Bloons Adventure Time Tower Defense has some great replayability especially due to the fact that there are so many characters.
I understand why they’ve made it so you can’t use all of the characters, with the amount of resource that would use as well as how easy the game would become, but I am curious to know how powerful my team could be if I had even 12 of the characters.
It always seems like I would be happier with my builds if I just got to bring even one extra character. For example, I love the range that Jake gives me, but I’d rather have the sustained MOAB damage from Madeline.
How about the Cassies? They’re pretty expensive, but they do a whole lot of damage. Is the expense worth using them?
The truth is making team builds is highly going to depend on what content you’re trying to complete. Are there a lot of MOABs? Is there water, lava or some other obstacle that would require you to use the Jetpack, Candy Dive Suit or another trinket that would allow altered placement or protection.
So, here’s a breakdown of situations where you would use particular characters.
Note: This list does not include premium characters.
MUST USE CHARACTERS
The following is the order I most commonly place my characters onto a map.
- Finn
- Princess Bubblegum
- Supermonkey
- Commander Cassie
- Flame Princess
- Sai the Shadow
- Marceline
ROTATIONAL CHARACTERS
- C4 Charlie
- Ice King
- Jake
- Max
- Sam
NEVER USE / SPECIAL OCCASION CHARACTERS
While I sometimes use these characters for special missions or for the martian games, they are very rarely used.
Most of these characters don’t have appropriate trinkets and are sitting at level 3 because I’m using their upgrade materials on their counterparts. I will, however, be trying to use these characters more in the future.
Note: there will not be a write-up about these characters as I have no advice on how to properly optimize them at this point.
- Juggernaut Max
- Captain Cassie
- Warrior Bubblegum
MUST USE CHARACTERS
FINN
Finn is a character I use in almost every game. The only time I don’t use Finn is if I have a daily challenge that requires me not to use him.
He’s cheap and I can get away with using him alone for a few rounds to generate some extra cash.
Finn is an impressive character with extremely fast attack speed making him very powerful if you use the right trinkets.
Truthfully, Finn is one of those characters I can place and depend on. I don’t care that his upgrades don’t do crazy impressive things, but they are some of the cheapest in the whole game and he does some very impressive fast damage. Might as well have him, especially for early game.
Finn is always the first character I place in a game because he’ll annihilate at least the first 8 rounds or so of bloons.
In some circumstances, especially in lower-level content, Finn can solo or get you through at least half a dungeon.
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
Finn Sword | Speed 40% +5% per 2 stars | Activated Ability: Temporarily creates an alternative timeline duplicate off Finn
CHARACTER SPECIFIC TRINKET:
Medallion of Brogends | Unlocks Slicer upgrade for Finn | +10% Speed
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
Missile | Adds additional missile attack
Dragon Eyes | gives camo detect + 2 damage to camo bloons
Candy Dive Suit | Equipped character can be placed on water or lava and is immune to all negative effects.
Baker’s Shard | Speed +50%
Banana Replicator | Bloons popped by equipped character give double cash
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Vorpal Hand | Melee attacks pop lead & do +5 damage to ceramics and fortified bloons
Bubblegum’s Hair | All attacks cover the bloons in sticky, slowing bubblegum while in range of PB | Speed 20% | Range +7
Glaive of the Ancients | Glaives orbit the character and pop all bloons that come near
Booboo Sousa | Ghost and zombie bloons hit by attacks lose those properties
PRINCESS BUBBLEGUM
I’ll be honest in saying, I have absolutely no clue why anyone would want to use Princess Bubblegum other than for being a cash cow with her ability Royal Decree which is an activatable ability that gives you $750 per round.
Other benefits of Princess Bubblegum include her Regal Presence which gives nearby characters increased range and pierce and her Royal Promise which causes Finn’s Bound By Word (increased attack speed) to become permanently active. This makes Finn even more powerful.
Not only does Princess Bubblegum empower Finn, but in the late game, if she is placed next to Marceline they boost each other’s damage by using Carl the Gem and Gemma the Gemstone. More about that in the trinket section.
If Princess Bubblegum is given a lot of range, she can be given some pretty awesome trinkets that make gameplay a lot easier. A lot of these include Bubblegum passively attacking or placing mobs onto the track, which will be covered in the trinket section.
Overall Bubblegum is a very big support character and I can see myself substituting her for other characters, but for now, while I continue to get all my characters trinkets I’m using her to boost all my other characters.
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
Liquefier | Speed +60+1% per star | Damage +2+1 per 3 stars | Pierce +3+1 per 2 stars
CHARACTER SPECIFIC TRINKETS:
Gemma the Gemstone | Grants an extra 20% attack speed if equipped to PB and an extra 3 damage if Marceline is nearby with Carl the Gem equipped.
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
Elder Plop’s Scepter | Summons slime people onto the track who cover passing bloons in slime, doing damage over time
Googoomamameter | All bloons take +3 damage from all sources while within range of equipped character
R/C Plane | A small plane flies around equipped character shooting darts at bloons
Rock Shirt | Additional +1 Damage if Marceline is nearby | Speed +20% | Range +7
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Candy Dive Suit | Equipped character can be placed on water or lava and is immune to all negative effects.
USEFUL ALLIES I HAVE ATTACHED TO PRINCESS BUBBLEGUM:
Lemonhope | Boosts attack speed of another character. Lemonhope can be upgraded to boost two characters.
SUPERMONKEY
It might be shocking that I place the Supermonkey so early in my gameplay, but truthfully his Heroic Aura is one of the best things get over and done with. Heroic Aura will discount all nearby character’s abilities by 5% +1% per star level. That’s a pretty impressive discount if you ask me, especially for pricy characters like Commander Cassie.
I think it goes without saying that the Supermonkey is the most powerful character in the whole game. His Sun God upgrade is irreplaceable in the game, and truthfully is one of the best moves to try to upgrade to first in a Martian Game or extremely difficult impoppable dungeon.
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
Dr. Monkey’s Secret Weapon | Super Fans required to transform into the Sun God cost 50% less to place | Range +12 +0.15 per star | Damage +2 +1 per 3 stars | Pierce +4 +1 per 3 stars
CHARACTER SPECIFIC TRINKET:
Dark Temple Idol | Sun God gets +100% range and +5 damage | Fires 2 lasers instead of 1 | Range +100% | Damage +5
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
Candy Dive Suit | Equipped character can be placed on water or lava and is immune to all negative effects.
Crystal Mergence of Destruction | Instantly destroy MOAB class bloons with less than 10% health remaining
Soul Stone | Equipped character’s upgrades are 10% cheaper and they start with their cheapest upgrade already purchased
Crystal Gem Apple | 30% chance to encase MOABs in crystal on hit. Crystalized MOABs can’t move for 10 seconds or until they’ve taken 400 damage.
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Rainicornicopia | All bloons popped by the equipped character will spawn fewer bloons
Future Crystal | All MOAB class bloons spawn with 80% of their health, except the BAD which spawns with 95% of it’s health
COMMANDER CASSIE (Cdr Cassie)
Just as described, “Cassie can unleash an arsenal of heavy weaponry at the push of a button.”
Commander Cassie is one of the most powerful characters in the game, in my opinion. As soon as you upgrade her M.A.F. which launches 2 military planes that attack bloons on their own it’s pretty much game over, especially for early game players.
The main issue with Commander Cassie is the fact that she is super expensive, with one of her average upgrade costing around $2500, though, with a few trinkets and other characters on the field, this cost can be greatly reduced.
Commander Cassie can also be equipped with various trinkets to help her make money, some of which will be covered in the trinket section.
Commander Cassie has two different trees you can choose to max out, each having their own benefit.
The first tree is down the mentioned M.A.F. path. This path focusses on your military planes. Upgrades include Arms Race (Call in additional planes), Triple Barrel (Fires 3 darts every attack) and the final upgrade being Sidewinder Strike (an activatable that transforms all planes into powerful jet fighters).
Though Sidewinder Strike is pretty cool to watch, I honestly always choose the missile upgrade path because it makes more sense with the type of build I go for. I also feel like there are way too many activatable abilities in this game, especially closer to the end game. I don’t think this activatable is worth it when you have the Supermonkey’s Sun God to compete against.
Commander Cassie’s Missile path starts off with Cruise Missile (Cassie gains an additional homing missile attack), then Advanced Warheads (Missiles are faster and do more damage) to Bloontonium Tips (Cassie’s attacks can pop any bloon type) into Missile Barrage (Fires 5 missiles in quick succession instead of 1) and finally Mounted Mauler (Replaces all missiles with powerful MOAB Maulers for extra damage against MOABs.)
Mounted Mauler requires C4 Charlie nearby.
Truthfully, even when written out the Missile path makes much more sense, though the final Missile Barrage which fires 5 missiles comes at level 7, which takes quite a bit of time to level up to.
The most important thing to know about Commander Cassie is she’s pretty much useless to beginner players until you get her a trinket to place her onto the land. This will make gameplay so much easier and truthfully is the only way I see Commander Cassie as being playable.
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
Dragon Fangs | Damage +2 +1 per 5 stars | Pierce +4 +1 per 3 stars
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
Soul Stone | Equipped character’s upgrades are 10% cheaper and they start with their cheapest upgrade already purchased
Jetpack | Equipped character can be placed on land, water, or lava
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Banana Replicator | Bloons popped by equipped character give double cash
Treasure Chest Keys | MOABs popped by the equipped character have a small chance of dropping a chest with all kinds of loot in it
Doom Gauntlets | +3 damage to shield bloons | +15% speed | +1 pierce
R/C Plane | A small plane flies around equipped character shooting darts at bloons
FLAME PRINCESS
I have a weird love-hate relationship with the Flame Princess. I know she’s extremely powerful, and while that’s true I can’t fully admit to it. I keep optimizing other characters over her. It’s for that reason a lot of my trinkets are actually purple on her, but I know that there are much more powerful ones out there.
Upgrades on this beauty pretty much just upgrade her damage and make her attack speed even higher. Beware, she does not have camo detection until she has upgraded her Heat Sense.
She is a character who I buy the activatable ability, Elemental Transform, for. Similar to her appearance in the Fire Trap map which is one of the many hidden secrets in the game, this ability annihilates the majority of bloons on the map.
Truthfully, the Flame Princess has pretty impressive range and damage, especially with her Flambits which run around the map destroying other bloons.
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
Thought Cannon Wand | MOABs hit by attacks drop loot when destroyed | Also increases the duration (bubblegum, ice, etc.) by 30% plus an additional 1% per star level | Range +12 +0.25 per star
Wizard Lord Wand | Adds additional whirlwind attack | Pierce +10 +2 per star
CHARACTER SPECIFIC TRINKET:
Fire Crown | Equipped character’s allies get +2 Pierce and +4 Range | Unlocks Royal Fury upgrade for Flame Princess
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
At this time I don’t think there are any must-have trinkets for the Flame Princess, they are fairly interchangeable.
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Doom Gauntlets: +3 damage to shield bloons | +15% speed | +1 pierce
Baker’s Shard: +50% Speed
Candy Dive Suit | Equipped character can be placed on water or lava and is immune to all negative effects.
USEFUL ALLIES:
Flame King | Enhances all fire damage and causes them to burn longer
SAI THE SHADOW
Sai is another one of those, plop her down and forget about her, kind of characters.
Although her cons state that she has low base damage, I personally don’t see that as being an issue, since she’s got a whole lot of use. She’s great for beginner camo detection and does quite a bit of damage with her spike traps (Tetsubishi).
Upgrades include Bloonatomy which does extra damage to MOABs and raises the chance of popping lead bloons.
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
Dragon Fangs | Damage +2 +1 per 5 stars | Pierce +4 +1 per 3 stars
CHARACTER SPECIFIC TRINKET:
Dagger of Chilled Glass | Gives frozen popping and +1 damage to frozen bloons | Unlocks Frijitsu for Sai | +10% speed
Mask of Shadows | Activated Ability: Sai creates a shadow clone of herself
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
At this time I don’t think there are any must-have trinkets for Sai the Shadow, they are fairly interchangeable.
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Blazing Feet | Allows placement on lava | +1 Pierce if all 3 Wizard Powers are equipped | +8% speed
Tiger Claw | Gives +2 damage to all melee attacks | +1 damage if all Wizard Powers are equipped
Beauteous Wings | Blows bloons back that come near | +5% range if all 3 Wizard Powers are equipped
Note: the above are not ideal for Sai, but are good for mid-game players
MARCELINE
At first, I thought Marceline was completely useless. I never used her in any of my maps, especially because she didn’t have much range and her weapon was pretty… garbage.
Marceline is the epitome of why it is important that you have good weapons when playing this game, especially with your supports.
Since Marceline is holding an instrument, it empowers all of the allies who are in her range. This makes her extremely powerful, especially when placed beside Princess Bubblegum or Max.
Oh! And if you thought that Marceline’s weapon is the only thing that is empowering the characters around you then you are wrong!
Any trinkets that you have on Marceline will also give bonuses to nearby characters. This makes farming trinkets that are specific to Marceline extremely important, especially for late gameplay.
Between Max and Marceline, I love Marceline more hands down.
I’ve recently been playing with both since they extremely support heavy and good for content where characters are placed in extremely close proximity.
Marceline is much more damage oriented, while Max is more about supporting in general.
Marceline is handy because she is one of the only characters who actually have full map coverage with her attacks. Not only that, but she does some pretty heavy damage to MOABs before they get to my “kill box.”
I always go down the Shape-Shifting path because it does more burst damage and allows you to buy the passive Ferocity which allows for faster attack speed when she is not in her shapeshift.
Marceline is also extremely useful for her upgrade Eating Red which gets rid of all red bloons and slows all BFBs.
Not to forget her Bass Expert upgrade which boosts all of the stats on her musical instrument. This, in turn, boosts all of the allies that are in the range of her.
Finally, Marceline continues to play heavy-handed support with her ability Telekinesis which pushes bloons back. This comes in handy when you’re having issues with bloons escaping or passing your characters too quickly.
Telekinesis upgrades into Pyrokinesis which causes bloons to be set on fire.
This damage can easily be multiplied by using allies such as the Flame King.
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
Devil Monster Bass | Characters in range get +1 Damage | Speed +20% +1% per 2 stars | Damage +2 +1 per 4 stars | Pierce +5 +1 per 2 stars
CHARACTER SPECIFIC TRINKET:
Carl the Gem | Equipped character gains an additional laser attack | Gains 20% attack speed if equipped to Marceline and an extra 3 damage if Princess Bubblegum is nearby with Gemma the Gemstone Equipped
Hambo | Reduces the cost of upgrades that give an activated ability by 50% and reduces ability cooldowns by 30%
Demon Heart | Additional +2 damage if equipped to Marceline | +2 damage
Basketball | If the equipped character is near Ice King or Marceline they both gain +5 pierce. If they both have the basketball equipped they’ll also get +4 range and +10% Attack Speed | +1 Pierce
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
Vorpal Hand | Melee attacks pop lead & do +5 damage to ceramics and fortified bloons
Soul Stone | Equipped character’s upgrades are 10% cheaper and they start with their cheapest upgrade already purchased
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Cosmic Gauntlets | Reduce activated ability cooldowns by 10% | +15% Speed
ROTATIONAL CHARACTERS
C4 CHARLIE
Honestly, I was ready to put C4 Charlie into my regular character list, but I truly don’t use her in all of the content that I do.
Her main use is empowering Commander Cassie, though at higher levels she does do some heavy damage to MOABs.
Similar to Commander Cassie, C4 Charlie has a path that does more damage to MOABs and one path that does more damage to bloons in the area. You may choose to use either path dependant on your circumstance or level.
The MOAB path includes MOAB Mauler which releases missiles and MOAB Assassin which targets the largest MOAB for massive damage.
It is important that you do not lock MOAB Assassin by unlocking Signal Flare. Signal Flare strips all modifiers from all bloons on the field and is a pretty useless upgrade in my opinion.
As mentioned the second path that C4 Charlie can take begins with Bouncing Bombs which causes bombs to bounce to other bloons upon detonation.
Bouncing Bombs can further be upgraded into Double Bomb which causes bombs to leave behind a second explosive.
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
MOAP | Increase blast radius by 50% | +2% per star | Activated Ability: Destroy all bloons (including metal Moabs) | Damage +1+1 per 4 stars | Pierce +10 +3 per stars
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
At this time I don’t think there are any must-have trinkets for C4 Charlie, they are fairly interchangeable.
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Candy Dive Suit | Equipped character can be placed on water or lava and is immune to all negative effects.
ICE KING
I don’t know what it is about the Ice King that makes me fall in love with him. Maybe it’s the fact that he’s the #1 Babe.
Although he’s the character that everyone dislikes the most, he’s one of my favourite characters and I find him fairly useful.
I personally love his upgrade Lighting Strike which causes a global lightning bolt to hit bloons. This is especially handy in the early game, especially against ghost bloons.
Lightning Strike upgrades into Freeze Lightning which causes bloons to become frozen. This, plus Sai’s upgrades should do quite some damage.
Freeze Lightning upgrades into the Ice King’s best attack Big Freeze which allows the lightning strikes to freeze MOABs globally.
While many people say that Thought Cannon Wand should not be placed on the Ice King, because Freeze Lightning is the only ability that does any damage to MOABs, I don’t necessarily agree.
Thought Cannon Wand provides a good amount of range to the Ice King, and if you have a Basketball with Marceline next to you, you get more damage and range, plus you always make sure you get at least one hit on MOABs before they die. Basically everything dominoes on top of each other.
One of the most frustrating things about the Thought Cannon Wand is the fact that sometimes the MOABs die from Commander Cassie long before they ever get hit by the Flame Princess. So, her Thought Cannon Wand is completely useless.
The Ice King isn’t considered the most powerful support, especially because of his low damage to MOAB bloons, making him commonly sidelined during late-gameplay.
Truthfully, it’s coming to the point where I’m thinking about benching him more often in hopes of getting some more damage out on the game field.
Great support upgrades include Winter Weather which slows all bloons in range of the Ice King. This is especially useful in early gameplay.
Range is extremely important when it comes to the Ice King, so make sure you find lots of trinkets with it!
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
Thought Cannon Wand | MOABs hit by attacks drop loot when destroyed | Also increases the duration (bubblegum, ice, etc.) by 30% plus an additional 1% per star level | Range +12 +0.25 per star
Want of Dispersement | Activated Ability: Targets the strongest bloon and instantly disperses it into atoms | Range +8 +0.5 per star | Damage +3 +1 per 4 stars
CHARACTER SPECIFIC TRINKET:
Demonic Wishing Eye | Equipped character gains an additional attack that transforms nearby bloons into penguins who attack on your behalf
Arrow of Ice | Gives frozen popping and +1 damage to frozen bloons | Unlocks Arrows of Frozen Rain upgrade of Ice King | Range +4
Basketball | If the equipped character is near Ice King or Marceline they both gain +5 pierce. If they both have the basketball equipped they’ll also get +4 range and +10% Attack Speed | +1 Pierce
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
At this time I don’t think there are any must-have trinkets for the Ice King, they are fairly interchangeable.
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Shard of Everfrost | Freeze effects from the equipped character last 10% longer
Blazing Feet | Allows placement on lava | +1 Pierce if all 3 Wizard Powers are equipped | +8% speed
Tiger Claw | Gives +2 damage to all melee attacks | +1 damage if all Wizard Powers are equipped
Beauteous Wings | Blows bloons back that come near | +5% range if all 3 Wizard Powers are equipped
Note: Though these are not great late-game, they are great for mid-game play
JAKE
Max is what I call a power-bottom.
He sees a lot of use when you first start playing the game and then disappears for a while while you level up other characters and will finally make an appearance once you get him better items.
As mentioned, Jake is a great way to empower everyone, especially if you have Princess Bubblegum and Marceline nearby. They will all just play off of each other.
Similar to Marceline, Jake empowers the surrounding characters with his weapon and his trinkets.
So, if you have some trinkets that can help reduce cooldowns or that are specific to Jake, make sure to snag them!
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
Golden Viola | Characters in range get +10% Attack Speed | Every 5th bloon they pop gives +$1 cash | Speed +30+1% per star
CHARACTER SPECIFIC TRINKET:
Baby Blanket | Finn’s Bro Fist upgrade costs $1000 instead of the usual price while he is in range | Speed +20% | Range +7
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
At this time I don’t think there are any must-have trinkets for Jake, they are fairly interchangeable.
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Vorpal Hand | Melee attacks pop lead & do +5 damage to ceramics and fortified bloons
R/C Plane | A small plane flies around equipped character shooting darts at bloons
Candy Dive Suit | Equipped character can be placed on water or lava and is immune to all negative effects.
MAX
I can’t deny that Max is an extremely strong character, it’s just he’s not the most interesting character to play.
I’ve played a few tower defence games at this point and truthfully, Max just reeks of n00b defender 101.
I’m actually a bit sad that I maxed Max out before maxing Juggernaught Max out because Juggernaught at least has some cool support abilities, but enough pooping on Max, he’s still on my top list!
Max does a good amount of damage to MOABs especially when he gets his upgrade Weak Spots which does some extra damage for the cheap cost of $400.
This makes early content extremely manageable, especially if you don’t have many characters who are a high enough level to clear through MOABs.
Weak Spots later upgrades into Bullseye which does mega damage to MOABs equally to +50 damage per dart.
This is by far one of the best MOAB shredding abilities, making me rethink my decision to bench Max.
Max can get an upgrade called Big Bloon Bounty which gives $100 per MOAB class Bloon + 10 at higher levels. This makes Max a fairly steady source of income as long as he is getting the last hit, which doesn’t always happen when you have a Supermonkey or Marceline around.
My main problem with Max is his range. He doesn’t have very much, and the majority of his optimal trinkets don’t include range.
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
Blessed Dart | 10% chance to completely destroy non-Moab bloon | Range +8 +0.5 per star | Pierce +8 +1 per 2 stars
CHARACTER SPECIFIC TRINKET:
Stone of Ancient Knowledge | Max throws 1 additional dart per attack
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
Glasses of Nerdicon | Equipped character can see camo bloons | Range +9
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Candy Dive Suit | Equipped character can be placed on water or lava and is immune to all negative effects.
Cosmic Gauntlets | Reduce activated ability cooldowns by 10% | +15% Speed
Time Travel Machine | Restarts the last round once the last life is lost | Replenishes all lives | Only works once per game
USEFUL ALLIES:
Technological Terror | A mechanized clone of the Supermonkey that went horribly wrong
SAM
Sam is a character I’ve been swapping in and out more frequently, but I’m still not sure how much I want her on my team full-time.
Sam has one of the largest ranges in the game, making her a pretty interesting mage to put the Thought Cannon Wand on. As you can see, it seems to be the battle of who will be selected to hold the best item in the game.
I personally choose not to put the Thought Cannon Wand on Sam because I feel like she has enough range on her and she doesn’t do enough AOE damage and the Ice King’s global damage seems much more appealing to me as does the Flame Princess’ insane damage.
I will say if you use the Thought Cannon Wand on Sam instead of the Flame Princess it allows you to give the Flame Princess more damage, though I don’t think that it makes that much of a difference.
Enough about the Thought Cannon Wand!
Sam has some pretty awesome upgrades such as Polymorph which transforms the largest Bloon in range into a harmless bloon animal. I’ll be honest in saying that I’m not really sure what this does, other than slow down the MOABs.
Sam also gets to choose an element, similar to Juggernaught Max.
Student of Fire allows Sam to attack using fire. Sam will be able to deal high damage to MOABs and will do extra damage if paired up with the Flame King.
Student of Ice allows Sam to attack using ice. Sam will no longer be able to deal damage to MOABs but will be able to freeze bloons.
It is strongly recommended that if you ever use Sam that you always upgrade her to Student of Fire as Student of Ice is an absolute DPS loss.
Other notable upgrades include the Mystic Portal which will send Bloons back to the start.
While you won’t see much use for this upgrade in easy content, it does come in handy with some Martian Games and strange content.
My favourite ability in this game is the Meteor Swarm. It calls down a hoard of meteors that shred through bloons and make hard level content bearable.
If you haven’t tried it out, I definitely recommend it, because it’s… AMAZING. *WARNING THOUGH* It hurts my eyes and I have to look away from the screen once I’ve placed it.
FAVOURITE WEAPON:
Wizard Lord Wand | Adds additional whirlwind attack | Pierce +10 +2 per star
MUST HAVE TRINKETS:
Googoomamameter | All bloons take +3 damage from all sources while within range of equipped character
Cryojet | All bloons near the equipped character move 30% slower
USEFUL TRINKETS:
Candy Dive Suit | Equipped character can be placed on water or lava and is immune to all negative effects.
Glaive of the Ancients | Glaives orbit the character and pop all bloons that come near
Baker’s Shard | Speed +50%
CONCLUSION
So though I have some preferences on who I use while playing Bloons Adventure Time TD, you can pretty much play most levels with any characters as long as they are a high enough level and/or have good enough trinkets.
To be honest, most main storyline quests will be manageable no matter who you choose, but the nuances of the characters come in very handy during Martian Games.
So I’m curious gamers, who do you like playing? Does your team look similar to mine? Let me know in the comments below!
David says
Thanks you this guide, I’ve been sitting on Missile for ages not using it and now I can get through missions so much faster!
Will you be doing other characters? I find Hunter Marceline very good and in send in the clones she takes me to lvl 35.
Johnny Salib says
Oh my gosh, does it not feel indefinitely faster when you blitz through the first dozen or so rounds without even seeing the majority of bloons?
I’ll be honest, I haven’t picked up any of the side characters yet, but I’ve been debating grabbing one. Hunter Marceline is definitely on the top of my list.
KingJoker_D2 says
I got the Finn sword today and I was wondering If I should put the Finn sword which is epic class or should I keep the thunderstorm sword which is legendary class…..so because u said I put the Finn sword on Finn and threw me legendary thunderstorm sword to warrior PB…..oh and I don’t have a lot of the stuff u had so I can’t equip those stuff….😭😭😭🥺🥺🥺. Anyway bye bye….
Johnny Salib says
Truthfully, I’d stick to Finn’s Sword because the activatable ability is quite handy, especially for things like the martian games or just sticky situations. If you get Dungeon Finn, I’d give him the Thunderstorm Sword immediately.
KingJoker_D2 says
Oooo…..ok! 🙂 thx! 🙂 until I get dungeon Finn I’ll use the thunderstorm sword to Warrior PB….oh and I got the black hole sword and the cursed eye sword a few days ago and idk who to use it on should I’m thinking of sharding one of them so which one should I shard? 🙁
KingJoker_D2 says
Ooooo…ok! Thx! 🙂 Anyway I got the black hole sword and the cursed eye sword a few days ago and I definitely won’t need both of them so I’m thinking of sharding one of them so which one should I shard?
KingJoker_D2 says
Lol sorry… when I sent the first reply there it didn’t go through so I wrote one again and sent then they both sent….sorry..:(
KingJoker_D2 says
I have all the characters except for the premium characters which I will get soon from the Martian store……should I buy hunter Marcie or dungeon Finn?
Johnny Salib says
I don’t have first hand experience with either of them yet 🙁 I’m sorry I can’t give an opinion.
KingJoker_D2 says
Oof that’s ok! I’m thinking of buying dungeon Finn! But the thing is I have like 20,000 Martian store currency but I need 75,000…so I got a long way to go… 🙁
Some Dude says
You should get Hunter Marcy
This is just my opinion but i have a few hundred runs in the game, and i got her in the martian shop and i neglected her at first but when i got silver tipped spikes, i knew it was her main weapon so i Immedietely put it on her and built her a little, at first she seemed decent at clearing the early stages but got pretty terrible in the late game, but give her Engineers Blueprints and she’ll surely surprise you with some Astonishing results. That was all without Mace Stake, if you ever get it, then put it on her as it will literally make her attacks at the very least 1.5x stronger
Punnyman says
I say jake is a pretty decent character especially when he is near finn. Cuz the bro fist upgrades can save your life in early game stages like in the burning rubber as it can both generate cash and lives at the end of each round.
Johnny Salib says
Agreed, I really enjoyed Jake early on, but I didn’t use him very much in the late game until I got his other upgrade Jake Suit. Now he gets rotated in and out.
Denis says
This is the best guide I’ve found. You have done a great job and shared your invaluable experience with us. My gratitude and respects to you!
Johnny Salib says
So very glad you found it so useful Denis <3
Denis says
Want to ask you, do you know what kind of chest (dropped by a magic wand) is?
https://ibb.co/TM8g9xZ
https://ibb.co/NVMhD4P
What’s inside?
Johnny Salib says
I’m not sure if the chests have names to be honest, but they can drop Gems, Coins or Money.
Denis says
Thank you very much and have a nice game!
fadedmaple says
Thanks for sharing, just curious why Elder Plop’s Scepter is a must have. Also is the r/c plane really that strong? I make them to shard today.

Hey Faded, Elder Plop’s Scepter is great to have on at least one character to ensure that you don’t have early game tough bloons slipping, especially if you’re AFKing for the most part. Same for R/C plane, it’s not the most powerful and I wouldn’t recommend having multiples of them, but having at least one can be very helpful. They are definitely lower on the priority list, but you’re going to find yourself having to fill in lots of slots because there aren’t enough Trinkets.
Hope that helps.

Flame Princess must have trinket: Wizard Nunchuks ; Banana Replicator
Wizard Nunchuks special properties: 10% chance to stun any bloon for 2 seconds. Larger MOABs are stunned for less time.
But did you realize Flame Princess’s Flame Thrower/Heat Ray= Constant damage and extremely high pierce? That would makes the 10% of Wizard Nunchuks into like 90% chances and almost freeze solid all BDB, DTD, ZOMB. With BDB and ZOMB moving like 1 step per 3-4 seconds.
Banana Replicator for a simple reason: Flame Princess’s attack traces and pierces itself through all the bloons on the path
