Dragons | Trove Guide

Last Updated February 11, 2021 By Johnny Salib / FlamingGaymer Leave a Comment

When it comes to farming mounts in Trove, players have a variety of options, having a good amount of mounts that are simply for cosmetics and mastery as well as some mounts that will actually empower a player to deal more damage or gain more magic find as soon as they unlock them.

Though it is ultimately on the player to choose what kind of mounts they try to obtain, whether it be crafting them from scratch or buying them off the Marketboard, players are strongly encouraged to focus on obtaining Dragons over standard mounts simply due to the fact that Dragons are the only type of mount that will provide players with stat buffs.

Dragons come in various forms and types, ranging from being made from Dragon Fragments scattered around the world, having to use cubits to obtain their Dormant Dragon Eggs or requiring the player to farm a good number of resources in order to fully craft the Dragon.

The one thing that all Dragons have in common is that they will take a fair amount of time in order to craft, especially if players are hoping to obtain all the Dragons that are available to them.

The following guide will take you through everything you need to know about Dragons, how to craft them and the best methods players can take to farm Dragons.

WHAT ARE DRAGONS?

Dragons both include mounts and allies, though in most cases a player will be required to unlock the mount version of a Dragon in order to obtain the ally.

Dragons are considered the best mode of travel as they provide players with the ability to run around the world and also provide players with the ability to fly without using Wings.

Most Dragons will fly a bit more slowly than using regular wings, though Dragons come with the added ability to be able to shoot fire balls in order to break blocks from the sky or get into dungeons faster.

Dragons have gone through a number of different updates. The first batches of Dragons, for example, had 4 different growth stages that players could unlock as they continued to collect Dragon Souls, unlocking both Allies and various tiers of Dragons with different kinds of perks.

WHAT ARE THE STAGES OF DRAGONS?

If players are unlocking Dragons using Dragon Souls the four stages of dragons include Dragonlings, Fledglings, Adult Dragons and Ancestral Dragons.

Again, these tiers of Dragons only apply to the Dragons that require Dragon Souls and do not apply to those that require Dormant Dragon Eggs, Dragon Egg Fragments or simply need to be crafted without Dragon Souls.

Back to the different stages of Dragons, players will want to take note of which stage they have unlocked until as each will provide players with different types of perks.

DRAGONLING

Dragonlings are the first life stage of Dragons and will provide players with allies that will give players with some of the best stat boost, especially for early-to-midgame content.

With the Delves update, the Dragonling allies have become outclassed as many of the Delve Allies provide the same if not better stats including the new necessary stat of Light.

If you’re new to the game, I still strongly recommend that you unlock a few of the Dragonlings as the stat boosts that they provide is quite substantial and can technically push a player into the next damage threshold that they need in order to progress in content.

FLEDGLING

The Fledgling may have wings, but being that it is too small it will not allow players to fly just yet and instead will act as a land based Mount.

The Fledgling, in my opinion, is not a great type of mount to use as it does not have access to anything that another land based Mount can offer you, meaning that players are essentially limiting the amount of cosmetics they can use for no reason.

If you like the look of a Fledgling use it, if not don’t feel obligated to use it when you have access to a number of other Mounts.

ADULT DRAGON

The Adult Dragon is the third life stage of Dragons and is the first growth stage that allows players to fly on them.

Adult Dragons are perfect for players who are too lazy to grind for Wings or don’t have access to wings, though much like the Fledglings, I tend to stay away from these mounts as well as Wings are faster and they don’t provide the player with that much extra movement speed.

As is with most things, the use of an adult Dragon will highly depend on what a player needs and whether or not the player will need access to Wings without having any Wings unlocked.

ANCESTRAL DRAGON

Ancestral Dragons are by far the most useful type of Dragons in the game, though players can obviously also use Legendary Dragons which are similar minus the way that players must unlock these Dragons.

Ancestral Dragons are the best types of Dragons to ride as they will provide players access to Fireballs that will allow the player to break their way into Dungeons.

I personally have a number of these Dragons favourited so I can quickly change between them as I’m someone who is impatient and must break into every dungeons that I am trying to complete.

The only time a player is not recommended to use a Legendary Dragon or equivalent is when they have a Ganda and are using the Knight as a Sub Class as this will greatly succeed the amount of movement speed a player has on a Legendary Dragon or with Wings.

DO DRAGONS GIVE PLAYERS STATS?

Yes, the majority of Dragons will be able to provide players with a permanent boost in stats.

In many cases the boost in stats include permanent Magic Damage, Physical Damage, Maximum Health, Maximum Health Percentage, Health Regen, Critical Hit, Critical Damage and bonus Magic Find.

In some cases Dragons will not provide players with any stats, however, will still provide players with a healthy amount of Mastery, still being a large encouragement for players to craft these dragons.

When it comes to boosting a players damage, the top Dragons a player will want to focus on are the Primordial Dragons as they will provide a player with 10% extra Power Rank as well as 10% stats to all the Gems that are associated with that Primordial Dragon.

HOW DO I SHOOT A FIREBALL USING A DRAGON AND SIMPLY CONTROL MY DRAGON?

Learning the mechanics for a Dragon can be kind of confusing, especially if players are newer to the game.

As the basics, players will be able to use their space bar to jump, though if players hold their spacebar when they are in the air they will be able to glide, similar to Wings.

Players can use W to move forward, but when they use S the Dragon will hover in the air and slowly fall to the ground, essentially being the best way to target a specific location multiple times when trying to break into a dungeon or destroy blocks.

Players will still be able to move left or right by using A and D.

To shoot fireballs, players must use their Mouse 1 button, though they will not be able to rapid fire and instead have to keep spamming their Mouse 1 button to keep attacking.

The only dragons that have auto-shoot is Ludini, Patron of Playfulness and Za’Hadeen, Heart of the Flame.

Cy and Saguine, the Twin Plagues and Jhorodir, Arms of the Goddess will be able to use both Mouse 1 and Mouse 2 to shoot as they have two heads.

It should be noted that players will only be able to shoot fireballs while they are gliding.

WHAT DRAGONS ARE THERE, WHAT SPECIFIC BOOSTS DO THEY GIVE AND HOW DO I UNLOCK THEM?

The following are all of the Dragons a player can unlock while playing Trove, the resources they will need to consume in order to craft them and the permanent stats they will receive for unlocking the Dragons.

Note that this will also include Allies such as the Dragonlings and will give a nod to previous ways it was possible to obtain Dragons that have changed in mechanics.

DRAGONLINGS

As mentioned, Dragonlings are simply allies that players can equip in order to provide their character with some bonus stats.

Players should note that a Dragonling must be equipped in the Ally tab in order for a player to be able to access the stat boosts they provide.

If a player does not have the Dragonling in the Ally slot they will not gain any benefits from this tier of Dragon.

Players must craft Dragon Souls for each of these Dragonlings, which used to be available by doing the hourly Dragon Challenges, however this is no longer possible.

The following are all of the Dragonlings players can obtain and the stats players will gain when they are equipped.

ELDER DRAGONLING

When equipped to a player the Elder Dragonling will provide players with the following stats:

8% Physical Damage

8% Magic Damage

10% Cooldown Reduction

The Elder Dragonling will also ignite damaged enemies

The Elder Dragonling is not the most useful ally to use in the game, however, will provide all classes with a decent amount of Magic Damage and Physical Damage no matter what classes they main.

If it is too difficult to obtain another ally, I strongly recommend starting with this one simply to get started.

HOW TO OBTAIN THE ELDER DRAGONLING

The Elder Dragonling can be obtained after referring 1 friend to the game, if players are under mastery 20 it would be appreciated if they use my friend code.

Using a friend code does not cost a new player anything, however, it will allow the player who uses the code to receive a Class Coin in order to unlock another class early on.

AZULIAN DRAGONLING

When equipped to a player the Azulian Dragonling will provide players with the following stats:

-8% Incoming Damage

10% Cooldown Reduction

The Azulian Dragonling will also ignite damaged enemies

The Azulian Dragonling is perfect for starting players who are hoping to use Tanks as their main classes.

The Azulian Dragonling works best with Tanks like the Revenant who do not have Energy as it does not provide Energy Regen.

HOW TO OBTAIN THE AZULIAN DRAGONLING

The Azulian Dragonling requires 1 Azulian Dragon Soul.

Players must use one of the following recipes in the Dragon Crucible in the main player Hub:

AZULIAN DRAGON SOUL RECIPE 1

GOLDEN HOARD DRAGONLING

When equipped to a player the Golden Hoard Dragonling will provide players with the following stats:

The Ancient Dragonling is perfect for starting players who are hoping to use a class that requires lots of Energy as their main classes. These include classes like the Chloromancer or Ice Sage.

Overall, the Ancient Dragonling isn’t the most helpful ally to have active and players should focus on Allies that provide more damage.

HOW TO OBTAIN THE ANCIENT DRAGONLING

The Ancient Dragonling requires 5 Ancient Dragon Souls.

Players must use the following recipe in the Dragon Crucible in the main player Hub:

4 Dragon Coin

1 Golden Soul

25 Glacial Shards

10 Critical Damage

10% Cooldown Reduction

The Bone Dragonling will also ignite damaged enemies

The Bone Dragonling is perfect for starting players who are hoping to simply deal more damage no matter what class they are playing.

The Bone Dragonling was considered the best Ally to have for years, though it is now outclassed by Delve Allies, though is still great for players who do not need Light.

HOW TO OBTAIN THE BONE DRAGONLING

The Bone Dragonling requires 5 Bone Dragon Souls.

Players must use the following recipe in the Dragon Crucible in the main player Hub:

4 Dragon Coin

1 Golden Soul

15 Bleached Bone

MOONWING DRAGONLING

When equipped to a player the Moonwing Dragonling will provide players with the following stats:

-8% Incoming Damage

10% Cooldown Reduction

The Moonwing Dragonling will also ignite damaged enemies

The Moonwing Dragon is very similar to the Azulian Dragonling, however provides the player with a slight cosmetic difference.

HOW TO OBTAIN THE MOONWING DRAGONLING

The Moonwing Dragonling requires 5 Moonwing Dragon Souls.

Players must use the following recipe in the Dragon Crucible in the main player Hub:

4 Dragon Coin

1 Golden Soul

Players must use the following recipe in the Dragon Crucible in the main player Hub:

4 Dragon Coin

1 Golden Soul

5 Robotic Salvage

STARLIGHT DRAGONLING

When equipped to a player the Starlight Dragonling will provide players with the following stats:

20% Magic Damage

10% Cooldown Reduction

The Starlight Dragonling will also ignite damaged enemies

The Starlight Dragonling is perfect for starting players who are hoping to use magic classes as their main classes.

The Starlight Dragonling is best for players who have very high Magic Damage and do not have the need for Critical Damage or Critical Hit.

HOW TO OBTAIN THE STARLIGHT DRAGONLING

The Starlight Dragonling requires 5 Starlight Dragon Soul.

Players must use the following recipe in the Dragon Crucible in the main player Hub:

4 Dragon Coins

1 Golden Soul

WINTER DRAGONLING

When equipped to a player the Winter Dragonling will provide players with the following stats:

2% Critical Hit

10% Cooldown Reduction

The Winter Dragonling will also ignite damaged enemies

The Winter Dragonling is perfect for starting players who are hoping to get more Critical Hit as their main classes.

Unfortunately the Winter Dragonling does not provide players with the most stat buffs a Dragonling can provide.

HOW TO OBTAIN THE WINTER DRAGONLING

The Winter Dragonling requires 5 Winter Dragon Soul.

Players must use the following recipe in the Dragon Crucible in the main player Hub:

4 Dragon Coins

1 Golden Soul

20 Glacial Shards

MONARCH DRAGONLING

When equipped to a player the Monarch Dragonling will provide players with the following stats:

8% Physical Damage

8% Magic Damage

10% Cooldown Reduction

The Monarch Dragonling will also ignite damaged enemies

The Monarch Dragonling is perfect for starting players who are hoping to use any classes for their adventures as it provides players with some decent stats all around.

For players who are struggling to refer friends to the game, the Monarch Dragonling is a good way to catch up.

HOW TO OBTAIN THE MONARCH DRAGONLING

The only way players can obtain the Monarch Dragonling is by reaching Mastery 130.

FLEDGLING DRAGONS

Fledgling Dragons are the second tier of Dragons and are not widely used amongst players as they do not provide the ability to fly and instead are ground only mounts.

LEGENDARY DRAGONS

Legendary Dragons are another one of the most common types of Dragons players will be riding in the Overworld.

Legendary Dragons work similar to the Ancestral Dragons though many of them require Dormant Dragon Eggs.

The following are the final Dragons players can obtain and the methods in which they can unlock these Dragons.

FORTRAS, THE HERALD OF BATTLE

Unfortunately unlocking Fortras is fairly up to RNG as players will have to unlock a number of Troves of Wonder in order to obtain without directly purchasing it from the Marketboard.

Truthfully Fortras is one of those Dragons I would strongly recommend getting first simply because of the usefulness of being able to shoot downwards as it will make getting into dungeons a lot easier than any other Dragon.

Unlocking Fortras will provide players with the following stats:

3% Health Regeneration

500 Physical Damage

PRIMORDIAL DRAGONS

As mentioned, Primordial Dragons are going to be a player’s main focus when it comes to crafting a Dragon as they can effectively provide a player with the biggest stat buffs depending on what Gems they have access to.

The best thing about Primordial Dragons, in my opinion, is the fact that they will grow passively grow the stats of a player, without the player having anything to do other than progress in the game.

There are currently only 3 Primordial Dragons affecting Water, Sky and Fire Gems. Unfortunately this means that there is no way to boost Cosmic Gems, though a player should still feel more powerful when empowering the other three Gem types.

All Primordial Dragons will require Diamond Dragon Eggs which can be grinded daily as players will get either 5 or 15 Fragments a day.

SCINTILLA, SPARK OF THE SKY

Scintilla, Spark of the Sky is the Air version of the Primordial Dragon and will provide players with increased flight speed as well as those around them.

Unlocking Scintilla, Spark of the Sky will provide players with 10% more Powerank from their Air Gems.

Players will need the following items to craft Scintilla, Spark of the Sky:

400 Dragon Coins

4,000 Air Gem Dust

100,000 Flux

1 Diamond Dragon Eggs

PALASHIEN, SOUL OF THE THE SEA

Palashien, Soul of the Sea is the Water version of the Primordial Dragon and will provide players with the ability to spawn Water where they destroy blocks.

Unlocking Palashien, Soul of the Sea will provide players with 10% more Powerank from their Water Gems.

Players will need the following items to craft Palashien, Soul of the Sea:

400 Dragon Coins

4,000 Water Gem Dust

100,000 Flux

ZA’HADEEN, HEART OF THE FLAME

Za’Hadeen, Heart of the Flame is the Fire version of the Primordial Dragon and will provide players with increased attack rates with their fireballs, essentially allowing a player to hold down their attack button to continuously deal damage.

Unlocking Za’Hadeen, Heart of the Flame will provide players with 10% more Powerank from their Fire Gems.

Players will need the following items to craft Za’Hadeen, Heart of the Flame:

400 Dragon Coins

4,000 Fire Gem Dust
