About a week ago I spoke about one of the many questionable tasks I put myself through and you might have guessed I’ve done the same with the topic we’re talking about today.
If you didn’t read my post on how to quickly get Gatherers’ Scrips, here are the Cliffs Notes about the absurd farming I put myself through… I made it my goal to farm over 18,000+ White Gatherers’ Scrips, the current expansion’s lesser Gatherers’ Scrip, to unlock every single timed node in the game.
While I’m happy I’m done farming Gatherers’ Scrips, the challenge allowed me to quantify the amount of effort and time it takes to farm Gatherers’ Scrips and clearly now I’ve moved on to what I thought would be more dreadful… Crafters’ Scrips.
Now, the real reason I had been slacking so hard on Gatherers’ Scrips is that I always placed my priorities on collecting Crafters’ Scrips first. There are a few reasons for this, one being that Gatherers’ are much easier to level than Crafters and to me unlocking Crafting Recipes is much more useful than nodes as you can simply buy the resources from the Marketboard.
I do typically find Crafters’ Scrips to be more tedious to farm than Gatherers’ Scrips and there is no denying that you need many more Crafters’ Scrips than Gathering Scrips as not only are there more Crafters than Gatherers, but Crafting Scrips are much more useful than Gathering Scrips due to the sheer amount of resources and tasks you can use them on.
The real reason I even thought about covering how to efficiently farm Crafters’ Scrips was because I recently started getting all of my Splenderous Tools, Endwalker’s level 90 Relic Tools. At first, I was going to completely avoid them and do them on a later date if I wanted them for glam, but my husband swiftly pointed out that if I was ever going to complete a Relic tool, not only are the Splenderous Tools one of the better ones to complete, but they would be useful for my complaint that Expert Crafting was too tedious and difficult for me.
Now, what I didn’t know was just how many White Crafters’ Scrips I would burn through in order to complete my Tools. While I was prepared to gather and craft all of the intermediate ingredients, I had no idea that I would be spending thousands of Crafters’ Scrips for each step, if I had known I would have saved my Scrips instead of spending them a week prior, but aren’t you lucky that I’m impulsive because I’ve got some really great tips for you now.
As the methods of collecting both sets of Crafters’ Scrips are the same, I will be covering both in this post and will give advice on which methods you should focus on for each to optimize.
Note: If you have any questions about FFXIV that you want me to cover feel free to leave them in a comment below, you can also ask me while I am streaming on Twitch, YouTube or in our community discord.
WHAT ARE CRAFTERS’ SCRIPS
Crafters’ Scrips are a unique currency that can only be obtained by… well Crafters! The majority of items players can purchase using this currency are only obtained using these Scrips, though there are some resources such as ingredients that can be purchased or sold by players on the Marketboard.
There are always two types of Crafters’ Scrips at the game at all times. At the time of writing this post, they are as follows:
Purple Scrips – the lower-tier Scrip
Orange Scrips – the higher-tier Scrip
Throughout this post, you will see me refer to them as lower-tier and higher-tier Scrips and this is due to the functionality of Scrips in general. Similar to currencies such as Tomestones, not including Tomestones of Poetics, every expansion the higher-tier Scrip from the previous expansion will become the lower-tier Scrip allowing players to purchase all items that were obtained that way.
White Scrips took the spot of Yellow Scrips which took the place of Red Scrips which took the place of Blue Scrips. So in short, everything you can currently buy with White Scrips will soon be purchasable using Purple Scrips.
Though a player may initially assume that the higher-tier Srips are more useful and the lower-tier ones are used only for obtaining older items, this is actually not true.
Higher-tier Scrips are typically used for purchasing Gear the second-best Crafting Gear in an expansion and while this is a substantial reward that will set a player forward, after these are purchased there’s truly not much you can obtain using the higher-tier Scrips other than a few resources for the most recent crafts.
Most notably this is how players obtain the main ingredient for the most recent food used for Raids and a resource that is used to upgrade crafted Gear.
Lower-tier Crafters’ Scrips, on the other hand, are a catch-all currency that covers rewards such as recipes for Master Crafts, Registerable Collectables like Orchestrion Rolls, Crafters’ Gear under the maximum level cap and ingredients for Relic Tools. Though the average player will not need much of this resource, those who are attempting to finish things like the Splenderous Tools will go through thousands of these per step and this can be pretty difficult to accomplish especially if players are trying to do it quickly.
As a final note, players will also be able to purchase Materia using both of these currencies, though the higher-tier Scrips can only purchase the absolute top Materia which is currently X.
WHO DO I EXCHANGE MY MY CRAFTERS’ SCRIPS WITH?
There are three different types of Vendors that will exchange Crafters’ Scrips for rewards, but only two types are worth talking about as one type only stocks the Crafter-related supplies from the expansion the area is located in.
For clarity’s sake, the two types of Vendors you will most regularly visit are the Scrip Exchange and the Splendor Merchants. Scrip Exchange Vendors are located in every main city and will be able to sell you anything that Splendor Vendors provide you as long as you have unlocked that content. I personally use the Vendors in Limsa Lominsa as this is my Return city, but as mentioned they are in all of the major cities where you typically start or end an expansion.
When visiting a Scrip Exchange players will utilize a drop-down menu to select the type of Scrip they want to utilize to make purchases as well as the reward type they would like. These are segregated by level and as mentioned players may not see all the rewards if they have not completed associated quests that are linked to that particular tier of Scrips. In most cases, this is simply unlocking the Custom Deliveries of each expansion will do this for you.
The only thing these Vendors are unable to sell are base Relic Tools and some of the resources required to upgrade them as a player will have to head to the areas where the quests associated with them and where get the base tool.
The Relic Tools currently include:
Level 50 Mastercraft Tools from Guiding Star in Mor Dhona (X:21.9, Y:6.9)
Level 80 Skysteel Tools from the Skysteel Engineer in Foundation (X:14.2 Y:12.5)
Level 90 Splendrous Tools from Chora-Zoi in The Crystarium (X:7.8 Y:11.4)
Previous Relic Tools are not worth farming due to their stats, however, the Relic Tool from the expansion you are currently on tends to be comparable to a pentamelded Crafted Craters’ Tool. If you have the time, I strongly recommend getting these Tools as soon as they are released though I must pre-warn you that they take hours of Crafting and Gathering or will cost a decent amount of Gil for the resources required.
Technically players can also purchase the Scrip resources that are used for these Tools, though they tend to be pricy due to the knowledge of the demand for Scrips.
WHAT ARE THE BEST WAYS TO FARM CRAFTERS’ SCRIPS
The method a player chooses to far Crafters’ Scrips will depend on a few things:
- If you need higher-tier or lower-tier Scrips
- If you are trying to obtain Gatherers’ Scrips in tandem with Crafters’ Scrips, especially if Scrips are your main source of Hi-Cordial
- If you have a goal you’ve given yourself a time limit on
- If there is a form of content you absolutely despise and thus don’t want to participate in the task
Though there are plenty of tasks a player can complete, especially when it comes to the lower-tier Crafters Scrips, I personally despised some of them and refused to complete them even though I knew they would yield decent amounts of Scrips. For me, it became a question of whether I could send my Retainers on Ventures that would provide me with the resources needed or just take the easier routes to farm Scrips.
Farming Crafters’ Scrips was also the first time I broke my “Iron Man” rule, which is the self-imposed rule that I cannot purchase resources off the Marketboard and must either gather them or Craft them. Luckily if players are not in a rush these Scrips are easily acquired in high quantities with very little effort, but this is time-gated.
SINGLE-QUEST LINES (MAXIMUM PROFITS FOR VARYING AMOUNTS OF EFFORT)
I covered these methods in regards to Gatherers and spoke about how tremendously easy they were, however, when it came to Crafters I found them a lot more difficult and boring.
You see, with Gatherers the single-time quest lines were easy since you only needed to be in one place to blitz through them all, but with Crafters the amount of gathering you had to do is so heavily dependent on the Job you are completing the quests on.
Shockingly I found Culinarians to be the easiest as although the Crafts took more types of resources, all of them were exceptionally inexpensive on the Marketboard and if they weren’t, well… you only needed 6 of them at most.
Now, in truth, this is a me problem and it was definitely fueled by the fact that I always have something I want to gather and craft since that’s the primary way I make Gil and honestly, I somewhat rushed making my Relic Tool, trying to acquire it in a maximum of 3 days so I could get back to Expert Crafting.
I strongly recommend if players are planning on completing either of these two quest lines they either pre-purchase the ingredients or look up what ingredients are needed to craft them so they can chuck them out one after the other, especially if you are giving yourself a time limit.
There are currently two quest lines that are going to provide players with heaps of the lower-tier Scrips, though these start at level 70 and level 80.
To me, both quest lines were equal in difficulty, though this is mostly due to the fact that I completed them at level 90 with the best Scrip Gear. Typically a player would want to complete these as they are levelling their Crafters as there is no difference in the rewards unless a player doesn’t turn in high-quality versions of the resources.
Players will only be able to gain lower-tier Scrips this way, so they are mostly useful for fueling your Relic Tool, however, if players are not interested in Relic Tools and have yet to unlock all the Mastercraft Tomes, these can be an extremely useful dump for the Scrips even if you don’t plan on utilizing them.
I’m honestly really glad that I waited to complete these as this significantly reduced the amount of time it took to get my Relic Tools completed, but this is also because I waited for the Loporrit Tribal Quests to be released before I got my Crafters up, mostly due to the time off I took during Endwalker.
CRYSTARIUM DELIVERIES / THE CRYSTALLINE MEAN
Crystarium Deliveries are a series of level 70-80 quests that can be completed once per each set of Crafters. This means that players will have to pick and choose which Crafters they want to focus on if they’re focused on levelling, but if a player has maxed out all of their Crafters they can simply choose the Crafter they have the most Crystals for.
Players can locate the Crysterium Deliveries in The Crystalline Mean located at (X:11.0, Y:8.8) and (X:11.1, Y:8.2).
Crystarium Deliveries are split up into the following groups:
Forging: Blacksmith, Armorer and/or Goldsmith
Crafting: Carpenter, Leatherworker and/or Weaver
Nourishing: Alchemist and/or Culinarian
The most important thing to note when it comes to these deliveries is that players will gain much higher rewards for crafting High-Quality versions of these resources. I would strongly recommend that you be patient with these as they are one-time rewards. There are a few ways you help ensure this for yourself when you are doing it to level:
- Always make sure you are wearing the best Gear and Tools you can
- Meld your Gear with Materia to improve your stats
- Use Crafting Food to boost your stats with a priority on Control for quality boosts
- Always make sure you utilize high-quality intermediate ingredients to get a significant boost in quality as you start your Craft
Players will receive the following amounts of Scrips for the quests based on if they turn in HQ resources or NQ:
Level 70: For 6 NQ turn-ins players will receive 396 lower-tier Crafters’ Scrips and for 6 HQ turn-ins players will receive 594 lower-tier Scrips
Level 73: For 6 NQ turn-ins players will receive 480 lower-tier Crafters’ Scrips and for 6 HQ turn-ins players will receive 720 lower-tier Scrips
Level 75:For 6 NQ turn-ins players will receive 558 lower-tier Crafters’ Scrips and for 6 HQ turn-ins players will receive 840 lower-tier Scrips
Level 78: For 6 NQ turn-ins players will receive 636 lower-tier Crafters’ Scrips and for 6 HQ turn-ins players will receive 954 lower-tier Scrips
As you can see it really pays off to turn in high-quality items, especially when you are doing these all in a row at the maximum level. These are terribly easy to complete once a player has Trained Eye and the majority of time a player will spend it simply gathering the resources required for the crafts.
Even if a player isn’t the maximum level these quests are pretty darn easy to Macro, especially if you have HQ versions of the intermediate crafts.
STUDIUM DELIVERIES / THE STUDIUM
The Studium works very similar to The Crystarium Deliveries, but players will get more Scrips and experience.
Studium Deliveries require a player to complete a level 82 main story quest, but the quest lines can be started with a Crafter that is level 80.
The Studium is located in Old Sharlayan at X:4.0 Y:9.4.
Unfortuantely, at the time of writing this post there is no way to actually dupe these crafts, however, players will be able to utilize the same tips as above. The following is a refresher:
The Jobs are split up in the following categories:
Archeology: Blacksmith, Armorer and/or Goldsmith
Astronomy: Carpenter, Leatherworker and/or Weaver
Medicine: Alchemist and/or Culinarian
The most important thing to note when it comes to these deliveries is that players will gain much higher rewards for crafting the highest Collectability versions of these resources.
Players will receive the following amounts of Scrips for the quests based on if they turn in Maximum Collectability resources (600+) or mid-level Collectability (250-599):
Level 80: For 6 mid-level Collectability turn-ins players will receive 600 lower-tier Crafters’ Scrips and for 6 maximum-level Collectability turn-ins players will receive 900 lower-tier Scrips
Level 83: For 6 mid-level Collectability turn-ins players will receive 660 lower-tier Crafters’ Scrips and for 6 maximum-level Collectability turn-ins players will receive 990 lower-tier Scrips
Level 85:For 6 mid-level Collectability turn-ins players will receive 690 lower-tier Crafters’ Scrips and for 6 maximum-level Collectability turn-ins players will receive 1032 lower-tier Scrips
Level 88: For 6 mid-level Collectability turn-ins players will receive 750 lower-tier Crafters’ Scrips and for 6 maximum-level Collectability turn-ins players will receive 1,122 lower-tier Scrips
By far this is the most incredibly fast method of getting lower-tier Scrips in one go, especially if you pre-farm the Materials using your Retainers. As I have not fully completed these since I took a small break from completing all of my Relic Tools, this is how I’m going to finish them off as any other way would be pointless.
CUSTOM DELIVERIES (WEEKLY AND MOST EFFICIENT)
Hands down the absolute best method of getting Crafters’ Scrips of both kinds is going to be by completing Custom Deliveries.
Custom Deliveries are a task that players can complete once a week, however, players will need to choose whether they want to complete these on a Crafter or a Gatherer as both share the allowances permitted each week.
I don’t typically complete Custom Deliveries with Gatherers as I don’t typically need Gatherers’ Scrips and I find them extremely easy to level up, so if I’m feeling burned out with the other methods of getting Crafters’ Scrips, I will typically wait for the weekly reset to get a good chunk in one go.
There are a few things players will need to note when it comes to Custom Deliveries:
- You only have 12 allowances a week
- You can only submit 6 Crafts per NPC
- Players will gain more Scrips based on the quality of the Collectable they craft
- Players will never need to gather resources for these Collectables and instead will buy the base ingredient from a Vendor nearby
- Players are able to use Trained Eye on any of the Custom Delivery crafts that are 70 or below in order to max them out immediately
- Players will only receive the lower-tier Scrip if they turn in a resource on a Job that has not hit the maximum level, however, if you turn in a resource on a job at max it will provide you with both types.
I strongly recommend that players get all of the Custom Delivery NPCs up to the maximum as soon as they can even if the ones you haven’t completed are at a much lower level than you. The only time I would recommend against this is if you are using Custom Deliveries to level up your Crafters. Otherwise, the biggest benefit to having all of your Custom Delivery NPCs at maximum is that every week each maxed-out NPC has a chance to provide a bonus on rewards.
Though players will typically want to complete the most recent Custom Deliveries since they provide the highest number of Scrips, an NPC that has a bonus on it will provide even more, even when it is a lower-level NPC. If I need both Gatherers’ and Crafters’ Scrips I’ll make my decision on which I’m going to farm based on which bonuses are up.
By the time a player maxes out all of the Custom Deliveries they will typically have at least two bonuses on each category of Custom Delivery meaning that they can do two bonus NPCs for Crafting or Gathering each week.
This is not always true, however, the chances are extremely high.
To me, the biggest perk of Custom Deliveries is the fact that you never have to go out of your way to get resources in order to complete them. The fact that you simply buy whatever resource you need from a nearby Vendor really helps reduce the frustration a player will feel when it comes to Crafting.
LOCATIONS OF CUSTOM DELIVERIES
Level 60 – Zhloe Aliapoh in Idyllshire at X:4.6, Y:6.7

Level 66 – Adkiragh in Idyllshire at X:4.8, Y:6.6
Level 70 – Kai-Shirr in Eulmore, The Canopy at X:12.2, Y:9.9
Level 70 – Ehll Tou in The Firmament at X:13.5, Y:11.2

Level 80 – Margrat in Labyrinthos at X:20.4, Y:20.1
COLLECTABLE CRAFTING FOR COLLECTABLE APPRAISERS (UNLIMITED FASTEST YIELD)
I have to be honest, even though this is by far the easiest method of getting Crafters’ Scrips it’s one that I typically don’t complete, mostly due to the fact that there is no time crunch to complete these.
There are a few resources Collectable Crafting is the most efficient way of getting Crafters’ Scrips and they are as follows:
- If a player has a Crafter they still need to level up this is one of the fastest methods to do so as there is no limit on how many of a single item you can turn in
- Some of the Crafters require very few resources for their Collectables, allowing a player to hoard the required resources in order to Craft as many Collectables as they need at one time
- Though they provide fewer Scrips a player can choose to craft the lower-level Crafts repeatedly as they are faster to Craft and generally the resources are less expensive on the Marketboard if you don’t want to gather. Note, this is only if you need the lesser Scrips as only 1 Craft for each Crafter provides the higher-tier Scrips
- A player can choose to craft everything on the Crafter that has the most Crystals to avoid running out. Oddly this is the most important quality-of-life improvement since I craft at least 300-400 items a day on average and am regularly running out of Crystals.
If you are trying to get your Relic Tools and have already completed the side quests above, I recommend this method a lot. I would keep massive stacks of the necessary resources in your Chocobo Saddlebag and wouldn’t worry too much about overfarming as these Collectable Crafts never change, meaning even when they get out-levelled you will be able to turn them in for a few Scrips.
The next time I’m in a pinch for lesser-scrips my plan is to spam collectables a single-tier down from max. My reasoning for this is simply laziness as I’d prefer to craft more items with a 2 button macro than wait for a longer Macro to complete so I can get back to business.
At the end of the day, this is going to be more effort than simply completing Custom Deliveries as you get fewer Scrips from Collectable Crafting than you do from a single Custom Delivery. The trade-off is that you are not capped on how many turn-ins you can do a week.
Players can check what Collectables they can craft for Exchanges in every major city. I personally choose to do all of this in Limsa Lominsa as there are Retainers and Marketboards nearby in case I need them for any reason.
The NPC you are looking for is called a Collectable Appraiser and is located in all these positions:
Limsa Lominsa (Aetheryte: Hawkers’ Alley)
Gridania (Aetheryte: Leatherworkers’ Guild)
Ul’dah (Aetheryte: Sapphire Avenue Exchange)
Mor Dhona (X:22.4, Y:6.7)
Idyllshire (X:5.7, Y:7.0)
Rhalgr’s Reach (X:9.8, Y:12.5)
Eulmore (X:11.6, Y:10.8)
Radz-at-Han (X:11.7, Y:9.8)
CONCLUSION
At the end of the day, the method by which a player chooses to farm Crafters’ Scrips is going to depend on how much the player is in a rush and how much time they have to play FFXIV.
I would strongly recommend that players complete their Custom Deliveries each week to begin saving up on Scrips for when they need them, especially if they are planning on completing content like the Relic Crafting tools.
If you are nearing your Crafters’ Scrip cap, buy the resources that take Scrips in advance and throw them into your Chocobo Saddlebag so you don’t have to worry about over-capping. I accidentally over-capped during my grind one week because I wasn’t warned about the lower-tier Scrip threshold, even though I was warned about the higher-tier. I guess there just isn’t a warning for the lower-tier Scrips like there is the higher-tier which is a bit disappointing.
If you’re in a rush to get Crafters’ Scrips I strongly recommend you use the Collectable Appraiser. These tend to be quick and painless, especially if you hoard all the ingredients you need well in advance, but if for whatever reason you haven’t finished the Crystarium Deliveries or the Studium Deliveries I would look up those recipes and pre-craft them all for a quick dump.
Each of these quest lines should cover you for a decent number of steps for your Relic tool and as I mentioned, if you pre-purchase the ingredients you need using Scrips you can simply pop some food and craft everything once you’re ready.
But I’m curious, what’s your favourite method of gathering Crafters’ Scrips? Do you also spam the lower-level Collectables because you can’t stand waiting for longer macros to complete? What do you think is the most worth it method? Let me know in the comments below!
