Should I Upgrade Critical Chance/Critical Damage | Gold and Goblins?

Last Updated July 31, 2022 By Johnny Salib / FlamingGaymer Leave a Comment

When it comes to playing Gold and Goblins it can be difficult to decide what Cards you want to power up as there’s going to be a finite amount of resources for players to collect and utilize unless players are spending a good amount of money on the game.

Admittedly I’m a F2P player as I like to be able to give tips that any player can utilize and thus I got pretty precious about what cards I actually upgrade, especially when it comes to the Event Challenges.

As I’m not to the point where I feel comfortable giving exact tips on which Cards you absolutely need to avoid and which you have to upgrade, I am comfortable covering the topic of Critical Chance/Critical Damage.

I was really shocked when I saw the potential to use Critical Damage and Critical Chance in the Event challenge of Gold and Goblins and at first, I was going to completely ignore it, but I have to say this was a big mistake.

While I’m still trying to figure out the perfect balance of money-making and levelling up my Goblins, I feel like I’m finally starting to understand what I can do to help make everything a bit smoother.

Now, with no questions asked I am so happy to let you know that Critical Damage and Critical Chance is pretty powerful in Gold and Goblins. Now, that being said, they aren’t the most important stat to work up and it’s going to be better to simply have a higher-levelled Goblin.

Admittedly, it is hard to tell how much help Critical Damage and Critical Chance is providing the player as this stat is actually implemented into the time and while there is a bit of an element of RNG, dueto the fact that the Devs have not created an animation for Critical Damage or Critical Chance they have stated that this stat just “averages out” in the timer instead.

According to player reports an upgrade in Critical Damage or Critical Chance can improve the speed of all Goblins by 17-33%, being a substantial step up, especially if players are unable to get Goblins that are high enough in level for tougher resources and structures.

Though players can wait until they have enough Goblins to merge to be able to deal enough damage, this is not always a possibility, especially when players are on a timed Event that they must complete. This is usually when the Critical Chance/Critical Damage really shines as you can help improve your probabilities of clearing in time without having as many Goblins as you would usually need.

Now, even with Critical Chance or Critical Damage, you’re going to want to make sure you merge your Goblins as often as you can as doing so will make sure you are getting your maximum DPS for the stage.

In my opinion, it’s better to get Critical Chance or Critical Damage versus spawning in lower-tier Goblins as it will help maximize the amount of damage you do without needing to wait for more Coins to spawn in more Goblins. I personally keep getting locked into instances where my Goblins are too pricy and spawning in a new one that’s 4-5 levels lower than my highest one doesn’t feel worth it, so I use the Coins I get to power up my Mines so I get more Elixer.

But I’m curious, what are your thoughts on Critical Chance or Critical Damage? Do you like them? Do you think that they’re worthless? Let me know in the comments below!
