Within minutes of downloading Whiteout Survival, it was apparent that the game was filled with a variety of events that provided exclusive resources to either unlock Heroes or resources that would be used to level said Heroes.
When I joined the game I was placed in a seemingly new State as there weren’t many players and the calendar didn’t have many events on it yet. It wasn’t long until the Gina’s Revenge event peeked its head around the corner and I was doing all I could to figure out how to maximize my efforts.
Since I don’t typically look up guides when I start a new game, as I prefer to make my own mistakes to help inform my guides; it wasn’t until the second time the event came around that I understood how to make the most out of the event. The mistakes I made had to do with my panic that the event would be infrequent, but I’m happy to share everything I have learned to get you to max out your Gina as soon as possible.
Before I begin, I want to say that there is no rush to maxing Gina out immediately. I’ll cover what Gina is useful for throughout the article, but it’s going to take you a good number of resources to get the perks you want from her. Even if you get her to 5-stars in the first event, Gina is not going to be very useful until you get enough Epic Expedition Skill Manuals.
WHAT IS THE GINA’S REVENGE EVENT?
The Gina’s Revenge Event is a PVE event that requires players to kill Beasts of any level for the chance to receive a Horn of the Cryptid and/or Hunter’s Pouch.
Players will be able to farm Beasts indefinitely for either of these resources as there is no limit to the drop, however the drop chance for each resource is random. Each resources’ drop chance is independent, meaning a player can receive both, one or neither; though the chance to get neither is extremely rare.
Players should note that both resources can be held onto after the event has concluded.
HOW TO TELL WHEN GINA’S REVENGE IS COMING BACK TO WHITEOUT SURVIVAL
Whenever a player logs into Whiteout Survival they will want to start their day by looking at the Events Tab, symbolized by the Clipboard in the top right of their screen. Upon clicking the Clipboard players will want to navigate to the “Calandar” which is the leftmost tab.
Players will only be able to see what events are taking place this week and if they click on the banner they will see the exact length of the event and a small description of what is required in the event.
HOW LONG IS THE GINA’S REVENGE EVENT
Gina’s Revenge always lasts for 3-day.
HOW OFTEN DOES GINA’S REVENGE RETURN?
Gina’s Revenge returns every week or every other week during the first season of the game. After a server reaches the second season, also refered to as Generation 2, the event will no longer be available.
Players have reported seeing the Gina’s Revenge Event about 8–9 times before it completely disappeared though this varies from server to server.
There is no ideal way to check how old your server is, though you can somewhat track it from the Monument missions and how many days you’ve been logged in.
WHAT IS THE HORN OF THE CRYPTID?
The Horn of the Cryptid is a resource that spawns a special mob called the Berserk Cryptid. When a Berserk Cryptid has spawned, only the player who spawned it or members of their alliance can call a rally against it. Consuming the Horn of the Cryptid will not consume any Stamina, however, like all other rallies in Whiteout Survival, calling a rally will cost the player 25 Stamina.
If a player does not have enough Stamina to rally against the Berserk Cryptid they spawn, they can click on it and post its location using the Share Symbol. Players will want to put the co-ordinates in their Alliance Chat, however, I will share the pros and cons of this shortly.
Much like all other mobs in Whiteout Survival, players will need to kill it before it disappears, with the timer appearing when the player has selected the mob.
WHAT IS A HUNTER POUCH?
The Hunter Pouch is essentially a loot box with the chance to provide various resources, including:
A 15% Chance to receive 1 Chief Stamina (provides 10 Stamina once consumed and can be hoarded)
A 20% Chance to receive 100 Gems
A 50% Chance to receive 10–30 Gems
A guaranteed 5–10 minutes General Speed Up
A guaranteed 1,000 Hero XP
Realistically, these rewards are nothing to write home about, but you can get pretty lucky and walk out with a few thousand Gems per day; being a pivotal resource to the game. That being said, having extra Chief Stamina proves very pivotal in the late game since players will need to Rally Polar Terrors frequently in order to upgrade their Chief’s Gear.
HOW MANY GINA SHARDS TO GET PER BERSERK CRYPTID?
The number of Gina Shards you get directly correlates to whether or not you called the Rally against the Berserk Cryptid. If players call the rally against a Berserk Cryptid, they will be guaranteed at least 2 Gina Shards, though they can get up to 4 Shards.
Alternatively, if a player joins another player’s rally, they are not guaranteed any Gina Shards but can obtain a maximum of 1 Gina Shard.
HOW MANY GINA SHARDS DO YOU NEED TO MAX HER OUT?
Players will need a total of 1,075 Gina Shards to max her out. Meaning if players get 4 Shards in every rally they call they will only need 269 Rallies, however, if players are unlucky and only get 2 Shards per rally they will need 538 Rallies.
This does not include joining other player’s rallies or the bonus Shards you get each time the event comes back.
TIPS/ADVICE FOR GINA’S REVENGE
- Each time the Gina’s Revenge Event appears, players can redeem 10 Gina Shards for calling 10 Rallies.
- I strongly recommend completing this as soon as possible so you don’t miss it, and then halt all rallies to focus on farming extra Horns of the Cryptid.
- The 10 Shards can be claimed from the Gina’s Revenge Event Page while the event is still active. If it goes unclaimed before the end of the event you will miss out.
- Always complete your Intel when it is available, since the rewards are significant. A good portion of your Intel should be to slay beasts anyway, so you will be able to get Horns of the Cryptid by doing two things at once.
- It’s a common beginner mistake to prioritize only high tier Intel or Beast Intel during the event to save on Stamina, but as you are almost always guaranteed 1-3 Hero Shards from intel, this is a bullet in the foot.
- To quickly max out Gina, use your extra Chief Stamina to hunt as many Beasts as possible before the event ends.
- I only do this when there is another event that requires Beast kills, such as the Alliance Mobilization Event.
- If you have an alt account, hoard as many Horns of the Cryptid as possible and have your main call the Rallies as you see fit.
WHAT DO I GET FOR EXCHANGING HORNS OF THE CRYPTID AFTER GINA IS MAXED?
During the Gina’s Revenge Event, players will have the option to exchange extra Horns of the Cryptid once they have gotten Gina to 5-stars. I can’t recommend doing this as you will receive Hunters Pouches in exchange for said Horns of the Cryptid.
Although players can get some decent resources from Hunter Pouches, I highly recommend using the Horns to spawn in extra Cryptids for more Gina Shards.
I’ll explain why shortly, but the Hunter Pouches are not worth the exchange in my opinion.
CAN YOU UNLOCK GINA IF YOU JOINED A SERVER THAT NO LONGER HAS THE GINA’S REVENGE EVENT?
On May 26, 2024; there was an update to Whiteout Survival that allowed players to get Heroes from the Hero Hall once they were no longer in rotation.
At this time, that is the only way players can unlock Gina after Gina’s Revenge is no longer available. Upon unlocking Gina by using 10 Gina Shards, players can continue upgrading her with Epic General Hero Shards.
WHAT DO YOU DO WITH EXCESS GINA SHARDS?
Once a month, players will have access to the Tundra Trading Station. Here, players can trade excess resources that they no longer need for Trade Vouchers. This is true for all unused Hero Shards as well as unused Manual, though I’ll write an extensive guide on the Tundra Trading Station in the future.
Players can use Trade Vouchers to purchase:
- Custom Hero Widget Chests (available for current and previous seasons)
- Essence Stone
- Mythic General Hero Shards
- Mythic Expedition Manuals
- Mythic Exploration Manuals
- 100 Enhancement XP Component for Hero Gear
- Level 2 Custom Resource Chests (which allow you to choose what resource you would like to receive)
Although you can trade in Gina Shards before you have maxed her out in the Tundra Trading Station, I wouldn’t recommend this.
IS GINA A GOOD HERO IN WHITEOUT SURVIVAL?
Gina is an above-average Hero in Whiteout Survival, but mostly due to her utility and not her damage.
Gina’s best use is her ability to reduce the amount of Stamina consumed by up to 20%. This means attacks against Beasts will only cost 8 Stamina instead of 10 and rallies will cost 20 Stamina instead of 25. This does not work for Expedition Intel or Rescuing Survivors Intel.
Players will want to upgrade the Expedition Skill “Endurance Training” by using Epic Expedition Manuals, but your choice to do so will depend on what you need on your account at that moment.
The following are the number of Expedition Manuals you need to upgrade Endurance Training and what you get from it:
Endurance Training Level 1
Gina does not need any upgrades and immediately has Endurance Training Level 1.
Stamina Cost Down: 10%
- Beasts cost 10 Stamina
- Rallies cost 23 Stamina
Endurance Training Level 2
Gina needs to be 1-star to unlock Endurance Training Level 2.
Cost: 10 Epic Expedition Manuals
Stamina Cost Down: 12%
- Beasts cost 10 Stamina
- Rallies cost 22 Stamina
Endurance Training Level 3
Gina needs to be 2-star to unlock Endurance Training Level 3.
Cost: 30 Epic Expedition Manuals
Stamina Cost Down: 15%
- Beasts cost 9 Stamina
- Rallies cost 22 Stamina
Endurance Training Level 4
Gina needs to be 3-star to unlock Endurance Training Level 4.
Cost: 50 Epic Expedition Manuals
Stamina Cost Down: 18%
- Beasts cost 9 Stamina
- Rallies cost 21 Stamina
Endurance Training Level 5
Gina needs to be 4-star to unlock Endurance Training Level 5.
Cost: 75 Epic Expedition Manuals
Stamina Cost Down: 20%
- Beasts cost 8 Stamina
- Rallies cost 20 Stamina
I do not recommend rushing to upgrade Endurance Training since other Heros have more beneficial Expedition Skills. As you can also see, upgrading Endurance Training is only really significant when players cap it at level 5.
On my main account I upgraded Endurance Training to Level 3 as soon as possible and then left it to focus on other Hero’s Expedition Skills, however, on my alt I capped it at level 5 as soon as possible since my alt is in my alliance and I use it to call extra rallies. I’ll write a guide on alt accounts and what the different forms of utility they can have since it’s not always the best option to have your alt in your alliance.
Gina’s alternative Expedition upgrade is called “Quick Paced” which can reduce Wilderness march speed up to 100% and while this is great for completing tasks such as constructing Alliance Banners or getting to resources faster to gather it has much less utility than Endurance Training or other Epic Hero’s Expedition Skills. I personally would ignore this until the lategame. The only time this will be useful for players in the early game is if they are regularly in Foundry Battles or other large scale events, though you would still want to upgrade other Heroes’ Expedition Skills first.
As for Gina’s Damage, due to her lack of Team Support she tends to be quite greedy with damage, making her only useful in the early game because you can get so many of her shards quickly. As the generations pass, Gina will be quickly exchanged.
