At this point it’s truly no secret that I am a massive fan of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, playing nothing but it… well maybe also Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition just so I can have a bit of a break.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is truly a remarkable game somewhat throwing everything we knew about Kirby out the window and giving us a reimagining of the game.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land features a great deal of our favourite abilities and skills, though it truly one ups the previous Kirby games by also giving us new upgrades to empower older abilities and the opportunity to suck up large objects to take on their powers.
I can’t tell you how big of a smile was on my face the first day I started streaming the game on Twitch as I’m someone who has always loved the Kirby franchise, this game really went over my expectations. My only complaint so far is… it’s still so short, which seems to be the meta for Kirby games in general.
While the game is certainly shorter than other Nintendo games, the reality is that Kirby and the Forgotten Land is quite a bit longer than other Kirby games, being that there is the new mechanism of Missions. Now, while a good portion of Missions are straight forward and easy to complete, the reality is that many of them can be quite difficult and will require a player to keep repeating a level a few times in order to locate them or complete them due to their difficulty.
As I’m still on my journey to get this game 100% completed, I’m going to continue to share everything that I have found in the game and give some advice that I would have found helpful when doing my first 100% complete.
The following guide is about the Welcome to Wondaria level, which is the first of Wondaria. While quite straight forward, there were a couple of missions that had me repeating them a few times in order to get them done quickly. I also have to say, being someone who is an absolute theme park fanatic, this level warmed my heart because I got to ride a roller coaster in Kirby!
This guide will cover all the Missions available to players as well as where hidden Capsules are on the map:
Time Stamps:
0:00 Introduction
0:21 Enjoy the view from the top of the rocket
0:36 Help the lost ducklings find their mama
2:36 Waddle Dee #1
3:04 Capsule #1
3:51 Capsule #2
4:45 Waddle Dee #2
6:12 Capsule #3
6:34 Waddle Dee #3
7:20 Make all the wilted flowers bloom
10:32 Toy Hammer Blueprint
10:56 Waddle Dee #4
CLEAR STAGE
As is with all stages in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, players will receive 3 Waddle Dees upon completing the map. This is not affected by the amount of Missions a player completes or for the amount of time it takes to complete, so enjoy these Waddle Dees!
Players should always strive to collect extra Waddle Dees though as the more Waddle Dees a player has, the faster their progression in Waddle Dee Town will be. While not all buildings are important to a player in the town, many will provide players with upgrades that they can use in order to complete Missions more efficiently and thus get closer to 100%.
SAVE THE HIDDEN WADDLE DEES
WADDLE DEE #1
When players make it past the first area with mud they will be met with a location that has a bunch of machinery entering and exiting the park.
Players will have to weave between this machinery as there is no way to damage it (at this point.)
On the left-hand side of this area players will see a red/pink button with a Star in it. Activate this button and it will lead you to the first Waddle Dee!
The Waddle Dee is located on a platform to the right and players will have to race the clock in order to get it.
Players will have to time their journey with the movement of the vehicles as getting hit can essentially mean that the player loses the chance to get the Waddle Dee.
WADDLE DEE #2
In order to get the second Waddle Dee players are going to have to access the Roller Coaster.
To do so, players must begin their journey at the tower of Rocket Ships, which is located immediately after players rescue the first Waddle Dee.
After players climb the ladder they will have to head all the way to the right, which has a Blue Button with a star in it. Press this button to unlock the path to the Roller Coaster.
Now, once players are on the Roller Coaster they will have to tilt the coaster right or left in order to get rewards. Along the way there are a few Blue Buttons with stars in them. The first one is on the right and the second is on the left.
Players will have to hit both buttons in order to acquire the Waddle Dee.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to get this part right the first time. Players can ride the Roller Coaster indefinitely until they are able to secure the Waddle Dee, though players should note that any time they restart this part they will lose all the rewards they collected in the past run.
This will not reset any previous Missions though and is only associated with the Roller Coaster ride.
I strongly suggest that players focus on the buttons rather than the Star Coins as Star Coins are not difficult to come by. I would also suggest that players don’t panic if they get hit by spikes as there is a lot of food here to recover. *cough* if you watch my playthrough of this part I look like a scrub. I know.
WADDLE DEE #3
Near the middle-to-late portion of the map there are going to be spinning platforms with different tiers. Near one of the platforms (closer to the end of this part) there is a pillar that has a Blue Button with a star in it, players will have to press this button in order to make a Waddle Dee appear.
Players will be able to fly up from any tier of this platform and the Waddle Dee will appear on the planform to the right, leading a player to try to avoid taking damage from the Rockets.
WADDLE DEE #4
In the last section of the map players will have access to the Mouthful Mode that allows players to become a Water Balloon.
Players will have to suck up the water from a Pipe and will need to head to a fountain area that is covered with mud.
Clear all the mud from the fountain, allowing the water to flow freely again. Once all four spouts are cleaned players will reveal the final Waddle Dee.
HELP THE LOST DUCKLINGS FIND THEIR MAMA
Almost immediately when players come into the level (by the Rocket) players will have to complete their second Mission to find lost Ducklings.
While this quest was quite simple for me, noticing that the Duckling followed me immediately, some of the Ducklings have been known to be a bit difficult to find for players. The following are their locations:
On the right hand staircase
Behind the Billboard to the right
Behind the Popcorn Machine on the left hand side in the back of the area
On the left hand side of the stairs
In the center of the area on the shrubbery
After players have located all 5 of the Ducklings they can head to the mother Duck who is standing near the exit of this area.
She will reward you with some Star Coins.
ENJOY THE VIEW FROM THE TOP OF THE ROCKET
Upon entering the map players will be greeted with a Rocket Ship. As I didn’t know that this was a quest when I first played the level, I didn’t think to fly to the top of it… well… luckily you can repeat levels am I right?
Players will want to head to the left-hand side of the Rocket and will slowly want to fly to the top.
Unfortunately Kirby cannot fly much higher than the ground below, so you’re going to have to figure out a pathway that works best for you. Admittedly, it’s a bit tricky, but the video above shows you how I managed to do so.
It will take a second or so for the Mission to register, so if you’re standing on the top don’t sweat it too much, though if the Mission doesn’t register, try flying a bit higher and landing on the Rocket repeatedly.
MAKE ALL THE WILTED FLOWERS BLOOM
When players become the Water Balloon in the final area of the map they will soon be met with a number of Flower Pots with Wilted Flowers.
There is a total of 8 of these.
4 Flowers are located in the first section before players climb the ladder.
Don’t fret and feel free to spit out your water as there is another pipe that you can get this ability from shortly after.
The next four feel a bit more difficult to obtain as they are not in clear sight.
Players will have to go to the left of the spinning Rockets as soon as they climb the ladder in order to get another Mouth filled with water. Players will be able to destroy these Rockets with the water and will need to jump up the platforms ahead of the.
There are three Flowers directly ahead of them and then players will have to spray the platform to the right to make it fall. Once it has fallen, players will have to head there to spray the last Flower that is hidden in an alcove.
CAPSULE LOCATIONS
CAPSULE #1
After players have located the first Waddle Dee they must slide to the right of the platform. Here there is a sparkly orb that a player must interact with in order to force the Capsule to dissapear.
If players are not standing close enough to the sparkly orb it will not appear, thus causing players to leave the Capsule behind in many situations.
CAPSULE #2
While players are riding the roller coaster (which is unlocked by pressing the blue button with the star on it where the tower of rocket ships is) players will have to pay close attention.
Sadly this part of the game goes by very quickly causing players to miss rewards fairly easily.
The capsule appears after players press the first button on the roller coaster. The button is on the right hand side and the Capsule is in the center almost immediately after.
CAPSULE #3
In the mid-to-late portion of the map players will be met with a number of turning platforms. These platforms are tiered and some have hidden elements to them.
Closer to the end of this section there is a turning platform that is near a pillar with a hole in it. Wait for the pillar to align with the platform correctly, essentially when the lowest tier meets the pillar. Jump inside this hole and you’ve got yourself a Capsule!
TOY HAMMER BLUEPRINT
After players have resuscitated all of the wilting Flowers they will be met with the Blueprint for the Toy Hammer. While this isn’t the best upgrade, in my opinion, it does deal a bit more damage before players receive the third upgrade which is quite a hefty Weapon to use.
