use him on maps that are fairly straightforward in order to ensure that his shells fragment properly. Players are also encouraged to use the Empowered Heros knowledge from the Hero Monkey Knowledge tree as it will allow heroes start off at level 3, giving Captain Churchill a small experience boost.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Players must purchase Captain Churchill in the shop for 2,500 Monkey Money.
COST TO PLACE
Easy: $1700
Medium: $2000
Hard: $2160

10. PAT FUSTY
If players have played Bloons Adventure Time Tower Defense (BATTD) they may recognize Pat Fusty’s model as Jake from Adventure Time.
While Jake isn’t the most notable character in BATTD, Pat Fusty seems to be a crowd favourite, simply due to the fact that he is paired up extremely well with the Sun Avatar upgrade on the Super Monkey and the Grandmaster Ninja on the Ninja Monkey.
It should be noted that Pat Fusty can be placed on both land and water, making him a fairly notable Hero.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Players must purchase Pat Fusty in the shop for 3,000 Monkey Money.

LEVEL 20
Big Squeeze now allows Pat Fusty to grab 4 MOAB-class bloons at once.
9. ETIENNE
As a whole, Etienne is an exciting addition to the BTD6 Hero roster, though he’s brand new and shiny, it doesn’t mean that he’s the best choice out there.
Etienne can feel like a basic tower, providing players with more support than damage.
At Level 8, Etienne provides all towers onscreen with camo detection, essentially making it useless for players to purchase Monkey Villages for camo detection. Not only will players no longer need Monkey Villages, but players can also focus on more damage heavy towers than support ones, removing the need for costly upgrades for camo detection on any tower.
If you thought that Benjamin was going to help you make bank, the savings you’re going to have from using Etienne are looking almost as tasty.
Etienne is special, being that he is the first air-based Hero and has a decently impressive range coming in at 55-60, which is fairly normal for a Hero Monkey.
The coolest thing about Etienne is the fact that he can fly a maximum of four drones at a time, though admittedly they aren’t the most powerful. Though, at Level 10, Etienne gains the ability to summon a low-flying surveillance drone that will annihilate bloons in the area.
While it’s undeniable that Etienne’s camo detection is nothing to laugh about, especially coming from a player who often forgets to sort out his camo detection, I’m sad to say that Etienne isn’t a top pick for me, simply because of the little damage he provides.
That being said, there are definitely some maps I would recommend using Etienne with, especially if you lack Line of Sight.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Players must purchase Etienne in the shop for 5,000 Monkey Money.
COST TO PLACE
Easy: $720
Medium: $850
Hard: $920
Impoppable: $1020

Etienne also receives a second UCAV, allowing for two fighter planes to appear on screen at a time and dealing massive damage to bloons at all times.
8. ADMIRAL BRICKELL
Admiral Brickell is actually the first Hero that I bought since I’m one of the biggest fans of Monkey Buccaneers.
Admiral Brickell essentially acts as a glorified Spike Factory, who keeps placing Mines without stopping until the game is over.
Admiral Brickell really does a great job giving all ships visibility, especially for players who do not like placing Monkey Villages or are primarily focussed on water-based damage.
Admiral Brickell can wipe out hoards of MOAB-class bloons by the time she is level 10, due to her Mega Mine ability. Though, players are warned about ceramic bloons as those tend to come out of the bigger MOABs.
Admiral Brickell does really well with support towers such as an Ice Tower, though no one could say no to a duo with the Sun Temple or True Sun God.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Players must purchase Admiral Brickell in the shop for 5,000 Monkey Money.

Easy: $640

LEVEL 20
Mega Mine receives a massive increase in damage, going from 5000 to 15,000
7. SAUDA
Sauda is a very interesting Hero to choose as she is one of the two Melee attackers in the game.
While Melee Heroes aren’t the most powerful, Sauda does come with a number of perks, being one of the only Heroes who can detect Camo Bloons upon being placed.
She also has a great amount of attack speed, though players will also be very happy with her insane amount of pierce.
Sauda is best when paired up with towers that inflict bloons with status effects, such as Glue Gunners or Ice Monkeys or even Sniper Monkeys or Ninja Monkeys as they will allow her to deal extra damage.
Unlike Pat Futsy, Sauda has a good amount of range, being that she has abilities that will allow her to gain more control of the map, though the reality is that in the early-game the ability players have access to is a bit randomly placed, though if used early enough players will know whether or not they will be able to survive the round or not.
While it can be worrisome that Sauda has a very small attack range, the amount of she can deal in rapid succession makes up for it, placing her fairly high on my tier list.
I would strongly recommend using Sauda on a map that features a loop as she will deal a phenomenal amount of damage.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Players will need to purchase Sauda for 5,000 Monkey Money.
COST TO PLACE
Easy: $510
Medium: $600
Hard: $650
Impoppable: $720
LEVEL UPGRADES

The left behind Swords can shred through Lead Bloons.

Sauda will be able to shred through 2 layers of bloons, dealing 2 damage and will gain 2 extra damage towards Ceramic Bloons and MOAB-class bloons.
LEVEL 5
Sauda now attacks every 0.32 seconds instead of every 0.4 seconds.
LEVEL 6
Sauda gains an increase in attack range, bringing it up to 29 instead of 25 and a pierce increase up to 8 pierce instead of 6.
LEVEL 7
Sauda now deals 2 extra damage to stunned bloons and will be able to pop frozen bloons.
Luckily this also affects stunned MOABs, though MOABs will take an extra 20 damage per hit.
LEVEL 8
Sauda now attacks even faster, coming in at an attack every 0.25 seconds instead of every 0.32 seconds.
LEVEL 9
Sauda gains the passive Bloon Bleed which causes her to pop through 3 layers of bloons each strike she takes, also causing a slow and damage over time.
With Bloon Bleed active, Sauda will deal 3 damage to regular bloons and an extra 3 damage to Ceramic and MOAB-class bloons and the ability will deal an extra 1 damage every 2 seconds to regular bloons for 4 seconds.
MOAB-class bloons will take 20 damage every 2 seconds for up to 4 seconds.
LEVEL 10
Sauda gains Sword Charge an activatable ability that causes Sauda to slide across the whole track popping all bloons she passes.
Sword Charge will create copies of Sauda if there are multiple entries or exits, allowing her to pop 400 bloons, dealing 20 damage to all bloons she hits.
The Sword Charge is able to pop through Lead Bloons.
LEVEL 11

MOAB-class bloons will take 10 extra damage.
Luckily this perk will also stack with with the stunned bloon damage.

Leaping Sword Attack will now deal 70 damage to a maximum of 40 bloons.
MOAB-class bloons will take 200 damage.

Leaping Sword leap will now deal 570 damage to regular bloons up to a maximum of 60, with the after-effect dealing 60 damage.
MOAB-class bloons will take 700 damage.
6. ADORA
It’s no shock that Adora is by far one of the most impressive Heroes in all of Bloons Tower Defense 6.
Adora works especially well when she is in range of a Sun Temple or the Avatar of the Vengeful Monkey as she will float into the air, transforming and granting her an extra 5 damage and 30 pierce for all of her attacks.
Adora will transform the map Adora’s Temple into a dark vengeful version, turning the water pools red and dealing extra damage without a Super Monkey Upgrade.
Adora peels bloons effectively and can also destroy Big Airships of Doom (B.A.D) single-handedly, making it a bit dumb not to spend money on her and use her, especially if you are playing on Adora’s Temple.

5. EZILI
If you’re playing a short easy mode game or if you’re a newer player, I would recommend staying away from Ezili as her main perks require her to be levelled up by quite a bit.
Ezili should never be used when players have a hard start to the round and players should probably start using her when they have a few Monkey Knowledge upgrades to help make sure that they don’t have to wait as long for her to level up.
Ezili is incredible when it comes to defeating MOABs with her MOAB Hex ability.
MOAB Hex is one of the few activatable abilities that allow players to remove massive amounts of bloons from the map, resulting in some damn good quick saves.
Ezili needs to be at least level 8 to start dealing some incredible blimp damage.
Ezili is a must-buy, especially for players who are hoping to play rounds of Freeplay, simply due to her incomparable ability to annihilate BADs simply by activating MOAB Hex.
Ezili is helpful when players are trying to beat Alternative Bloons Rounds, as Ezili has access to camo detection from the getgo.
It should be noted that Ezili cannot use Sacrificial Totem while playing an Impoppable Mode as using it will essentially cause the player to forfeit.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Players must purchase Ezili in the shop for 3,000 Monkey Money.
COST TO PLACE
Easy: $510
Medium: $600
Hard: $650
Impoppable: $720

Ezili receives an increase in attack range.
LEVEL 3
Heartstopper unlocks, which is an activatable ability that causes all Regrow Bloons to become unable to regrow for 6 seconds.
LEVEL 4
Ezili receives an increase in main attack damage and her spash damage curses bloons.
LEVEL 5
Ezili receives an increase in attack speed.
LEVEL 6
Ezili’s damage over time lasts longer and damages bloons fasters.
LEVEL 7
Sacrificial Totem unlocks, allowing Ezili to generate a totem that grants her with extra pierce, extra range, extra attack and projectile speed.
Sacrifical Totem also allows all nearby monkeys to detect camo bloons, though activating the Sacrificial Totem will reduce the player’s lives by 10.
Sacrificial Totem remains active for 30 seconds.
LEVEL 8
Ezili can do more damage to MOAB-class bloons, now damaging them by 20 damage per second.
Ezili’s main attack deals 3 damage.
LEVEL 9
Ezili’s attacks strip off non-MOAB-class bloons’ properties, including camo, regrow and fortified properties.
LEVEL 10
MOAB Hex unlocks, placing a curse on a single MOAB-class bloon, causing the MOAB to take constant damage until it is destroyed.
No bloons will spawn from the affected MOAB-class bloon, though players will still gain the full cash amount.
MOAB Hex can be used on Zeppelin of Mighty Gargantuaness (Z.O.M.G.) and Dark Dirigible Titans (D.D.T.)
LEVEL 11

LEVEL 19
Ezili’s damage over time pops two layers at a time instead of one.
LEVEL 20
MOAB Hex damages MOAB-class bloons twice as fast and allows her to damage Big Airships of Doom (B.A.D.).
4. PSI
I honestly love the addition of Psi, because I feel like Psi is a Hero that we were missing.
Not only does Psi have unlimited range, but they are the first Hero with global vision with no line-of-sight obstructions.
Though we’ve seen this mechanic a little bit with the addition of Etienne, the reality is that Psi is much more powerful due to their ability to stun bloons anywhere on the map, essentially providing players with the ability to buy more time or deal some extra damage with towers down the line.
While Psi by themselves is not the most powerful Tower, being that they primarily focus on single bloon damage until levelled up, they are a great support Tower that will prove to be extremely resourceful on maps where players are struggling, especially if the map is shorter and can be easily leaked.
Psi joins other heroes Sauda and Ezili with being able to detect Camo bloons, however, struggles with Purple Bloons and higher early on, making mid-game leaks frustrating or even Randomized Levels frustrating.
Unfortunately Psi is unaffected by upgrades like the Monkey Intelligence Bureau meaning that players will want to steer clear of wasting their money on upgrades like this and will instead want to level Psi up directly.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Psi can be purchased for 5,000 Monkey Money.
COST TO PLACE
Easy: $780
Medium: $800
Hard: $865
Impoppable: $960
LEVEL UPGRADES
LEVEL 1
Psi can damage bloons above any obstacle and will be able to detect Camo bloons.
Psi will only be able to send deadly vibrations to destroy a single bloon at a time and can attack once per second.
Bloons will take 0.2 seconds to pop, however, bloons will be completely destroyed after this, no matter how large, though Purple, Lead, Ceramics or MOAB-class bloons will be left unaffected.
LEVEL 2
Psi can now attack every 0.833 seconds.
LEVEL 3
Psi gains their first active ability Psychic Blast which will allow them to unleash a wave of power that stuns up to 50 nearby bloons for a maximum of 6 seconds.
Psi will be able to halt MOAB-class bloons for 1.5 seconds.
Although at this point Psi can’t affect all types of bloons Psi’s Psychic Blast will be able to affect all types of bloons.
Psychic Blast has a 30 second cooldown.
LEVEL 4
Psi can now deal damage to multiple bloons, affecting another bloon as long as it close to the initial bloon they are damaging.
This means that if there are any gaps between bloons they will not be affected, though still being super effective in later rounds.
LEVEL 5
The Psionic Vibrations will now shred through a layer every 0.15 seconds and then will allow Psi to damage again.
LEVEL 6
Psi can now damage Lead Bloons and can now effect another extra bloon in the initial radius.
LEVEL 7
Psi can now destroy Ceramic Bloons (takes 0.15s exta per each layer) and their activatable ability Psychic Blast can now pulse twice. The first time upon activation and the second time after 2 seconds.
Players will be able to stun a maximum of 100 bloons per pulse instead of 50.
LEVEL 8
Players now have access to Destructive Resonance which causes bloons destroyed by Psi’s main attack to deal damage to other nearby bloons.
Upon having a bloon popped the bloon will cause an explosion that deals 1 damage to up to 10 bloons.
LEVEL 9
Psi can now target two different bloons at a time.
LEVEL 10
Psi has a new activatable ability Psionic Scream that allows Psi to let out a silent screem that makes all bloons blow backwards to the start or become instakilled.
At first this cannot affect Purple Bloons or MOAB-class bloons, but with levelling up it will be able to.
There is a 60-second cooldown on Psionic Scream.
LEVEL 11
It will now take Psi 0.1 seconds to pop each layer of bloons until they can damage again, psychic attacks will also be able to damage 3 bloons at once instead of 2.
LEVEL 12
Psychic Blast can now damage three times, pulsating once every 2 seconds.
LEVEL 13
Psi can now damage Purple Bloons.
LEVEL 14
Psi can now damage MOAB-class bloons, insta-killing them and their children.
That being said, players can also use Psionic Scream to affect MOAB-class bloons.
Psychic attacks deal damage every 0.025 seconds per layer or 0.05 seconds for Super Ceramic’s layers.
LEVEL 15
Players will now be able to deal 3 damage 10 bloons whenever they explode.
LEVEL 16
Psi can now affect BFBs and will deal damage every 0.0167 seconds per layer and 0.0333 seconds for Super Ceramics.
LEVEL 17
Psi can now target 3 bloons per shot.
LEVEL 18
Psy can now hit a maximum of 5 bloons surrounding a targetted bloon.
LEVEL 19
When bloons explode they now deal 10 damage to a maximum of 10 bloons.
LEVEL 20
Psionic Scream now guarentees that affected bloons become insta-killed instead of being blown back and will be able to affect DDTs and ZOMGs.
3. STRIKER JONES
Striker Jones isn’t the most exciting Hero to use in Bloons Tower Defense 6 and while he deals a good deal of damage to most bloons, excluding black bloons and camo bloons, Striker Jones’ main use is to power up Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys.
I initially thought that Striker Jones would be great for maps that feature only Military monkeys, though in saying that, I’m forgetting that Bomb Shooters don’t actually classify as Military Monkeys, so… Striker Jones is pretty useless there.
In reality, it seems like Striker Jones is just a glorified attack speed queen who I would only recommend for early game players unless you’ve got a hardon for explosives.
Striker Jones does come in handy if you want to stall MOAB-class bloons and other strong bloon types in late game grinding, making some of the more challenging maps easier to deal with, however, this will heavily have to do with a player’s play style and whether they have enough experience with their Towers to be strategic in other ways.
I personally find late-game content fairly manageable with a good amount of Monkey Knowledge.
Otherwise, Striker Jones is just another cheap champion you can use as a new player.
With all that aside, I will say the reason Striker Jones ranks so high for me is his versatility in tricky maps where bloons can leak quickly as Striker Jones can essentially stun bloons before they leak, dealing a good amount of damage and ensuring that towers actually have a chance to rip through bloons.
It’s odd because Striker Jones tends to be perfect for early game players, unused for mid tier then used again in the very late game.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Players will unlock Striker Jones when they reach Level 21.
COST TO PLACE
Easy: $640
Medium: $750
Hard: $810
Impoppable: $900
LEVEL UPGRADES

Makes all of the black bloons less resistant to explosive attacks, raising the chance of black bloons popping to 50%.
LEVEL 6
Blast radius and popping power (the ability to target multiple bloons) increase greatly, only for Striker Jones.
LEVEL 7
Pops two bloon layers per shot and all Mortar Monkeys gain a 10% increase in their blast radius.
LEVEL 8
All Bomb Shooters near Striker Jones receive a 5% increase in range and a 25% increase in piercing power.
LEVEL 9
Striker Jones receives an increase in attack speed.
LEVEL 10
Artillery Command unlocks allowing Striker Jones to reset the cooldown of all Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys on the screen.
LEVEL 11
Striker Jones receives an increase in attack speed. (I know… again…)
LEVEL 12
Striker Jones can now pop 3 layers of bloons per shot and gets an increase in range.
LEVEL 13
Striker Jones receives an increase in attack speed. Again…
LEVEL 14
Concussive Shell affects a larger area and has a longer duration.
LEVEL 15
Concussive Shell’s cooldown is reduced to 11 seconds.
LEVEL 16
Striker Jones gains even more attack speed.
LEVEL 17
Striker Jones gains increased range and can now pop 4 layers of bloons per shot.
LEVEL 18
All Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys placed on-screen gain 10% attack speed.
LEVEL 19
Striker Jones gains more attack speed and makes all black bloons vulnerable to explosive damage, meaning that black bloons no longer have any resistance to explosions.
LEVEL 20
Artillery Command now provides Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys with double damage and popping power for 10 seconds.
2. GERALDO
Honestly, Geraldo is going to take me a bit of time to properly draft a write-up for as he has an overwhelming amount of features. I have to be honest, even though a number of people have requested that I cover his skills and how to utilize him, I got overwhelmed every time I placed him on the map.
Now, Geraldo has been out for a bit of time now and I’m sad to admit that I’m pretty late to the party with explaining him to players, but I’m glad I finally got a chance to really push him to the limits.
Geraldo, shockingly, is one of the most overpowered Heroes in all of Bloons Tower Defense 6 and realistically can overtake any other Hero in the game.
Geraldo is a really cheap Hero, shockingly, but the main perk to him is the fact that players will be able to purchase both turrets and upgrade items that would normally require players to spend Monkey Money on.
While at first, Geraldo might not seem like much, he deals a great deal of damage in comparison to the other Heroes and has the most versatility in the game.
Some of the most notable purchases you can get from Geraldo are:
A Quincy Action Figure which gains worth each round, allowing the player to sell it at any point for more Coins.
The ability to make any tower gain Camo Detection (wears off after securing enough pops).
The ability to convert Dart Monkeys into Super Monkeys (that can only be upgraded to tier 3 on each track) for much cheaper allowing for Super Monkey rushes.
Allowing players to make more Bananas from Monkey Farms.
Allowing Towers to deal more damage with their Dart or Spike towers.
As I said, I will do a more in-depth guide on him as I have the brain space for it, but I’m going to tell you from now… he’s worth buying. So do it.
1. BENJAMIN
Benjamin is one of my favourite Heroes to take while playing BTD6, mostly due to the fact that I love being able to spend money in the early game in hopes of letting my game run itself for a few seconds/minutes so I can take mini-breaks.
In game modes where extra cash cannot be farmed, such as Deflation or C.H.I.M.P.S. mode, players will never want to take Benjamin as none of his abilities will generate cash, making him useless.
Benjamin is superb in the Half Cash game mode.
Benjamin has a few drawbacks, being unable to affect any bloons above the standard MOAB-class until he hits level 18. This can be outweighed by the fact that Benjamin collects a great deal of coin in the early-game, especially if players have a chance to create Monkey Banks or use Bloon Syphon during rushes, essentially guaranteeing yourself a hoard of cash that you can spend later.
As a side precaution, if players are planning on using Monkey Pirates they should note that Bloon Trojan will prevent players from collecting the extra cash as all types of Trojaned bloons do not provide the full bounty.
Shockingly, Benjamin can also target the camo versions of bloons, making him extra useful during Round 40 and beyond, though on easy difficulty with the Mana Shield Monkey Knowledge unlocked players can pretty much AFK for the last round.
HOW TO UNLOCK
Players must purchase Benjamin in the shop for 3,000 Monkey Money.
COST TO PLACE
Easy: $1020
Medium: $1200
Hard: $1295
Impoppable: $1440
LEVEL UPGRADES
Benjamin upgrades slower than standard hero monkeys, requiring 1.5x more XP to level up.
LEVEL 1
Benjamin hacks $100 each round
LEVEL 2
Benjamin hacks $150 each round instead of $100
LEVEL 3
Biohack unlocks, which allows the 4 closest Monkeys to pop an extra layer of bloons for 6 seconds.
Affected monkeys that receive the Biohack boost will not be able to attack for 2 seconds after the effect ends, though this isn’t a huge problem in most cases.
Players are recommended to only use Biohack when there are more than 4 monkeys on the field, just to ensure that there is always damage being done in order to avoid any leakage.
It should be noted that players can still use activatable abilities during the downtime Biohack forces on players.
LEVEL 4
Benjamin now ears $1 for every new bloom that spawns on-screen.
LEVEL 5
Benjamin causes all Monkey Banks to earn 5% more income.
LEVEL 6
Benjamin will provide players with 5 lives at the end of every round.
LEVEL 7
Every few seconds Benjamin will send a Bloon Trojan software virus to a random bloon, causing the bloon to no longer spawn any children bloons when popped.
Bloon Trojans will provide players with some money for each bloon layer affected by the trojan, though players should note that Bloon Trojans cannot affect any bloons that are smaller than pink bloons.
According to the bloons fandom:
Pink Bloons always give more money than normal.
Black, and White, and Purple Bloons give more money after round 50.
Zebra Bloons give more money after round 60.
Rainbow Bloons give more money after round 80, or at level 16.
Ceramic Bloons give more money after round 80 with level 16.
MOABs and DDTs give more money after round 100.
BFBs never become profitable, but they are least unprofitable with level 18 after round 100, where they only lose $8-9 per BFB.
LEVEL 8
Benjamin now collects $250 per round instead of $150.
LEVEL 9
Benjamin causes all monkey Banks to earn 12% more income each round instead of 5%.
LEVEL 10
Siphoning Fund unlocks, allowing Benjamin to downgrade all newly spawned bloons by 1 rank.
It might seem like Siphoning Fund is terrible since players would assume that they would not receive the finances from affected bloons, however, nothing could be further from the truth.
Players will receive double the cash they would have received from popped layers of bloons. If you ask me, that’s one sexy ability you’re going to want to use regularly.
LEVEL 11
Benjamin now collects $300 per round instead of $250.
LEVEL 12
Benjamin now earns $2 for every bloon spawned.
LEVEL 13
Biohack now affects 6 Monkeys for 8 seconds and provides the affected Monkeys with 2 damage instead of one, allowing them to shred 2 extra layers of bloons.
LEVEL 14
Benjamin now provides players with 10 lives per round and can increase the player’s lives beyond the original amount, meaning can essentially begin to protect themselves for rounds they’re nowhere near.
LEVEL 15
Benjamin now collects $500 per round instead of $300.
LEVEL 16
Benjamin sends Bloon Trojan program viruses more often, causing more bloons not to have babies.
LEVEL 17
Benjamin now collects $800 per round instead of $500.
LEVEL 18
Bloon Trojans can now effect Brutal Floating Behemoths (B.F.B.), which are the red MOAB-class bloons and Dark Dirigible Titans (D.D.T.), the black torpedo looking MOAB-class bloons.
LEVEL 19
Biohack now lasts for 9 seconds and no longer causes affected monkeys to experience downtime.
Affected Monkeys now have an extra 3 damage, allowing them to shred through 3 extra layers instead of 2.
LEVEL 20
Syphon Funding now lasts for 20 seconds and cash from popped bloons is tripled.
Lazer says
Yo this was awesome and u gave a lot of helpful tips I didn’t know. Nice to know ur also a fellow monkey buccaneer fan, but not more than me.
Johnny Salib says
Hahaha I’ll have to take your word for it š Glad you found it helpful.
Jose says
The monky bucaneer is my favorite tower in the game aswell
Micah says
I just got psi and one little tidbit to add is that both psi’s and churchill’s lvl 10 abilities can easily slap DDTs if you use it once most of them are on screen as churchill’s moab barrage does massive damage and psi, well he just installs them so yeah. In one of my current games it is arond round 150 and he is a lifesaver a lot of the time, and get this, no monkeys will attack bloons while they are going through the instakilling process (ZOMGs and DDTs take a while) so you basically have the round extended which can give your abilities some extra cooldown time. Also you probably dont care but I normally only invest monkey knowledge in military and support so I just got there can only be one yesterday and instantly sold my true sun god and summoned the beast that vengeful is, it is round 215 and it has over 498 million pops.
Dan says
My favourite is quite litterally one of the lower ranks on the list which is number 8 Etienne, I am a tech nerd and i like his abilities, also he looks the coolest and sounds funny. Also he is good at popping ceramics.
LMWOODY says
I definitely think striker Jones should be Garner down the list along with exili, also Etienne should be farther up the list instead of eighth.
Johnny Salib says
Interesting thoughts for sure. I’m curious, are you completing early, mid or late game content? ‘Cause I’ve been finding Striker really useful for the more late game stuff, but he was horrendous for early game. Similar with Etienne though the opposite, I found him great for early game content, but kind of disappointing for late game. Very interested to hear your thoughts š
Nam Anh says
You posts was really helpful but it has been half a year since your last post. Can you make a post about the paragon towers?
Johnny Salib says
I’ll see what I can do š
