Kirby and the Forgotten Land is truly a great game with a variety of maps, abilities, mobs and simply gameplay elements. While I would regularly say that Kirby games are typically much easier than other Nintendo games, I have to say that Kirby and the Forgotten Land has a great deal of mechanics that significantly increase the difficulty of the game making it a lot more challenging and enjoyable for players of all audience.
While by now players should be aware that Kirby and the Forgotten Land is jam packed with new abilities, including a a new mechanic called Mouthful Mode where players can suck up large objects in order to take on completely new abilities, players may not know exactly how to utilize all of these abilities in order to finish the plethora of Missions available to them.
Missions are by far my favourite part of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, providing players like me who are completionists with the ability to understand what it is they are working towards instead of having to wonder aimlessly to find secret crevices and areas as they would in previous Kirby games.
I have to say, this was the most game changing element to the game that I discovered while playing the Demo on Twitch as it seems like most Nintendo games are moving forward to this structure and I fully support it.
Though players will often discover these Missions by mistake, the reality is that in most cases players will not be able to complete all of the Missions available to them whenever they enter a new level as they are not always the most obvious. Luckily for players, after they complete a level in the game they will be given one of the Mission titles that they missed along the way, providing them with a hint of what it is they need to complete. Though this is true, some of these Missions are still confusing to locate, meaning that a 100% complete is still a bit difficult to do.
So, I’m taking the time to cover every mission that is available to a player while going through Kirby and the Forgotten Land and giving you some tips and tricks on how I 100% completed the game in hopes of having you do the same.
The following guide is going to take you through everything you need to know about the Scale The Summit map including all the Missions that can be completed and where the hidden Capsules are.
Time Stamps:
0:00 Introduction
0:16 Wanted poster #1
0:50 Clutter Needle Blueprint
1:08 Capsule #1
1:30 Waddle Dee #1
2:09 Freeze Fleurina with an ice ability
4:30 Waddle Dee #2
5:05 Wanted poster #2
5:10 Capsule #2
5:18 Waddle Dee #3
5:36 Avoid the spikes in the secret room
6:10 Waddle Dee #4
7:55 Wanted poster #3
CLEAR STAGE
As is with all other maps in Kirby and the Forgotten Land players will have the opportunity to obtain three Waddle Dees simply for completing the map. While three Waddle Dees isn’t a whole lot, there are going to be a few easier maps to complete in order to maximize the amount of Waddle Dees a player has and truthfully this is one of the stages.
Even if a player doesn’t collect all the Waddle Dees in every level, as long as they complete the majority they will be able to unlock all of the hidden aspects in the game to help strengthen their power for later stages.
SAVE THE HIDDEN WADDLE DEES
WADDLE DEE #1
After locating the first Capsule by using the bomb box sitting in the square pool, players have to head down the yellow ladder to the bottom of the map.
Down here players will see a green locker that they can use Mouthful mode on in order to make it fall.
Behind the locker is the first Waddle Dee.
WADDLE DEE #2
Players will reach a T shaped piece of concrete with a Red Button that has a star in it. Here players will have to press the Red Button and race to the top in order to rescue the Waddle Dee.
Surprisingly this button’s timer is not very long, so I strongly recommend avoiding all enemies and simply flying your way up.
Players can quickly kill enemies if they have the Whirlwind ability, however, I still advise against trying to kill all the mobs as steering the Whirlwind correctly can be time consuming and essentially make the Waddle Dee disappear before you get the chance to collect it.
WADDLE DEE #3
After players have collected the second Wanted Poster they are going to have to head down into a room with an orange star on it.
Here players will be met with a room that has a ton of spikes.
Players are going to want to make sure they have the Whirlwind ability as they are going to want to quickly press three Red Buttons in order to release the Waddle Dee.
If players are not fast enough their Whirlwind ability will end and they will take damage from the spikes.
You’re going to want to make sure to complete this portion without taking any damage as there is a Mission in this room that can help you kill two birds with one stone.
WADDLE DEE #4
Nearing the end of your flying Mouthful Mode players will see a cracked wall that they must smash into.
It is hidden on the right hand side of this area and players will have to use their attack in order to break the wall. If players do not attack, the wall will not get destroyed.
Luckily for players, they will be able to repeat this part as many times as they need by using a Blue Star, however, players should note that if they use the Retry Star they will lose all rewards they have collected in this portion of the map.
The Retry Star will essentially “reset” the flying portion of the map as if the player has never done it before. In this case, it’s not a big deal as there aren’t many resources a player will be sad if they miss out on in a second attempt.
REMOVE 3 WANTED POSTERS
Along the way players will locate wanted posters that have Kirby crossed out on them. I have to admit that in every game that has Wanted Posters I tend to take them down as I typically role play that this will help make sure that no one tries finding me, to my surprise this was actually a mission making my “roleplaying” more profitable.
WANTED POSTER #1
The first Wanted Poster is almost at the very beginning of the map and requires players to head to the right of the screen after they have climbed the first ladder.
It is in plain sight so players should not miss it.
WANTED POSTER #2
After players rescue the second Waddle Dee in the timed element, players will have to head to the left of their screen where they will see the second Wanted Poster. Players can use any ability or their breath to tear this down, but will want to remain close to this area as there are a few Missions here.
WANTED POSTER #3
After players finish the flying portion of the map they will have to head to the right hand side of this location, also being the ending of the map.
Hidden behind the trees and beside a Knock-Knock Nut is the final poster that will help players unlock the Mission for this portion.
AVOID THE SPIKES IN THE SECRET ROOM
After players have located the second Wanted Poster they will have to begin heading south to find a secret room that is depicted with 3 orange stars on it.
In this room players will be met with a great deal of spikes that the player must avoid. Players can either do this by using their Whirlwind ability to quickly speed through the Spikes or can simply float above the spikes to reach the end.
The Whirlwind ability is the best method to do this as it will allow players to press all of the Red Buttons with stars in them on the way, essentially allowing them to save the Waddle Dee in this area.
FREEZE FLEURINA WITH AN ICE ABILITY
By far this is the toughest Mission to obtain as freezing Fleurina isn’t the easiest task to complete.
Essentially players will have to stand near Fleurina and will need to blast their Ice skill for as long as they can. Unfortunately, Fleurina will break off the Ice if she begins spinning, meaning that players will have to take any opportunity they can to hit her with Ice to complete it.
This means that any time Fleurina is summoning whirlwinds or simply not moving, you’re going to want to attack her.
Luckily for players, they will be able to see whether or not they have begin to Freeze Fleurina as she will collect ice on her body, beginning with her legs and moving onto her wings.
If players cannot complete this in their first run, have no fret as coming back with an upgraded Ice ability can really help speed up this process.
CAPSULE LOCATIONS
CAPSULE #1
After players receive the Clutter Needle Blueprint they will reach an area that has a pool of water and a bomb box inside of it.
Players will have to hit this Bomb Box with a n ability that will make the Capsule appear.
CAPSULE #2
Where players have located the second Wanted Map there is a blue tote container that players must break in order to obtain the second Capsule. This can either be broken by a basic Kirby attack or with an ability.
CLUTTER NEEDLE BLUEPRINT
Very early in the level in the first section players will see floor made of metal boxes. Players will need to have an ability to help destroy a bomb box that is in the top right corner of this location.
Destroying the Bomb Box will destroy all the metal boxes below, revealing the Clutter Needle Blueprint.
