The Stygian Blade, or Stygius is by far my favourite Weapon to use in my escape attempts in Hades.
While admittedly I’m usually a ranged player in most games that I play, the Stygian Blade is just so powerful that a player can essentially tank and spank quite a bit and still get away with a good amount of Health.
The Stygian Blade has four attacks at it’s base, being a Strike, Combo, Dash-Strike and Nova Smash which are outlined on my Infernal Weapon’s Guide, though in this post I’m going to be focusing on more of the technical Aspects of the Stygian Blade, so players are aware of the hidden Aspects for each other the upgrades in order to make a good decision of which ones they upgrade and which one they will want to use or avoid depending on how much Titan’s Blood they have.
As is with most things in Hades, such as the Mirror of Night, it’s going to be a good idea to upgrade all of your Aspects so you can freely rotate between them all, however, this isn’t always a possibility, especially for players who are struggling to collect enough resources.
As for the upgrades provided by the Daedalus Hammer, you can read more here.
The following guide will take you through everything you need to know in particular to the Aspects of the Stygian Blade so you can make an educated decision of whether to upgrade certain Aspects or avoid them completely.
A BIT ABOUT ASPECTS
There are a total of 4 Aspects for the Stygian Blade being Zagreus, Nemesis, Poseidon, and Arthur.
Each Aspect requires players to spend Titan Blood to power them up, however, players will not need to upgrade them all in order to move on to the next.
Essentially, players can be picky right from the get go and choose which Aspect they prefer and level that one up as if players want to unlock and upgrade all the Aspects of the Stygian Blade they will need to fork over 51 Titan Blood.
Each Aspect of the Stygian Blade will change the look of it and will add to the functionality of the Weapon. It should be noted that all the Aspects simply add to the base of the Stygian Sword, other than the Aspect of Arthur which will completely change the way that the Stygian Blade functions.
ASPECT OF ZAGREUS
The Aspect of Zagreus is a great Aspect to power up if players are new to the game as it is cheap to upgrade and will provide a player with a good amount of extra damage and movement speed.
I strongly recommend focusing on the Aspect of Zagreus for players who are unable to farm Titan Blood in massive amounts, especially due to how cheap it is and the benefits it provides players.
Admittedly, players will want to swap off the Aspect of Zagreus in the late-game as it’s effects will not be amazing.
The following is all the information you need to know about the upgrades for the Aspect of Zagreus:

ASPECT OF NEMESIS
The Aspect of Nemesis is a pretty good Aspect to run especially if players are running Artemis Boons that raises a players’ Critical Chance.
Essentially, Critical Chance is really tough to get off, especially due to the fact that players usually have a 2% chance to cause a Critical Hit in many cases, so using Aspect of Nemesis alongside this can really help a player.
Essentially for 3 seconds after a player deals damage using their Special or their Attack they have an increase in Critical Chance.
The following is all the information you need to know about the upgrades for the Aspect of Nemesis:

ASPECT OF POSEIDON
I’ll be honest, I am not a huge fan of the Aspect of Poseidon, while it can be really helpful for players who rely on their Cast.
Admittedly, depending on what Boons you’re running the Aspect of Poseidon can be very useful, especially if players have Boons that will deal extra damage when Casts are dislodged from enemies. Essentially, with Aspect of Poseidon, players can use their Special in order to dislodge a Cast, meaning that a player can continuously use their Cast to deal more damage.
Not only that, but players will also deal more damage when using their Cast.
I strongly recommend focusing on powering up your Casts if you choose to run the Aspect of Poseidon as this will greatly impact the amount of damage you deal. This damage can be greatly extended if players also have a Status Curse on their Cast that they can keep applying.
The following is all the information you need to know about the upgrades for the Aspect of Poseidon:

TIER 5 ASPECT OF POSEIDON
Titan Blood Cost: 5 Titan Blood

ASPECT OF ARTHUR
The Aspect of Arthur is going to be the best Aspect they can provide the Stygian Blade as not only will it change the move set for the player, but it will also deal the most damage out of all of the other upgrades available.
Unfortunately, players will not be able to unlock the Aspect of Arthur right away and will actually need to follow a few steps first in order to be able to use this powerful Aspect.
HOW TO UNLOCK THE ASPECT OF ARTHUR
The following are the requirements to unlock the Aspect of Arthur:
First players must reveal the Aspect of Guan Yu, but will not need to use any Titan Blood to do so, simply having it unlocked is enough.
Next players will have to have invested at least 5 Titan’s Blood into the Stygian Blade, not requiring any particular upgrades, making the first Aspect great for this due to it’s impact and cost.
Players will now have to talk to Nyx until she speaks the line “I see your kingly pardon from a prison of stone.” After this line is spoken the next time a player picks up the Stygian Blade and tries to enhance it they will reveal the Aspect of Arthur.
ASPECT OF ARTHUR PASSIVE
The Aspect of Arthur will provide players with 50 extra life total whenever it is available to them.
WHATS THE MOVESET OF THE ASPECT OF ARTHUR?
As mentioned, the Aspect of Arthur is the only Aspect that changes a player’s move set for the Stygian Blade. This is admittedly for the better as the following move set is much more powerful:
HEAVY SLASH
Heavy Slash is a player’s basic Attack and will deal 60 damage any time a player attacks.
It is strongly recommended that a player attacks rapidly in order to cause a Combo to take place as the Combo is the best way to deal damage.
COMBO
Similar to most other Combos, a player will have to attack 3 times in a row, each time dealing more damage. Unlike many other combos, players will be able to dash in between their attacks and still successfully trigger their Combo.
As for the damage of the combo, players will deal 60 damage on their first strike, 80 damage on their second strike and 200 damage on their final blow.
Admittedly, even from this base damage, players will be dealing a lot of extra damage. Players will want to enhance their attack damage as much as possible to push this damage even further.
DASH-STRIKE
The Dash-Strike is the Weakest form of damage players can deal and will want to be avoided at all costs.
Essentially if a player Dash-Strikes they will only deal 50 damage, however, if a player begins their combo standing still, dashing in between they will be able to deal more damage per hit.
HALLOWED GROUND
Hallowed Ground is the most predominant Aspect to the Aspect of Arthur as it will provide players with a good amount of defense.
Essentially Hallowed Ground can be used every 8 seconds when a player uses their Special. If players try to use their Special again while Hallowed Ground is already active, it will simply be a Nova Smash.
With Hallowed Ground placed, players will spawn in an aura that gives players damage reduction, it will disable all traps and will lower the speed of all projectiles.
While Hallowed Ground cannot Backstab or Knockback, it will deal 70 damage upon the first hit.
I would strongly recommend always using it when it’s available.
NOVA SMASH
Nova Smash, as mentioned, is a player’s Special when Hallowed Ground is active. Similar to Hallowed Ground it will deal 70 damage and will not be able to Backstab or Knockback.
The following is all the information you need to know about the upgrades for the Aspect of Arthur:
