Malphon, more regularly referred to as simply the Twin Fists, are by far my favourite Weapon of choice and quite frankly I get sad when it’s not the Weapon that reaps more rewards.
Admittedly, if I wasn’t a player who was always trying to grind out the most amount of Artifacts as possible during a run so I can focus on progression rather than going back to farm resources.
The Twin Fists are a quick faced Melee Weapon that is highly focused on dealing quick damage and rotating between a player’s Special and regular Attack.
The Twin Fists is one of the most forgiving Weapons players can obtain as the combo is one of the fastest and in some cases a player’s combo will actually deal the same amount of damage whether or not the player Combos. While the latter isn’t really a great talking point, players should know that the alternative is also true.
In many cases if players are lucky with their Hammer rolls they will be able to power up the base damage for their attacks so as they begin using their combo they will significantly deal more damage, especially if they have damage multipliers that stack on their Attack.
The Twin Fists have four attacks at it’s base, being a Pummel, Rising Cutter, Dash-Strike and Dash-Upper which are outlined on my Infernal Weapon’s Guide, though in this post I’m going to be focusing on more of the technical Aspects of the Twin Fists, so players are aware of the hidden Aspects for each other the upgrades in order to make a good decision of which ones they upgrade and which one they will want to use or avoid depending on how much Titan’s Blood they have.
As is with most things in Hades, such as the Mirror of Night, it’s going to be a good idea to upgrade all of your Aspects so you can freely rotate between them all, however, this isn’t always a possibility, especially for players who are struggling to collect enough resources.
As for the upgrades provided by the Daedalus Hammer, you can read more here.
The following guide will take you through everything you need to know in particular to the Aspects of the Twin Fists so you can make an educated decision of whether to upgrade certain Aspects or avoid them completely.
A BIT ABOUT ASPECTS
There are a total of 4 Aspects for the Twin Fists being Zagreus, Talos, Demeter, and Gilgamesh.
Each Aspect requires players to spend Titan Blood to power them up, however, players will not need to upgrade them all in order to move on to the next.
Essentially, players can be picky right from the get go and choose which Aspect they prefer and level that one up as if players want to unlock and upgrade all the Aspects of the Twin Fists they will need to fork over 51 Titan Blood.
Each Aspect of the Twin Fists will change the look of it and will add to the functionality of the Weapon. It should be noted that all the Aspects simply add to the base of the Twin Fists, other than the Gilgamesh which will completely change the way that the Twin Fists functions.
ASPECT OF ZAGREUS
The Aspect of Zagreus on the Twin Fists is another Aspect I truly don’t care about simply because I’m not a huge fan of defensive stats in Hades.
Unlike many of the other Zagreus Aspects, the Twin Fists will provide players with Dodge Chance which is great for players who are newer to Hades and need to avoid taking damage, however, in the late-game players are going to want to maximize their Attack in order to burst through enemies due to how many enemies players will be up against in later Heats.
I’ll admit, the Aspect of Zagreus for the Twin Fists is an Aspect I avoided altogether simply because I’m not a huge fan of Dodge Chance, not to mention the Dodge Chance the Aspect gives you isn’t that high.
Again, if you’re a player who’s newer to the game and is having trouble escaping the first few Heats of Hades, the Aspect of Zagreus may actually help you escape.
The following is all the information you need to know about the upgrades for the Aspect of Zagreus:

Dodge Chance: +5%
TIER 2 ASPECT OF ZAGREUS

ASPECT OF TALOS
The Aspect of Talos changes the way that the Twin Fists functions a bit and is actually a really nice Aspect to have in the early game, making it a great Aspect to acquire first.
Essentially with the Aspect of Talos players will be able to use Magnetic Cutter with their Special which will draw enemies to them in order to deal some more rapid damage and being able to guarantee the ability to attack multiple enemies at once.
The player’s Special will deal 20 damage while it draws enemies towards it and for each tier of the Aspect players will receive more damage for their Magnetic Attack and more damage for their Casts.
I’ll admit, I rode this Aspect until close to the end-game because I didn’t have enough Titan Blood and didn’t realize at first how to unlock the Aspect of Gilgamesh.
As mentioned earlier, the Twin Fists are one of the most forgiving Weapons a player can run with, so even if players aren’t able to upgrade them the highest, they will still output a good amount of damage.
It should be noted that the Bonus in damage for the Aspect of Talos will only last for 6 seconds after a player uses their Special.
It would be a good idea to make your rotation Special > Cast > Attack. If players have multiple Casts, this is a great time to use them all.
The following is all the information you need to know about the upgrades for the Aspect of Talos:
TIER 1 ASPECT OF TALOS

ASPECT OF DEMETER
The Aspect of Demeter is a bit of an odd Aspect in my opinion and is the one that I choose to avoid simply because I’m really not a fan of the upgrade perks it provides players.
While admittedly, higher tiers of the Aspect of Demeter will shovel out good amounts of damage, to me the play style isn’t interesting and it can be fairly difficult to manage.
Essentially with the Aspect of Demeter players will be able to land their Special multiple times after they land 12 strikes using their basic Attack.
Players who run the Aspect of Demeter will want to make sure that they upgrade their damage on their Special a significant amount in order to make the best use of this Aspect, however, the major downfall to the Aspect of Demeter is trying to ensure that you hit the most enemies in your Special when you have access to the bonus hits.
Basically with the Aspect of Demeter players will be at risk of finally being able to get off multiple Special Hits and may end up using the multiple hits on a weak enemy who doesn’t need to be hit multiple times. Hitting an enemy that is already weak is essentially a big waste since it takes a decent amount of time for players to build up the passive.
While players will be able to successfully gather 12 stacks of Strike after 2 “combos”, which again does not act like other combos as players will not receive an increase in damage, but will instead simply take a short pause in between their next attack. Players are unable to cut this downtime short, even if they “break the combo” so it’s always a good idea to get 5 hits in every time, especially if you have a Hammer that provides you with extra damage per consecutive strike.
The Aspect of Demeter is truthfully best when up against Bosses as they are going to be the mobs that require lots of damage before they are killed.
The Aspect of Demeter is so good against bosses that I would actually recommend it if you are struggling to take them down. Admittedly, I tend to avoid using it for simple mobs and usually end up just letting it happen if it happens.
The following is all the information you need to know about the upgrades for the Aspect of Demeter:
TIER 1 ASPECT OF DEMETER
Titan Blood Cost: 2 Titan Blood

TIER 2 ASPECT OF DEMETER

Bonus Special Hits: 4
TIER 5 ASPECT OF DEMETER
Titan Blood Cost: 5 Titan Blood
Bonus Special Hits: 5
ASPECT OF GILGAMESH
The Aspect of Gilgamesh is one of the highest damage yielding Weapons as it can both provide players with a debuff to enemies and will also add a passive that essentially Acts like Doom.
With the Aspect of Gilgamesh, players will begin by applying a Maim that causes enemies to take an additional 25% damage from Traps and 50% more damage when attacked by Zagreus.
The Maim lasts for 4 seconds and upon expiring will deal a burst of damage.
Essentially due to the way that the Maim works, players will be able to Maim lower tier mobs and run away, essentially making grinds a bit faster, especially when the Aspect of Gilgamesh is upgraded fully.
The only downfall to using the Aspect of Gilgamesh’s Maim is the fact that it is bound to the Dash-Upper. This is the first time we see an attack or status effect that is specifically bound to the Dash Upper.
Players are encouraged to Dash Upper as many mobs as they can and run away until all enemies are affected, then should begin attacking those who still have the Status on them.
The Dash Upper is most impactful when against Bosses and players will want to make sure that they always have an uptime on their Maim as it will help you burst through a Boss and also give you that extra bonus damage when a Boss is unreachable due to it spewing out damage.
HOW TO UNLOCK THE ASPECT OF GILGAMESH
Players will not be able to use the Aspect of Gilgamesh at first and must follow these steps to do so:
First, reveal the Aspect of Guan Yu, though will not need to unlock it using Titan Blood.
Players must then invest 5 Titan’s Blood in their Twin Fists Aspects, meaning that players may want to rush this with the Zagreus upgrade or a mixture of others. I would strongly recommend using others, because the Zagreus one is pretty crap.
Players must either receive the following message from Asterius or must talk to them when they have the Twin Fists equipped until they do. It should be noted that players will only receive this dialogue in the chamber before the fight with him and Theseus:
Huh. You mean to fight with me bare-handed this time, short one? I’m not ashamed to say the Champion himself defeated me in such a manner back when we drew breath.
I see you overcome the wild and make peace with death
To raise your chances of meeting up with Asterius players will want to look for a chamber with a Skull on the Boon at chamber 30. This will raise the chances that you’re going to fight him.
WHAT IS THE APECT OF RAMA’S MOVESET?
As mentioned, players running with Rama Aspect will have a different set of skills and damage than all other Aspects. The following are the changes:
SWIPE
The Swipe is the most basic of attacks players can utilize when using the Twin Fists.
The Swipe is it’s own “Combo” though players will not be dealing more damage based on how much they attack an enemy. Essentially players can hold down their Attack button to strike 5 times before the sequence ends and starts over.
Players will experience a bit of a pause in between their 5 strikes, though this isn’t for long, so you may want to dash in between or use your Dash-Upper.
For every Swipe you land, players will deal 60 damage.
RISING CUTTER
Rising Cutter can be activated when players stand still and use their Special. While seemingly Rising Cutter deals less damage than a player’s Dash-Upper, the reality is that Rising Cutter will hit twice, meaning that players are going to want to make sure that a mob is stationary while attacking or they may miss the second hit.
Rising Cutter, in my opinion, is a less favoured way to damage mobs as I prefer to hit mobs with Maim on the Dash Upper.
None the less, players will deal 30 damage per hit on their Rising Cutter making it a decent way to deal damage, especially if players are placing Status Curses on mobs.
DASH-STRIKE
A player’s Dash-Strike is the attack that players will not want to use often as it deals the least damage out of everything and players will not be able to Strike multiple times.
Essentially players will only be able to deal 20 damage anytime they use a Dash-Strike. *cough* Trash.
DASH-UPPER
The Dash-Upper is going to be the most important way to deal damage when running the Aspect of Gilgamesh.
Essentially the Dash-Upper is what’s going to trigger your “rotation” or Combo for the Aspect of Gilgamesh as players will be able to Maim foes with it.
The Dash-Upper itself deals 40 damage on hit, and then players will want to rotate into their Swipe to deal 50% extra damage on their already 60 damage.
Players will not want to use their Dash-Upper multiple times on an enemy as it doesn’t stack, however, players will receive extra damage based on how much they’ve upgraded the Aspect of Gilgamesh.
I strongly recommend focusing on this Aspect as the Maim explosion on it’s own is very strong.
As mentioned, players are going to want to make sure that they place a Maim on every enemy on the map before they switch over to dealing Swipe damage. Players should be able to destroy trash mobs with ease so a player can focus on dealing damage to the main boss.
