Traveler | Genshin Impact

Last Updated April 4, 2021 By Johnny Salib / FlamingGaymer Leave a Comment

The Traveler is going to be the first character that players have access to for free when playing Genshin Impact and will be the character who appears in all of the cutscenes that take place, even if they are not in the current active party.

Unlike all other characters, players will have the option of selecting whether or not their Traveler is male or female, though this has no effect on the character’s abilities, the reality is that choosing the sex of the character will simply be for the comfort of the player and dependant on which character the player prefers.

While all players have access to the Traveler, the reality is that players will want to switch out the Traveler as soon as they have a character that has either Geo or Anemo that is better.

The Traveler is unique in the sense that players will be able to rotate between the Geo element or Anemo element depending on which Statue of The Seven they visit. Due to the ability to rotate between elements, the Traveler sees quite a bit of use early on, especially when players are lacking in having certain elements.

As the Traveler can change between two different elements, players will have access to two different sets of abilities. Well, three sets if you consider the unaligned element as a move set, which only provides the Traveler with a basic attack and none of their abilities, though this is only for a short while.

ANEMO TALENTS

When the Traveler is aligned to Anemo the following will be your talents.

BASIC ATTACK

The Traveler has a few different variations to its basic attacks.

If players simply click on their auto-attack they will be able to attack up 5 times rapidly. This is called the “Normal Attack.”

If players hold down their auto-attack they will consume some Stamina and will unleash 2 rapid sword strikes at enemies. This is called the “Charged Attack.”

If players are mid-air they can use their auto-attack to strike from mid-air to the ground below, damagining all enemies in an AoE fashion.

ABILITY 1

The Traveler has the ability Palm Vortex as it’s first ability, which will deal continuous Anemo Damage to all opponents in front of them.

Upon the attack being completed it will explode dealing more Anemo Damage in an AoE fashion.

If players hold down their Palm Vortex it will deal more damage and will have a bigger AoE.

Players will be able to cause Elemental Absorption when the Vortex comes into contact with Hydro, Pyro, Cyro or Electro elements.

Elemental Absorption will add the element that Palm Vortex comes into contact with and can only be used once per use.

ABILITY 2

The Traveler has the ability Gust Surge as its second ability which when casted will cause a wind current to come forward and push objects towards it dealing Anemo Damage every 0.5 seconds up to 8 times.

If the Gust Surge comes into contact with Hydro, Pyro, Cryo or Electro it will deal 30.7% additional elemental damage of that type and can only be triggered once per use.

1ST ASCENSION PASSIVE

After the Traveler is upgraded to the 1st Ascension, players will gain their first passive which will cause the Normal Attack’s final hit to become a wind blade, dealing 60% of the attack as Anemo Damage to all enemies that are in it’s path.

4TH ASCENSION PASSIVE

After the Traveler is upgraded to the 4th Ascension, Palm Vortex will now regenerate 2% of the Traveler’s HP for 5 seconds when it kills an enemy. Players will only be able to activate this passive every 5 seconds.

GEO TALENTS

BASIC ATTACK

The Traveler has a few different variations to its basic attacks.

If players simply click on their auto-attack they will be able to attack up 5 times rapidly. This is called the “Normal Attack.”

If players hold down their auto-attack they will consume some Stamina and will unleash 2 rapid sword strikes at enemies. This is called the “Charged Attack.”

If players are mid-air they can use their auto-attack to strike from mid-air to the ground below, damagining all enemies in an AoE fashion.

ABILITY 1

The Traveler has the ability Starfell Sword as it’s first ability, which will cause a meteorite to appear from the depths of the earth dealing AoE Geo damage.

Players will be able to climb these meteorites or use them to block attacks as they are considered Geo Constructs.

If players hold down Starfell Sword they will be able to move the skill’s positioning.

ABILITY 2

The Traveler has the ability Wake of the Earth as its second ability which when casted will set off expanding shockwaves.

Shockwaves launch surrounding enemies back and will deal AoE Geo damage, making a stone wall at the edges of the shockwave.

Similar to the ability above, the walls will be considered a Geo Construct, allowing players to both climb them and block attacks with them.

1ST ASCENSION PASSIVE

After the Traveler is upgraded to the 1st Ascension, players will gain their first passive which will cause the Starfell Sword’s Cooldown to reduce by 2 seconds.

4TH ASCENSION PASSIVE

After the Traveler is upgraded to the 4th Ascension the final hit of the Traveler’s Normal attack combo will trigger a collapse and deal 60% extra attack as AoE Geo damage.
