Barbara | Genshin Impact Guide

Barbara is going to be the fifth character that players have access to for free when playing Genshin Impact after completing the quest A Long Shot during Act III: Song of the Dragon and Freedom.

Barbara is an Hydro castor character who wields a Catalyst and is going to be a character that players focus on levelling up as she will provide players with some of the best support in the game, being that she is one of the main healers in the game.

Barbara takes a massive focus on being a support character and doesn’t deal a whole amount of damage, though I must say that she is one of my most used characters as even if I am not using her as a main damage dealer for her Hydro specialities, I do switch onto her regularly to initiate her abilities so that my team is kept fully healed so I don’t have to rely on food.

Players will gain more healing by staying on Barbara while she’s active, though if players hop onto another character they will still gain a substantial amount of healing, making it ideal to use Barbara when against bosses or in situations where a player may fall otherwise.

TALENTS

BASIC ATTACK

Barbara’s basic attacks allow her to perform up to 4 water splash attacks that deal Hydro damage.

Players can hold down Barbara’s basic attack in order to deal AoE Hydro damage after releasing.

When Barbara is mid-air, players have the opportunity to plunge down in order to damage all enemies in her path with AoE Hydro damage.

ABILITY 1

Barbara’s first ability is Let The Show Begin ♪ which allows her to summon water droplets that look like musical notes and form a Melody Loops that deals Hydro damage to surrounding mobs and afflicting them with the Wet status.

Melody Loop causes Barbara’s basic attacks to heal all characters in the party and the nearby player’s party and scales with Barbara’s Max Health.

Barbara will gain 4 times the amount of healing from her Charged Attack.

Melody Loop will also regenerate some Health every so often to the active character.

ABILITY 2

Barbara’s second ability is Shining Miracle ♪.

Shining Miracle ♪ allows players to heal nearby allied characters and the characters in their party by a large amount that scales with Barbara’s Maximum Health.

1ST ASCENSION PASSIVE

Upon upgrading Barbara with her 1st Ascension, Barbara will gain Glorious Season.

Glorious Season causes Barbara to consume less stamina when under the effect of Let The Show Begin, essentially consuming 12% less stamina.

4TH ASCENSION PASSIVE

Upon upgrading Barbara with her 4th Ascension, Barbara will gain Encore.

Encore makes it so that when the active character gains an Elemental Orb/Particle, the duration Let the Show Begin will extend by 1 second up to a maximum of 5 seconds./

UTILITY PASSIVE

Barbara’s Passive With My Whole Heart ♪ allows players to receive a 12% chance to obtain double the product when a Perfect Cooking is achieved on a dish that has restorative effects.

TALENT LEVELING MATERIALS

TALENT LEVEL-UP MATERIAL

Talents can be levelled up by heading into the Talents tab when in a character’s profile, though players will not be able to do this until they have ascended at least one time.

Levelling talents will essentially make the talents more powerful.

In order to level up a character players talents can use the following items:

WEEKLY BOSS

The following are the items players will need to obtain from Weekly bosses in order to level up their talents to level 7 and above:

COMMON ASCENSION MATERIAL

Ascensions essentially allow players to upgrade their characters beyond certain thresholds. Each ascension has a cap on how many levels the player will be able to level up their character before they are technically forced to ascend their character.

The following are items players can receive in order to complete their talent upgrades after Ascensions:

18 Divining Scroll

66 Sealed Scroll

93 Forbidden Curse Scroll

CONSTELLATION

As players are trying to ascend their characters players will also want to unlock pieces of their Constellation which will add more passives or upgrades to their talents.

Constellations can be upgraded using the Stella Fortuna.

Players will be able to gather Stella Fortuna by collecting duplicates of the character.

The issue with Stella Fortuna is that it is bound to the character you collect it with and thus will not be useful for any other character.

The following are the Constellations players can acquire for Barbara.

LEVEL 1 – GLEEFUL SONGS

Upon upgrading Barbara with the first Constellation players will unlock Gleeful Songs.

Gleeful Songs will allow Barbara to regenerate 1 Energy every 10 seconds.

LEVEL 2 – VITALITY BURST

Upon upgrading Barbara with the second Constellation players will unlock Vitality Burst.

Vitality Burst decreases the cool down of Let the Show Begin by 15%.

Barbara will also provide the active character with an extra 15% Hydro Damage while Let the Show Begin is active.

Note that this means any active character, whether or not they are a Hydro character or not.

LEVEL 3 – STAR OF TOMORROW

Upon upgrading Barbara with the fourth Constellation players will unlock Star of Tomorrow which will increase the level of Shining Miracle by 3.

It should be noted that the maximum a player can upgrade Shining Miracle is to level 15.

LEVEL 4 – ATTENTIVENESS BE MY POWER

Upon upgrading Barbara with the fourth Constellation players will unlock Attentiveness be My Power.

With Attentiveness be My Power, every time players hit an enemy with Barbara’s Charged Attack she will regenerate 1 Energy.

Players are able to gather 5 Energy per Charged Attack as hitting multiple enemies will essentially raise Barbara’s Energy faster.

LEVEL 5 – THE PUREST COMPANIONSHIP

Upon upgrading Barbara with the fifth Constellation players will unlock The Purest Companionship which increases the level of Let the Show Begin by 3.

Similar to Shining Miracle, it should be noted that the maximum level of Let the Show Begin is level 15.

LEVEL 6 – DEDICATING EVERYTHING TO YOU

Upon upgrading Barbara with the sixth Constellation players will unlock Dedicating Everything to You.

With Dedicating Everything to You Barbara will be able to do the following when a character in her party falls and she is not on the field:

Automatically revive the character.

Fully Regenerate the character’s HP to 100%.

Dedicating Everything to You can only occur once every 15 minutes, meaning that players will not be able to rely on it completely.
