I recently went on a rampage and gathered 18,225 White Gatherers’ Scrips to unlock every single Folklore Tome that is available for Gatherers and let me tell you, though I did it in a day I was bored out of my mind. While yes, a lot of the blame is due to me not taking any breaks, I was genuinely curious how long the process would take and if it was worth it for players to do.
Realistically players can take their time when it comes to getting Scrips, whether it’s for Gatherers or Crafters and some methods are going to be much more efficient than others. So, let’s try to save you from becoming the weird little tester that I am and give you all the tools you need to get your Gatherers’ Scrips as quickly and efficiently as we can.
If you have any questions about FFXIV that you want me to cover feel free to leave them in a comment below, you can also ask me while I am streaming on Twitch, YouTube or in our community discord.
Note: At the time of writing this post when I say “lower-tier” Scrips this refers to White Scrips and “higher-tier” Scrips refers to Purple Scrips.
WHAT ARE GATHERERS’ SCRIPS?
Gatherers’ Scrips are an exclusive currency in FFXIV that allows players to purchase a variety of unique content such as registerable collectables, the second-best Gatherers’ Gear from every expansion and Folklore Tomes that provide players with access to Timed Nodes that provide resources for a variety of Mastercrafts.
There are always two types of Gatherers’ Scrips in each expansion, each having its own loot table.
The most recent Gatherers’ Scrip will always provide players with the latest Tools and Gear as well as the current highest tier of Gathering Materia. This Gear is only second to penta-melded Crafted Gear and will typically help carry a player well into the next expansion before they have to change Gear.
Players can also purchase the latest Materials for Crafting as well as the highest-level bait by using the latest Scrips.
Though all these rewards are great, players tend to need the lower-tier Scrips more as they shockingly have many more purchase options.
Each expansion when the newest Scrip retires it will take the place of the older Scrip, becoming the newest catch-all currency.
White Scrips took the spot of Yellow Scrips which took the place of Red Scrips which took the place of Blue Scrips. So in short, everything you can currently buy with White Scrips will soon be purchasable using Purple Scrips.
Notable purchases for the “Lesser Scrips” include Relic Tools for Gatherers, Folklore Tomes, lesser Materia as well as older Materials that can be used to craft outdated resources.
Players will also have access to a variety of Furniture, Registerable Collectables like Barding and Music and the ever-thick and juicy… “Hi-Cordial.” I legitimately go on runs for Lesser Scrips to get heaps of Hi-Cordial as this is the best way to obtain it.
WHO CAN I GIVE MY GATHERERS’ SCRIPS TO?
There are three different types of Vendors a player can trade their Gatherers’ Scrips to, but only two types are worth talking about as one type only stocks the Gatherer-related supplies from the expansion it is physically located in.
For clarity’s sake, the two types of Vendors you will most regularly visit are the Scrip Exchange and the Splendor Merchants. I highly recommend making note of the Scrip Exchange Vendors in every main city as they will be able to sell you anything that Splendor Venders provide you and they can be especially useful when your Return is in a city like Limsa Lominsa or one of the expansion major cities.
When visiting a Scrip Exchange players can utilize a drop-down menu to select the type of Scrip they want to use to make purchases and the type of reward they want. Though this is said, players may not see all the rewards if they have not completed associated quests that are linked to that particular tier of Scrips. In most cases, this is simply unlocking the Custom Deliveries of each expansion.
The only thing these Vendors are unable to sell are base Relic Tools and some of the resources required to upgrade them as a player will have to head to the areas where the quests associated with them and where get the base tool.
The Relic Tools currently include:
Level 50 Mastercraft Tools from Guiding Star in Mor Dhona (X:21.9, Y:6.9)
Level 80 Skysteel Tools from the Skysteel Engineer in Foundation (X:14.2 Y:12.5)
Level 90 Splendrous Tools from Chora-Zoi in The Crystarium (X:7.8 Y:11.4)
Previous Relic Tools are not worth farming as they take too much time to complete all the steps to acquire, however, the Relic Tool from the expansion you are currently on tends to be comparable to a penta melded Crafted Gathering Tool. If you have the time, I strongly recommend getting these as soon as they are released though I must pre-warn you if you’ve never completed one before they take hours of Gathering so if it’s not something you want, the highest tier Scip Gear will be good enough for the majority of crafts.
WHAT ARE THE BEST WAYS TO FARM GATHERERS’ SCRIPS
There are shockingly various ways to obtain Gatherers’ Scrips, though they are not treated equally.
The most profitable yields of Scrips are locked behind one-time quest lines, the second most profitable means are locked behind weekly timers and the least profitable way can be farmed unlimitedly, however, it will take a great deal of effort and can leave a player burned out.
As someone who took a break from FFXIV shortly after I completed Endwalker, I was tremendously far behind on my Crafters and Gatherers. This was a decision I ultimately made to stream a larger variety of games on Twitch, but I’m back in the game full-time as you can see from the number of guides I’ve been posting and by the fact that I’m streaming XIV the majority of the time.
When I came back to the game somehow my main focus shifted from being a full-time Pew-Pew gamer to a Crafter & Gatherer main. A lot of this is since I can focus on writing while having my Crafters auto-craft and I’m at the point where my Retainer’s Ventures bring me enough resources to craft everything I need.
I digress, when I got back to the game I noticed that the Gear I had on my Gatherers was not as efficient as it could be. My stats were so low that Boons weren’t triggering and quite honestly everything was taking more time than it needed to take.
Though I recognize that I have more time to play FFXIV than the average player, there’s still nothing worse than feeling like you are wasting time, especially in a game as big as FFXIV that has such variety in content. So, I made it my goal to do the following in a week:
- Get the Highest Gatherer Scrip Gear including the perfect Materia for the content I need to complete
- Purchase all the Folklore Tomes to unlock all timed nodes so I could be fully self-sufficient
- Passively collect Registerable Collectables so I never had to think of them again
Once those were complete my goal swiftly became to finish the Relic Tools so I had options to glamour my Gatherers. Now, as some of these were more of a priority than others, I used different methods to complete these and I’ll explain why in each section.
SINGLE-QUEST LINES (MAXIMUM PROFIT FOR LITTLE EFFORT)
There are currently two quest lines that are extremely useful for players to complete if they are hoping to get the lower-tier Scrips. Unfortunately, these are quite late in the game and require a player to be at least level 70 or 80, depending on the quest line.
These quests can be turned in by using a Botanist, Miner or Fisher and not only will they provide a massive amount of EXP, they have the biggest yield of Gatherers’ White Scrips in one go.
I’m personally happy I waited to complete both of these quest lines as I find levelling up Gatherers to be ridiculously easy and the amount of White Scrips you get is directly correlated to the Collectability of the turn-ins you provide, well at least for the level 80+.
The following is all you need to know about both.
CRYSTARIUM DELIVERIES / THE CRYSTALLINE MEAN
Though easily confused with Custom Deliveries, Crystarium Deliveries are a single complete quest line that will provide players with a generous amount of White Scrips.
This is an extremely easy quest line at this time as when it was initially released players were able to gather high-quality resources from nodes and that is no longer possible. Now this quest line simply requires you to turn in 18 of the same resources collected by either a Botanist or Miner or 6 Fish gathered by a Fisher.
Though these quests can only be done once, players essentially have access to two quest lines, one being shared with the Botanist and Miner and the other being unique only to the Fisher.
Both will provide the same amount of White Gatherer Scrips even though the amounts of resources required are different.
Crystarium Deliveries are unlocked in The Crystarium in The Crystalline Mean located at (X:11.0, Y:8.8) and (X:11.1, Y:8.2).
These quests will be grayed out unless a player is on the required Job and this will be the easiest way to tell whether or not the NPC you are heading to is meant for Fishers or Botanists/Miners.
Players will receive the following amount of Scrips per each quest:
Level 70: 594 White Gatherers’ Scrips
Level 73: 720 White Gatherers’ Scrips
Level 75: 834 White Gatherers’ Scrips
Level 78: 954 White Gatherers’ Scrips
I used the Crystarium Deliveries to fuel my purchases for my Splenderous Tools Relics as they were in the same location. Alternative uses could be for the Folklore Tomes if you are hoping to unlock Timed Nodes. If you still need Gear for lower level Crafters you can also utilize these lower-tier Scrips for those.
As these quests provide players with good amounts of Experience players may want to complete them while levelling between 70-80, I’m not upset I waited though as they single-handedly bought me the base Splenderous Relic Tools and I genuinely couldn’t be arsed to farm White Gatherers’ Scrips anymore.
STUDIUM DELIVERIES
Studium Deliveries work in a very similar way to Crystarium Deliveries, however, it will require more effort from players as they follow the methods of gathering that were implemented during Endwalker.
As this is a relatively new system we do not expect any major changes to arise in Dawntrail, but I will let you know if for whatever reason they do change.
Studium Deliveries work in almost the exact way that Custom Deliveries for Gatherers work these days.
Players will need to head to nodes to gather Collectables. Unlike the majority of Collectable Nodes or Fishing Spots, these are always up meaning that a player can complete all the quests in one go.
Similar to the Crystarium Deliveries, players can complete one quest line on a Botanist or Miner and another on a Fisher. However, unlike the Crystarium Deliveries, collectability matters and the higher the collectability the more experience and White Gatherers’ Scrips you get.
For this reason, I strongly recommend that you take your time with these as there is no rush to complete these.
Always strive to get the highest Collectibility even if it means taking a bit more time, mainly because these can only be completed once.
In my opinion, these tend to be easier to complete than the Crafting adjacent quests as a player will be able to get the highest collectability with Gatherers even without stacked Gear, however, this does mean that a player needs a decent amount of GP and will want to use Hi-Cordials between nodes.
Players will receive the following quantities of White Gatherers’ Scrips when handing in 6 of the Highest Collectability resources and 6 of any other Collectability:
Level 80: 900 White Gatherers’ Scrips for the highest Collectability or 600 White Gatherers’ Scrips for any other Collectability
Level 83: 990 White Gatherers’ Scrips for the highest Collectability or 660 White Gatherers’ Scrips for any other Collectability
Level 85: 1,032 White Gatherers’ Scrips for the highest Collectability or 690 White Gatherers’ Scrips for any other Collectability
Level 88: 1,122 White Gatherers’ Scrips for the highest Collectability or 750 White Gatherers’ Scrips for any other Collectability
CUSTOM DELIVERIES (WEEKLY & EXTREMELY EFFICIENT)
By far the peak of efficiency when it comes to Gatherers’ Scips is Custom Deliveries. There are currently 10 NPCs players can complete Custom Deliveries for, though there are a few catches.
The first catch is that players will only be able to complete 12 Custom Deliveries a week. Second players can only 6 to a single NPC and finally Custom Delivery allowances are shared among Crafters and Gatherers so you will have to pick which you want to complete these turn-ins for each week.
I prioritize my Crafters before Gatherers for two reasons. The biggest penalty a player will face when they don’t have a geared-up Gatherer is that resources will take longer to farm and they will not have the stats to trigger boons, while a Crafter can ultimately fail a synthesis or can miss out on tools or skills to make a resource High Quality.
I think this mindset may change next expansion as 2 of my Retainers are Gatherers and being that I just went through the experience of resetting them and power levelling them to max, I think I will want to push them to the next cap as soon as possible.
The cool thing about Custom Deliveries is that NPCs have a chance to give bonus EXP, Gil and Seals once they have reached the maximum relationship with the player. This is random, but oftentimes a bonus will provide more of these resources than the most recent Custom Delivery NPC.
You can check which Custom Deliveries have a bonus that week by heading into the Timers Tab (Control+U) and clicking Custom Deliveries. This is how I decide on what Scrips I’m gathering that week unless there is something I am currently working towards.
This is why I wish I was more adamant about finishing old Custom Deliveries in previous expansions as taking advantage of the bonuses will set you forward by a significant amount of Scrips.
Players will need to note, if they are trying to get Gatherers’ White Scrips they can complete Custom Deliveries at any level. However, if a player wants the newest Gatherers’ Scrip they must complete these at the maximum level of the current expansion. Players will receive the same amount of White Scrips no matter what their level, they will just be getting the newest Scrips instead of EXP.
I would take my time with Custom Deliveries and try to turn them in with the highest Collectability each time, especially as they are limited to once a week and there is no timer on these nodes. Essentially use the same tips I gave you for the Studium Deliveries. The main difference is that players will have a second-highest tier for these which will yield a medium-sized reward.
LOCATIONS OF CUSTOM DELIVERIES
Level 60 – Zhloe Aliapoh in Idyllshire at X:4.6, Y:6.7
Level 60 – M’naago in Rhalgr’s Reach at X:14.6, Y:9.4
Level 62 – Kurenai in The Ruby Sea at X:28.3, Y:15.3, Z:-1.2
Level 66 – Adkiragh in Idyllshire (X:4.8, Y:6.6)
Level 70 – Kai-Shirr in Eulmore, The Canopy (X:12.2, Y:9.9)
Level 70 – Ehll Tou in The Firmament (X:13.5, Y:11.2)
Level 70 – Chalemend in The Firmament at X:8.9, Y:8.5
Level 80 – Ameliance in Old Sharlayan at X:15.6, Y:7.2
Level 80 – Anden in Il Mheg at X:17, Y:34
Level 80 – Margrat in Labyrinthos at X:20.4, Y:20.1
TIMED COLLECTABLE NODES
The only way to infinitely farm Gathering Scrips is to farm Timed Nodes which provide a few hundred Scrips per yield. Players do not need to unlock these by using Folklore and they are available in all expansions, however, the higher the node level the more Scrips you get.
Players will need to keep track of the uptime of the nodes they would like to farm and will have to play a similar mini-game as they do when completing Gatherer Custom Deliveries.
There is much less pressure to complete these though as up-times are very frequent and there is always a node available, so even if you manage to get your Collectable to the second tier, it’s still worth turning it in.
Though I use Hi-Cordial on these runs, a player doesn’t have to if they are running low on the resource. I personally still recommend it as Hi-Cordial only costs 20 of the lower-tier Scrip and players will always be able to purchase a few from completing a single node.
I strongly recommend that players take their time with these timed nodes and don’t complete a never-ending chain of them. This was the task that seriously burned me out and had me questioning if it was even worth getting everything I wanted.
In my opinion, the best use for this is speed farming the highest level Scrip Gear, but if you’re doing it for other rewards I’d say take your time and focus on the Custom Deliveries.
Players will be able to turn these Collectables in at Collectable Appraisers located in every major city, they are located here:
Limsa Lominsa (Aetheryte: Hawkers’ Alley)
Gridania (Aetheryte: Leatherworkers’ Guild)
Ul’dah (Aetheryte: Sapphire Avenue Exchange)
Mor Dhona (X:22.4, Y:6.7)
Idyllshire (X:5.7, Y:7.0)
Rhalgr’s Reach (X:9.8, Y:12.5)
Eulmore (X:11.6, Y:10.8)
Radz-at-Han (X:11.7, Y:9.8)
I STILL HAVE OLD SCRIPS, CAN I STILL USE THEM?
Similar to old Tomestones players will be able to turn in their discontinued Scrips for the current expansions’ lowest Scrip. So, when Dawntrail comes out players will be able to change their White Gatherers’ Scrips into Purple Gatherers’ Scrips.
This can be done at the Scrip Exchange in Mor Dhona (X:22.4 Y:6.7) and no other. I would strongly recommend that players do this during each expansion, however, you have the entire expansion to do this so if for whatever reason you are near the cap don’t feel rushed to exchange them immediately.
Fortunately, this is a 1:1 exchange rate so you will not be losing anything in the process. This is when I would recommend players do the majority of their Hi-Cordial buying for the expansion as chances are you’re going to have more than enough of the lower-tier Scrip unless you spent it on selling goods on the Marketboard, which is less likely for Gatherers’ Scrips.
CONCLUSION
In my opinion, the least daunting way of getting Gathering Scrips is going to be through Custom Deliveries. For the time spent, these provide players with the highest amount of Gathering Scrips though the trade-off would be not receiving Crafting Scrips which are more of a nuisance to get.
If you are trying to farm the highest-tier Scrips for Gear I strongly recommend simply doing nodes to complete this as not only will it be much faster for you to get the actual Scrips but there is no time sensitivity since there tends to always be a node up, but it will also take away the issue of missing out on more necessary Crafter Scrips as these are used much more frequently and in higher quantities than Gatherers’ Scrips, especially if you are planning on crafting foods for raids.
While yes the resources that can be purchased using Crafters Scrips can be purchased on the Marketboard, the ones that are in demand and those that a player will need for Relic Tools will cost the player a pretty penny.
I personally only start using Custom Deliveries on my Gatherers near the very end of an expansion as long as I’ve done everything I needed on my Crafters. Crafters should always take priority in my opinion unless you don’t see yourself crafting at all or you’ve already gotten Penta Melded Crafted Gear.

I just equip a goblin jig and fish at the unfrozen pond in western coerthas. Only catch icepicks at night, and also catch sorcerer fish and albino octopodes in the day. Icepicks and sorcerer fish are both collectible.
Johnny Salib / FlamingGaymer says
If you like fishing for Scrips, I would recommend the Fleeting Brand in Mare Lamentorum. It’s a pretty frequent catch and uses Versitile Lure and since you get a baseline of more Scrips for higher level fish it’s going to be more profitable than the ones in Coerthas. The ones in Coerthas are definitely pretty good :’) I just hate having too many specific lures/bait in my inventory which is why I went looking for other fish. Oh it’s also always up! There’s no time sensitivity.
