When it comes to crafting, players have access to a variety of crafting stations including the Science Machine, Alchemy Engine, Think Tank, Tackle Receptacle, Shadow Manipulator or Prestihatitator.
Unlike many other crafting stations, players will not be able to craft a station for the Celestial Tab but instead will have to locate an object that provides them access to it, similar to the Ancient Pseudoscience Machine.
The interesting thing about the Celestial Tab is that it can be accessed by using 4 different stations including the Celestial Orb, Celestial Altar, Celestial Tribute or the Celestial Sanctum.
Though players will be able to access the Celestial Tab by using any of the above, players will only have access to select recipes when standing near the Celestial Orb and different recipes when standing next to the Celestial Altar, Celestial Tribute or the Celestial Sanctum.
The following guide will take you through everything you need to know about the Celestial Orb, Celestial Altar, Celestial Tribute, Celestial Sanctum as well as all of the recipes that can be found in the Celestial Tab.
CELESTIAL ORB
The Celestial Orb must be located inside of a smooth Meteor Boulder that has landed during a Meteor Shower.
Players will have to rely on RNG in order to spawn in a smooth Meteor Boulder, though chances are fairly high especially as it seems like meteor showers are fairly common in Don’t Starve Together.
Celestial Orbs only provide players with two crafting recipes and although the amount of recipes may seem minimal to players, these two crafting recipes are some of the most useful in DST as a whole.
Before I cover those, I would like to let players know that the Celestial Orb can be located on a map once uncovered, acting similar to a waypoint or the Moonlenses.
It should also be noted that a player cannot “steal” the Celestial Orb as it will automatically drop out of a player’s inventory, similar to Chester’s Eye Bone, meaning that players should not fear the Celestial Orb being griefed. The reason this mechanic is implemented is due to the fact that the player will only be able to locate a single Celestial Orb on their server.
The following are the two recipes players can craft when standing next to the Celestial Orb:
MOON ROCK IDOL
The Moon Rock Idol requires 1 Moon Rock and 1 Purple Gem to prototype.
The Moon Rock Idol is by far one of the most useful objects in the game and is the main reason I rush to find a Celestial Orb as it is the only way players can despawn in order to rejoin a server with a different character.
Players must offer up a Moon Rock Idol to the Celestial Portal in order to change to a character, dropping their Inventory though keeping their Day count, all of their crafting knowledge, any adopted Critters as well their Map exploration.
Players will want to use a Moon Rock Idol in order to access another character’s exclusive crafting recipes, which comes especially helpful in mid-game if players want to set up things like Wormwood’s Bramble Traps, Winona’s Catapults, or Wendy’s Sisturn.
Players can also take advantage of being able to switch fo Maxwell or Woodie in order to gather resources quickly or can even switch over to Wickerbottom right before Winter in order to gather enough food to tithe them over for the season.
Speaking of Wickerbottom, if players start off with her and change to a new character they will have to unlock all of the Science Machine recipes as Wickerbottom never truly learns those recipes, meaning that they were never actually unlocked.
PORTAL PARAPHERNALIA
The Portal Paraphernalia requires 1 Board and 1 Rope to prototype and is used to start the process of converting the Florid Postern to the Celestial Portal.
After a player places the Portal Paraphernalia on the Florid Postern players will witness a change to the Florid Postern that makes it appear as if it is under construction, allowing the player to place 20 Moon Rocks and 1 Purple Moonlens in order to complete it.
If players choose, they can place the required items into the item slots over time instead of placing them all at once as the slots will keep the placed items as a Chest would. This will help a player manage their inventory a bit better, although it may not be required.
As mentioned, players will use the Celestial Portal to change characters by turning in a Moonrock Idol, though it should be noted that doing so will also consume the Moonrock Idol.
The Celestial Portal has no other uses and will still act as the server’s spawn point as well as a place for players to resurrect if playing on Endless.
CELESTIAL ALTAR
The Celestial Altar requires players to locate The Celestial Altar Base, The Celestial Altar Orb and the Celestial Altar Idol and then must place it on a Celestial Fissure in order to access the Celestial Tab.
Pieces of the Celestial Altar will be located in the Lunar Mine Biome trapped in Inviting Formations.
It should be noted that players will have to carry the pieces of the Celestial Altar on their Chest Slot, which will slot them down similar to the way a Suspicious Marble would.
CELESTIAL TRIBUTE
The Celestial Tribute can be obtained from the Crab King if players defeat him with Pearl’s Pearl socketed.
Similar to pieces of the Celestial Altar, players will have to utilize their Chest Slot in order to carry the Celestial Tribute to a Celestial Fissure in order to activate it.
CELESTIAL SANCTUM
The Celestial Sanctum requires two items in order to craft being the Celestial Sanctum Icon and the Celestial Sanctum Ward.
Players will need an Astral Detector, which requires players to travel into the Caves to unlock the Blueprint, to locate and will be found somewhere on the “surface” of the player’s main island.
Similar to all the stations above, players will need to use their Chest Slot to carry the pieces of the Celestial Sanctum, slowing them down like Suspicious Marble.
Players will also need to place the pieces into a Celestial Fissure in order to access the Celestial Tab.
WHAT DO THE CELESTIAL ALTAR, CELESTIAL TRIBUTE AND CELESTIAL SANCTUM UNLOCK?
As mentioned, players will have access to different crafting recipes when standing next to the Celestial Altar, Celestial Tribute and Celestial Sanctum, the following are those recipes:
MOON GLASS AXE
The Moon Glass Axe requires 3 Moon Shards and 2 Twigs to craft and will provide players with faster chopping speeds.
The Moon Glass Axe will chop down trees at 2.5x the speed and has the capability of felling Small Trees in 2 hits, Medium Trees in 4 hits and Large Trees in 6 hits.
Moon Glass Axes only have 80 durability making them extremely fragile, however the trade off for speed is pretty epic.
Players will be happy to note that the Moon Glass Axe deals 34 damage to mobs, making it a decent weapon, though players may not want to do that as it has a fairly low durability.
GLASS CUTTER
The Glass Cutter requires 6 Moon Shards and 1 Board to craft and is used as a strong weapon that is equal to the Dark Sword.
The Glass Cutter deals a total of 68 damage per hit and has 75 durability, though notably players will only lose half the durability of the Glass Cutter when used against Shadow Creatures, Shadow Pieces and The Ancient Fuelweaver.
The Glass Cutter at most will have 150 uses.
MOON CRATER TURF
Moon Crater Turf requires 2 Moon Shards and 1 Moon Rock to craft and provides players with nothing more than an aesthetic change to their Turf.
Players will be happy to know that they can plant Berry Bushes, Grass Tufts, Saplings, Spiky Bushes, Lureplants, Pine Cones and Birchnuts on Moon Crater Turf.
Notably, Lureplants and Eyeplants cannot grow on Moon Crater Turf.
MUTATED FUNGAL TURF
Mutated Fungal Turf requires 3 Moon Shrooms and 1 Moon Rock to craft and provides players with nothing more than an aesthetic change to their Turf.
Similar to Moon Crater Turf, players will be able to plant Berry Bushes, Grass Tufts, Saplings, Spiky Bushes, Pine Cones and Birchnuts and will not be able to spawn Lureplants and their Eyeplants.
BATH BOMB
Bath Bombs require 6 Lune Tree Blossoms and 1 Nitre to craft which can be thrown into Hot Springs to cause the Hot Spring to emit steam more rapidly.
Using a Bath Bomb will attract Saladmanders to the Hot Spring, causing them to turn ripe if they are by the Hot Spring for long enough.
During Full Moons players can throw a Bath Bomb into a Hot Spring to have them spawn Moon Glass in the centre.
Using Bath Bombs on a Full Moon will essentially provide players with 5 Moon Shards and the potential for a Red Gem or Blue Gem.
“MOON” FIGURE SKETCH
Players will need 1 Marble, 1 Cut Stone or 1 Moon Stone to craft the Moon Figure.
MOON MOTH FIGURE SKETCH
Players will need 1 Marble, 1 Cut Stone or 1 Moon Stone to craft the Moon Moth Figure.
