I have to admit that there are quite a few levels in Kirby and the Forgotten Land that provided me a challenge.
Although I have been a Kirby fan for many years, playing the greater majority of Kirby games that I could get my hands on, I have to say that Kirby and the Forgotten Land has quickly become my favourite in my franchise.
By this point in the game, I’m sure you’re very aware of just how many changes have been made in the franchise, such as adding new abilities, upgrades and even the newest staple to the game, Mouthful Mode.
One of the other additions to the game, which for me was my favourite, was the addition of Missions. As someone who is a completionist and doesn’t feel ready to put down a game until he sees the 100% on his save file, having the ability to see what it is I’m working towards made me very happy.
I first discovered the Missions in the demo of Kirby and the Forgotten Land while on Twitch and you can ask anyone in my community about how excited I got!
While I may be someone who wants to 100% most, if-not-all games I play, I recognize that not every player wants to do this, so I thought I’d share how I 100% completed the game so you can make your decision of what maps you actually want to complete and which you don’t.
The following is guide for the Windy, Freezing Seas, including how to complete the Missions, where to locate the Capsules and where to find a secret Blueprint!
CLEAR STAGE
As is with all other stages in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, players will receive 3 Waddle Dees simply for completing the map.
I do have to say, this is one of the stages where players may want to skip some Waddle Dees because they’re tricky, though after repeating a couple times players should be able to secure all the Waddle Dees with no problem.
SAVE THE HIDDEN WADDLE DEES
WADDLE DEE #1
Within the first minute or so in the level players are going to need to locate the first Waddle Dee.
After players pass the Cannon on the windy roofs, they will have to head downwards on their map to reveal an area with a Pipe to obtain Pipe Mouth.
Use the Pipe Mouth to jump and destroy a wall at the end of this area.
If you are moving towards the “bull” you have gone too far, though it is just south of the “bull.”
WADDLE DEE #2
The second Waddle Dee is found shortly after players obtain the Ring Mouth Mouthful Mode and will require players to sail on the boat as far as they can.
As soon as players see a dock, they must jump onto the dock and make their way up the ramp to locate a Windmill.
Blow this Windmill to unlock the area where the second Waddle Dee is locate.
WADDLE DEE #3
The third Waddle Dee is a bit sneaky and is located immediately after players unmount the boat for the second time.
Players will see a tall yellow ladder and a Warp Star in this area, do not take the warp star.
Instead absorb one of the fire mobs if you do not already have Fire and head back down the ladder.
The Waddle Dee is located in an alcove to the right of the ladder hidden behind ice blocks.
Players will have to melt the ice blocks in order to reveal the Waddle Dee, so make sure that you don’t kill both Fire mobs or this will make it inaccessible.
WADDLE DEE #4
Waddle Dee #4 will require players to have some good response time as after players take the Warp Star they will be in an area with lots of wind.
Make sure you stay fairly close to the left side during this part as players will need to head to a Lantern in order to unlock the area where the Waddle Dee is.
Upon igniting the Lantern, some Star Coins will appear to guide the way for players.
The Waddle Dee is located in a hole, just a bit ahead to the right.
WADDLE DEE #5
After players find the Dragonfire Blueprint and reveal the Hidden Tunnel they will end up in the area where the 5th Waddle Dee is.
Though I will cover this again later, the entrance is revealed by heading to the left of the final portion of the Windy walk way.
Players will need to melt the Ice Cubes to head into this area and then will have to solve Cannon Puzzle to get the Waddle Dee.
In here, players will have a Scissor-Lift and will have to ensure that they avoid taking damage from the Goro, but the whole thing is very simple as long as you do not cut the fuse with your Scissor-Lift
Taking the Cannon will take you to the next area with the Waddle Dee and then players must use another Scissor-Lift to unlock the room they are in with the Blue Button with a Star in it on the ceiling.
FIND A CAVE THAT’S SAFE FROM THE WIND
Right at the beginning of the map where players have saved the first Waddle Dee they will be offered the Needle ability.
I had a feeling that this meant something, but in my first run I had no idea what it was for.
Players will need to use the Needle Ability to move to the left of the screen as there is a windy pathway here.
Unfortunately players will not be able to beat the wind in any other way, so make sure you get this ability, though you will not need it for the rest of the run.
ENJOY 3 MEALS AT SEA
As I’ve stated in previous posts, one of my favourite types of quests are the ones that require you to collect food as I’m a player who will always say yes to food, even if I have full health.
They enjoy 3 Meals at Sea is honestly quite an enjoyable task as it gives a reason for players to spend some extra time using Ring Mouth on the boat.
The following are the locations of all three meals.
MEAL #1
Shortly after players get access to the Ring Mouth Mouthful Mode players will have to sail to the left of the screen to break through an Iceberg.
Before players break this Iceberg, there is a meal! Grab it and continue on your journey.
MEAL #2
As players head to the right hand side just after they shatter the Iceberg, they will pass a bomb seal and they can grab the second meal in the top right corner before they turn.
MEAL #3
After players grab the second Waddle Dee they will see a Meal right outside of the gate the Waddle Dee was hidden in it. Enjoy this meal because chances are you may have taken damage recently!
JUMP INTO THE SECRET UNDERGROUND ROOM
After players locate the Dragonfire Blueprint they will need to continue down the windy path, but players must ensure that they don’t get blown away too quickly.
To the left of them players will locate a four ice blocks with a red light above them.
Melt these ice blocks and take the ladder up to reveal a lantern you must ignite.
Then you must keep going down the path, following the coins that have appeared to locate a hidden underground room to the left.
Players will have to be pretty quick about this, but if they hover there should be no problem.
CAPSULE LOCATIONS
CAPSULE #1
When players are about to leave the first area. Players will need to make sure that they don’t go through the door with the three stars on it and will need to head to the bottom right corner of the screen to destroy a bomb box that will reveal a path they can take to the Capsule.
CAPSULE #2
When players have crossed the water using the Ring Mouth, Mouthful Mode they will need to head to the bottom right of this platform to see a sparkle that will initiate a path to take to get to the second Capsule.
Players will need to be close enough to the corner in order to see it.
CAPSULE #3
The final Capsule can be retrieved right before players complete the level as it is hidden on the left hand side of where the Waddle Dees are. Players will want to make sure they take a bit of a pause before they complete the map, and trust me I almost missed it!
DRAGONFIRE BLUEPRINT
After players locate the fourth Waddle Dee they will have the opportunity to find the Dragonfire Blueprint, though it is a bit tricky to get.
Players will have to try to beat the wind to get to the left hand side of the map before they pass the track for the lift.
Essentially the lift is going to be frozen and players will have to use Fire on it in order to defrost it. Once defrosted players can use Mouthful Mode on the lift to take it to the other side.
Here players will be able to jump onto a platform that has the Dragonfire Blueprint.
