Heal Thyself | We Happy Few

Last Updated June 27, 2021 By Johnny Salib / FlamingGaymer Leave a Comment

There are a few hidden quests that players will be able to complete in order to fill out their lexicon of quests.

While many quests will also provide players with the knowledge to upgrade their Skill Tree, the honest truth is that this mission is one of the ones that will not provide players with anything other than some more knowledge on how to craft some healing for yourself when you are wounded in battle.

Heal Thyself is first accessible when players exit the quest Wellington Under when players are heading towards the objectives to complete the “Point of Departure” quest.

As implied, “Heal Thyself” is considered to be a hidden quest as players will not acquire this quest simply by completing the main story and instead will have to unlock this on their own, though it’s quite simple in comparison to other quests.

In order to initiate the “Heal Thyself” quest players will have to locate a Rose of Gilead to obtain the resource Gilead Petals.

Upon doing this, Arthur will speak on his brother Percy bringing up the fact that these flowers can provide healing properties launching the quest line.

Roses of Gilead are depicted by green bushels with Red Flowers, they are most commonly scattered around the Garden District and will come in very handy throughout the game, so any time you are in the Garden District, I strongly suggest that you pick these up. This is especially true for those who are playing on Normal or Hard Mode and especially to those who aren’t used to adventure games or suspect that they will be dying a lot.

After players unlock the “Heal Thyself” quest line they will have to complete 3 quests in order to complete it.

COLLECT 2 GILEAD PETALS

To start off the quest, players will have to collect all the resources they need to essentially complete the quest.

In many cases players will be able to collect these resources very quickly as often a few Rose of Gilead will appear in the same area, however, the Garden District is definitely filled with these so even if a player doesn’t find them immediately they will soon.

Players will only need to strip 2 Roses of Gilead to obtain the 2 Gilead Petals as each bushel will give you a single Petal as Arthur gains no upgrades that provide more, unlike characters like Sally or Ollie.

CRAFT A HEALING BALM

After obtaining 2 Gilead Petals players will be instructed to craft a Healing Balm.

In order to do this, players must head to the crafting tab, in the menu that contains sections like character info, Skill Tree and Inventory, though the Crafting tab is depicted by the Hammer.

Healing Balm is located in the Health crafting tab, currently under the Dirty Bandage, interact with this and hold A or Space to craft.

USE THE HEALING BALM

While it may feel useless to use Healing Balm at the beginning of the game, the reality is that the Roses of Gilead and Gilead Petals are very common, so don’t feel bad about “wasting” this product so early in the game, especially because it’s not the most effective healing resource.

To use the Healing Balm, players will have to cycle through the first or top inventory slot in their main screen (by using 1 or LB) until they find the Healing Balm and then use it with their interact key.

Players can also go to their inventory tab in order to pause the game and use it this way.

The Inventory is depicted with a suitcase and players will essentially need to select the item then use the interact key to actually consume it.

As mentioned, completing this quest will not provide the player with anything so rushing to finish it is not necessary, though completing it quickly also has no penalties.
