Interested in being a nuisance or want to disrupt games of ARAM? Look no further than your neighbourhood troll: Singed.
While Singed classifies as a tank, Singed can cause a high amount of damage, especially if enemy champions dumb and try to chase singed players.
Singed’s Q, Poison Trail, will leave a cloud of poison behind him for 3.25-seconds, causing enemy champions who chase closely behind him to take magic damage every 0.25 seconds.
Poison Trail (Q) is the main way Singed players can deal damage to enemy champions.
Players can slow down enemy champions using Mega Adhesive (W), which will also ground all enemy champions, allowing Singed players to run in and flip them with Fling (E) which both deals damage and drops the enemy behind singed after one second.
If enemies get flung into Mega Adhesive (W) they will become temporarily rooted. So, while players may want to simply use Mega Adhesive to slow down enemy champions, it’s still a good idea to keep an eye open to see if there are any enemies to flip into the adhesive.
Once Singed gets to level 6, he will have access to his Insanity Potion (R), which empowered Singed, giving him bonus ability power, amour, magic resistance, movement speed, health regen and mana regen for 25 seconds.
Singed players will notice quickly that Singed plays “passively” and although his main purpose is to soak up damage as a tank, if enemies continue to choose to stay near him they will take an unsuspected amount of damage.
Singed players can use Singed’s speed to run in and out of sticky situations and one of my favourite things to do with Singed is to flip enemy champions under an allied turret or remove them from under their turret.

COMBOS: The main combo players should be aware of when playing Singed is that when you Fling (E) enemy champions into Singed’s Mega Adhesive (W), you will successfully stun the enemy champion, versus just slowing and grounding them.
SUMMONER SPELLS FOR SINGED IN ARAM
FLASH
Singed is a fairly typical tank who will need to have Flash on his kit to save him from really tough or sticky situations
Due to SInged’s short-range, players should not expect themselves to Flash into team fights or parallel situations as Singed will not be able to do much.
Depending on which way enemy players are running and whether players have access to Singed’s Insanity Potion (R), Singed players may try to Flash ahead of enemy champions, damaging them as they try heading to their base.
The only issue with Flashing ahead of enemy champions is the fact that it raises the risk of you running under an enemy turret or getting crowd controlled and jumped on by enemy champions.
Be wise when you choose to Flash with Singed and although tempting, I would recommend saving your Flash and not using it to get ahead of enemy champions.
SNOWBALL
Instead of using Flash to get into battle, players should focus on using a Snowball, which can effectively be used to teleport players directly onto enemy champions.
Snowball can be used extremely effectively with Singed players, allowing them to place the Mega Adhesive (W), Snowball in and help solidify a takedown by using Fling (E) to root enemy champions on the adhesive.
Players can also use Snowball to get close to enemy champions, hit their Insanity Potion (R) and then run around enemy champions until they are poisoned to death.
RUNE TREES FOR SINGED IN ARAM
There are two main schools of thought when it comes to playing Singed:
Building Singed’s runes as tanky like Garen, Dr. Mundo, Amumu or tanky Soraka.
Building his runes as healing from damage.
I personally prefer to build Singed as tanky as unfortunately, players will not be able to gauge whether or not they will be able to do much damage with Singed until they are in-game.
Singed being as short-ranged as he is, struggles with a lot of ARAM match-ups simply because he is burst down before players get a chance to wreak havoc. In my opinion, I would rather be safe and build chunky so I can continue to troll for my team, however, the following is the full breakdown of runes to use on Singed.
TANK RUNES FOR SINGED (RESOLVE/PRECISION)
GRASP OF THE UNDYING
Upon entering combat, players will generate one stack of Grasp of the Undying for the next 3 seconds. Players can then proceed to gain additional stacks by re-entering combat after 2 seconds.
Once players receive 4 stacks of Grasp of the Undying they will have 6 seconds to damage an enemy champion to consume stacks and deal 4% of the player’s maximum health in magic damage.
Players will also restore 2% of their maximum health and will also receive 5 bonus maximum health.
Players can refresh their empowered attack each time they reenter combat.
It’s no secret why Grasp of the Undying is considered essential for all Singed players, especially for players who expect to play extra aggressive with him.
DEMOLISH
Every 45 seconds players will be able to generate 6 stacks against an enemy turret when they are within 600 units. It will take a minimum of 3 seconds for players to generate all 6 stacks, however, upon the player’s next basic attack the player will deal 100 (+35% max health) bonus physical damage.
If a player fails to successfully use Demolish it will not go on cooldown.
Demolish is great for champions like Singed because he really doesn’t do much damage. If Singed is left alone to attack an enemy turret, chances are he isn’t going to be able to do very much.
The only downside to taking Demolish is that it doesn’t do anything when you’re done defeating enemy turrets. Though, in my experience having Demolish leads to an early push that can potentially end the game before the other team has a chance to properly build.
If players do not want to take Demolish they can take Shield Bash.
CONDITIONING
After 8 minutes players will gain 9 bonus armour and 9 bonus magic resistance and increase their total armour and magic resistance by 5%.
Even if players plan to be aggressive with Singed, it’s a good idea to have as much magic resistance and armour as it will help sustain your health pool.
Players can also choose to take Second Wind as it provides them with some healing after being attacked by enemy champions, though the choice will be made based on your preferences.
I used Second Wind early on when I was learning Singed but quickly switched onto using Conditioning when I was able to control the amount of damage I took.
OVERGROWTH
Players receive 5 bonus health for every 8 minions that die near them, After gaining 15 stacks (80 minions) players will receive an additional 3.5% maximum health.
Do I need to explain how overpowered that is? No? Thank you.
RECOMMENDED SECONDARY RUNES (PRECISION)
TRIUMPH
Players will receive 6% of missing health as well as 10 Gold every time they participate in a champion takedown. Players will experience a 1-second delay before they get their health from securing a takedown.
Triumph is extremely powerful with Singed players, especially when players are part of multiple takedowns.
LEGEND: TENACITY
Players gain 5% +2.5% per Legend stack (max 10) tenacity up to 30% tenacity.
Tenacity is another one of those defensive stats players are going to want to have on Singed, just to ensure that they are mitigating as much damage as they can in team battles and general happenings.
ALTERNATIVE PRIMARY RUNES (PRECISION)
If you’re an aggressive Singed player, you may be interested in taking runes that are in the precision tree as they will help you deal more damage while healing.
CONQUEROR
Melee Basic Attacks will grant 2 stacks on-hit. Each stack will deal between 2-5 (based on level) AP stacking up to a maximum of 10 stacks dealing a maximum of 20-50 (based on level) AP when fully charged.
Melee Champions will heal for 15% of their damage when Conqueror is fully charged.
I’ll be honest… I rarely proc Conqueror while playing Singed and prefer focussing on his damage over time.
Damage over time effects only grant 1 stack every 5 seconds, however, they are a great way to keeping Conqueror up.
TRIUMPH
Players will receive 6% of missing health as well as 10 Gold every time they participate in a champion takedown. Players will experience a 1-second delay before they get their health from securing a takedown.
Triumph is extremely powerful with Singed players, especially when players are part of multiple takedowns.
TENACITY
Players gain 5% +2.5% per Legend stack (max 10) tenacity up to 30% tenacity.
Tenacity is another one of those defensive stats players are going to want to have on Singed, just to ensure that they are mitigating as much damage as they can in team battles and general happenings.
LAST STAND
While players are below 60% maximum health they will deal up to 11% increased damage.
Players must be at 30% health or lower if they hope to deal all 11% bonus damage.
ALTERNATIVE SECONDARY RUNES (DOMINATION)
RAVENOUS HUNTER
Abilities Heal for 1.5% of damage + 2.5% per every champion takedown for a maximum of 5 stacks. Healing is reduced to 1/3 on AoE damage.
While Ravenous Hunter won’t do a great deal of healing, it’s never a bad idea to round out your damage.
Ravenous Hunter works best with Singed’s Poison Trail (Q) as it will provide him with healing as he tries to escape and poison enemy champions.
TASTE OF BLOOD
Taste of Blood will heal players by 18-35 (based on level) + 10% AP and has a cooldown of 15 seconds.
Taste of Blood in tandem with Ravenous Hunter will make Singed extremely bulky, surprisingly making Singed one of the only tanks I would take Domination on.
ALTERNATIVE SECONDARY RUNES (SORCERY)
I would recommend picking sorcery runes secondary if you are dealing with mana related issues.
MANAFLOW BAND
Hitting enemy champions with an ability will permanently increase your maximum mana by 25 (cooldown 15 seconds), up to a maximum of 250 mana. Although players will receive an increase in the maximum mana they can have, proccing Manaflow Band will not provide an increase in your current mana.
Once players have capped out their maximum mana at 250 bonus mana, they will receive 1% of their missing mana every 5 seconds.
Manaflow Band can be crucial for Singed players who are not used to turning off the Poison Trail (Q) toggle or players who like to play more aggressively.
TRANCENDENCE
Providing players with 10% cooldown reduction at level 10, Transcendence will also produce players with 1.2 bonus Attack Damage for every 1% Cooldown Reduction stat past 40%.
SKILL LEVEL UP RECOMMENDATIONS & TIPS ON HOW TO PLAY SINGED IN ARAM
POISON TRAIL(Q)
For the cost of 13 mana per second Singed players will leave a poison cloud behind him that lasts for 3.25 seconds.
When enemies stand in the poison cloud they will take 5 / 7.5 / 10 / 12.5 / 15 (+10% AP) magic damage every 0.25 seconds.
To best use Singed’s Poison Trail, players will have to build movement speed and ensure that they are always moving. when Singed stands still the Poison Trail will remain active, however, players may find it more useful to move in an S-shape to deal damage to a larger area.
In most, if not all cases Poison Trail should be maxed out first.
MEGA ADHESIVE (W)
Every 17 / 16 / 15 / 14 / 13 seconds for the cost of 60 / 70 /80 / 90 / 100 mana Singed players will be able to lay down a pool of adhesive that remains on the field for 3 seconds, slowing enemy champions by 60% and grounding them.
Enemies must remain in the Mega Adhesive to continue to experience said effects and as soon as they exit the affected area will no longer receive the status effect penalties.
Mega Adhesive should always be powered up last as powering it up will not benefit players much past being used more frequently.
FLING (E)
By far the most interesting ability players have access to when playing Singed is Fling.
Fling costs 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 mana and can be used every 10-seconds to both Fling an enemy over your shoulder and deal 50 / 65 / 80 / 95 / 110 (+ 6 / 6.5 / 7 / 7.5 / 8% of the targets max health) + 75% AP.
As mentioned if players Fling enemies into Singed’s Mega Adhesive, they will temporarily root the enemy champion for 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 seconds.
Players can choose to empower Fling first if they are experiencing lucky streaks of being able to Fling enemy champions, however, in most cases players will want to upgrade Fling second.
Fling requires Singed players to remain fairly close to enemy champions, though with some health being close to enemy champions shouldn’t be too scary.
INSANITY POTION (R)
Insanity Potion is kind of a cop-out of an ability simply because it provides a standard boost to all stats including ability power, armour, magic resistance, movement speed, health regeneration and mana regeneration for 25 seconds.
Players will have access to an Insanity Potion every 120 / 110 / 100 seconds and will receive 30 / 60 / 90 bonus stats and 6 / 12 / 18 regeneration per second.
GEAR BUILD FOR SINGED
ROD OF AGES
Rod of Ages gives bonus Health, Mana and Ability Power every minute for up to 10 minutes. This equals out to 200 Health, 100 Mana and 40 Ability Power, on top of its already 60 Ability Power, 300 Health, and 300 Mana.
After 10 minutes Rod of Ages will have a total of 100 Ability Power, 500 Health and 400 Mana. Those are some pretty sweet stats at the end of the day. Players will also restore mana equal to 15% of the damage taken from champions.
BOOTS OF SWIFTNESS
60 movement speed and 25% slow resist.
SPIRIT VISAGE
Providing players with a 10% cooldown reduction, 450 health, 100% base health regeneration and 55 magic resistance.
Players will also receive 30% bonus healing from all sources of healing.
LIANDRY’S TORMENT
Liandry’s Torment gives 75 Ability Power and 300 Health. As a passive Liandry’s Torment will also deal 2% more damage per second in combat with enemy champions, up to a maximum of 10%. Spells will also burn enemies for 3 seconds dealing 1.5% of the player’s maximum health per second. If enemies are experiencing movement impairments they will receive an extra 2.5% damage from the burn.
Liandry’s Torment can be paired up with Rod of Ages to deal more damage from maximum health. Rod of Ages will also provide players with extra healing based on the damage players deal to enemies. If players choose to team Liandry’s Torment up with Rod of Ages, Rod of Ages should be built as the first item.
RYLAI’S CRYSTAL SCEPTER
Rylai’s Crystal Scepter provides players with 90 Ability Power, 300 Health and will also reduce the enemy’s movement speed by 20% by one second.
THORNMAIL
Thornmail provides players with 80 armour and 250 health.
Players also gain Thorns which reflect 25 (+10% of bonus armour) magic damage upon being hit by a basic attack.
Thorns will also inflict the attacker with Grievous Wounds for 3 seconds.
Players will also receive Cold Steel which cripples an enemy’s attack speed by 15% for 1 second upon being hit by a basic attack.
